Steven Wilson - Voyage 34 (The Future Bites Sessions)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 10 дек 2020
- The latest Future Bites session is one of my very earliest solo recordings. Voyage 34 was released under the name Porcupine Tree way back in 1992, and at the time was one of the longest singles ever released at 30 minutes! This session version is much abbreviated, but look out for a more extended updating of Brian’s 34th LSD trip on my tour next year.

When the pandemic is over, nobody tells Steven, so keeps at home doing The Future Bites Sessions 🙊
Hahaha! I was just thinking the same ;)
The only problem with this idea is that I want to see him play live again
@@andrewbuschert8789 18.11.2021 Bochum (FingersCross)
haha :D :D
@@YTKenjide We can only hope. No telling how soon he'll make over here to North America, but good luck to you in Europe. Hope it's a good show
"Is this trip really necessary?"
Um, yes.
Yes it is. 💓
really necessary(!), really necessary(!)...
@@Eddyspeeder Is th is th is th is th... Is this trip really necessary necessary necessary?
Every trip that involves Steven Wilson is absolutely necessary
Yes!!!
YES!!!!
He's a better guitarist than he gives himself credit for
True, it is what first drew me to him back in the late 90s.
And a better bass player.
He plays well for the song and it’s emotive as opposed to noodly.
@@MrGIJuu
I agree. More like David Gilmour as opposed to Steve Morse. Morse is incredible, but it lacks the feeling of Gilmour.
@@MusicGunn The comparison between guitarists is funny in my opinion. Gilmour is great for floyd, Morse is great for purple... If one was to swap their places neither would sound good. For that you'd have to get Govan! Joking ofcourse, but I think the point is still valid and there is no comparing all these great guitarists.
Steven is like a mad scientist in his laboratory bringing something beautiful back to life
It's alive!!, It's alive!!
LSD has never been dead (nor alive for that matter) ;-)
never thought I'd see Steven play this after this long! Hope he does more of these. Radioactive toy please!
Yes, Radioactive Toy next!!! It would be my 11 year old son's favourite PT song.
How about 9 cats?
@@mobbymobb5491 oooh NOW we're going even more obscure! Nine Cats is such a nostalgic song
@@omairsh8 Ironic you should say "nostalgic". I'd go even more obscure: "The Nostalgia Factory". Whole demo tape, live 😛
That Pink Floyd inspiration is what made me fall in love with Porcupine Tree in the first place
Porcupine Tree is 1000x better than Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is boring and miserable.
Boring and miserable for you, but exciting and amazing for me :)
They pushed a lot of boundaries back in the 70's.
@@ToxicTurquoise454 Music is subjective (SO are Musical Tastes) and I totally understand your point, even if I don't feel the same.
@@ToxicTurquoise454 Dumbest thing I ever read. Porcupine Tree wouldn't even exists without PF. You have the right to dislike, but please don't act like a 9 years old kid.
@@ToxicTurquoise454 and the winner for the most ignorant statement of the year goeeeees tooooo.......
We observed Steven's gradual transformation!
And somehow we all grew up! 💓
This performance was really necessary .
The guitar solo made my day! Best thing that happened in 2020 so far!
What about this 14 year old miracle? ruclips.net/video/bxXTgpJULBs/видео.html
One of my favourite Steven guitar solos. Never get tired of it, esp 4:49
"I'm not a guitar player" - Steven Wilson
"Okay LOL" - 2.1k people
Just like Zappa. Just "Shut up and play yer guitar!" ;)
@@kellybunney234 hey I love both Steven and Frank, but let's be real... Frank was in a league of his own.
He must consider himself primarily a writer in which instruments and performances serve that end.
He did say that in concert. He said I'm not a guitar player but I know how to play chords. Here it is just himself so he's playing guitar pretty well on this song. Very humble.
The man is not just a guitar player but a composer.
"This young man never had a bummer in some thirty-three LSD trips. Every one of them was a delight. He only needed to snap his fingers and down he came, anytime. But on Voyage 34 he finally met himself coming down an up staircase... and the encounter was crushing"
Up The Downstair
I wish Steven Wilson did more psychedelic music like Voyage 34! Perfect trip
One of my favourite guitarists ever
4:49 Pure heaven
that is one beautiful piece at 4:49, why cant it just continue for a couple more minutes!
You have no idea how nostalgic this song is to me and my homies
Oh, I think I do :-) Its lovely to see so many older PT fans on this video!
Ahh the good old days
At last. My dream has come true.
This is one of the greatest guitar pieces ever. Voyage 34 is genius.
My most played Tree Track.
That solo is next level beautiful, love it. Wish he had played an extended version that merged the best sections from parts 1 & 2, but I'm glad he didn't skip the best part at 4:49
@@omairsh8 I have a show from years ago, Nearfest, I think where Tree play that version. It's incredible
I keep coming back to these tracks. The dreamy, almost hypnotic quality. The way the melodies ebb and flow together. I especially love the slow build of the guitar section. Absolute banger.

A blast from the past, it gives me hope for a fadeaway performance
I would love it as well
And John Wesley on guest vocals to recreate the Berlin 2005 performance
@@shantanunathan nah, the point of these is that it's just steven, i love that performance but it's already out there, we don't need another one imo
ohh man. I wish this happens. Fadeaway is my all time favourite song. My, music taste changed a lot and i have been listening to mostly blackmetal for years now but my day can't go by without listening to fadeaway atleast 1 time.
@@Rassalcon Gary Kemp did guest vocals on the last one - 12 Things I Forgot. I'd love to hear John & Steven together again after all this time.

No Portuguese dates yet!! Porto misses SW.
Please come to Russia, when possible ❤️
Perfect!!! Look forward to it. Last time I saw you perform that was Sheffield Leadmill I think. Love the Taylor Swift cover also.
Would love to hear this in 5.1 also :)

Dear Steven Wilson.... I LOVE EVERYTHING YOU DO SIR!
The riff At 04:11 sends me to happy everytime!
I've recently discovered Porcupine Tree - The Sky Moves Sideways. Wow, alternate version blew my mind.
Try the alternate version of moonloop 😍
I really envy you right now, that you get to experience this music for the first time. got so many warm a wonderful memories of getting blow away every single time I heard something new by PT/SW
I like the alternate version better than the original
Better late than never...
Man, I'd give anything to relive the night of experiencing that album the very first time. What a journey.
Yo!!! Playing the shaker is NOT easy, ya'll! Kudos for holding that down solid, Steven!!
Unbelievable!! Thank you Steven!

Is there anything better than discovering a new musical love? You are fortunate - Steven has a huge body of work for you to discover and explore. I envy you!
This man is not from Earth❤️
As though we see a broadcast from times then Steven used to record every single instrument by himself. Fascinating!
This is the best thing on the internet right now.
True
Even if Ptree doesn't reunite in future, i'm happy if he touches them from time to time.

The best song of the future bites sessions!!!
I hope he ends up doing Every Home is Wired soon. Seeing those vocal harmonies in-studio would be amazing.
Oooooh yes, that would be amazing!
Wow yeah, that would be incredible!
That is impressive playing for someone who says 'i am more of a sound designer'. Very good job.
Steven is one of the most versatile and musical guitar players ever, whether he believes it or not
Yes!! This Made my day!
Everyone have a nice weekend!
Still astonishing.
SW 2020 with an electric guitar. What a surprise!
Oh hush. He's just playing some new styles just now.
Steven is quite cleverly cooking up his old fans, so they will stick around for some more potential treats ;) well done, master
Now we're talking. Steven has gone back to his roots with this masterpiece 👍🏻👍🏻
The song is 30 years old lmao
What a fantastic piece of music..
One of the best thing that happened in 2020, if not the greatest.
Whoua, quel pied d'écouter ce morceau.

Absolute river of joy.
For the hundredth time, absolutely awesome!
Steven’s sessions, maybe the bright spot of 2020
This studio looks like an extraterrestrial communication control center, from where steven gets his inspiration
It's a fairly new room this one.
Close. The extraterrestrials get their inspiration from HIM. ;)
Aaaah the good old days ! Reminds me back in time, when I was 16 and listened to old Porcupine Tree's albums with my walkman, in the bus goin' to school, during the break, the cafetaria... even during some classes too ! haha
Oh, this is my favorit. I can hear it over and over again
This was the first thing I heard from Mr Wilson shortly after it was released which was what? 1992ish? I've held on ever since through every incarnation and no regrets! This track still stands even nearly 30 years later, case closed!
Too good Steven.
Such a great move of doing the Old PT songs for all the fans who were craving for some Porcupine tree sounding stuff.
Really enjoyed this only well produced live performance of this song. Cheers !

Masterpiece...guitar playing..so pure
Steven's guitar solo that starts at the 4:10 mark is one of the most beautiful guitar solos I've ever heard. It has choked me up ever since hearing the version on the original PT track.
Wow, my favourite PT song. Wasn’t expecting that!
oh boy! many many trips listening to this whole one hr track. Remarkable track. In almost all my trips I have listened to PT. PT will always be on play playlist. The trip this track has always given me.Thank you Wilson for this. Godspeed.
17 November 2000 Porcupine Tree played alive in City Hall Haifa Israel and i was so lucky to be there :) One song before ending the show with Radioactive Toy, they played so brilliantly the track Voyage 34 (Phase I) and I remember to see Steven dancing, playing guitar and enjoying this amazing track like he was a fan of Porcupine Tree.
This concert was simply unforgettable and it was with the amazing beast drummer Chris Maitland The brilliant Keyboards, atmosphere player Richard Barbieri and the so cool Bass player Colin Edwin.
In the end of the show i met Steven and i payed attention that he was with a pencil and a paper in his hand and i said to him your music is very very deep, but i guess he already knew it :)
After that i asked if my brother, my friend and me can have a photo with them and he said off course and i asked him again before the Photo, where is Richard Barbieri and he told me that he is tired and resting now, so we took this photo as a wonderful souvenir from Porcupine Tree without Richard.
That guitar... so good
OH NO HE DIDN'T!!! Dropping everything I'm doing to watch this.
Beautiful re-visit to where it all began and just loving these Future Bites sessions, thankyou Steven Wilson!
I was waiting for this, OMG!
just awesome - every time I listen to it!
Voyage 34 was the first EP of Porcupine Tree I bought back in 1992. I can't believe it's 28 years ago now.
