Soaking in Denture Tablets for several days, changing it out daily, using two tablets each time, works better, and you can monitor the progress until it's the shade you want.
@@memorykeepersarchive3953 I know denture cleanser soaks help with that as well, but it’s recommended that using a blend of copic markers to recreate the original skin shade works! I’ve never done it, but there are several FB groups on vintage Barbie that may help if you go on and ask! One FB in particular to ask is Andrea Collum! She’s an expert at restoring
The Hello Kitty and My Melody dolls with the Steffi face sculpt are so beautiful and (in my opinion) perfect. I wish they would re-issue these dolls. You did a great job with the doll.
Wow!!!! Look at you, you did a fantastic job restoring her from the yellow head to even curling her hair! She looks amazing friend you should be so proud of yourself!!!❤️❤️❤️
This is absolutely brilliant! My mom gave me my childhood's Little Orphan Annie doll from the 80s. The doll is so sticky, her face is oily. I'm definitely trying this and will report the results. I'm excited and super happy that I can save my old doll!
I find that 'retrobrighting' works well for removing yellow discoloration. This is just a matter of using peroxides with UV light. Not all plastics respond the same to all peroxides, so it's often a good idea to try retrobright with hydrogen peroxide, benzoyl peroxide, and creme developer for hair in succession. Often one of these will do the trick where others barely do anything. I like to use a UV light chamber with LED lights rather than natural sunlight, but I don't have convenient access to sunlight all year long.
Wow she came out great! I’ll have to check out my dolls , I may have a few with this problem. Sunlight can do some real damage. I’ve had pink boxes get bleached and faded, the plastic will go yellow. So if you have windows with a lot of sunlight use some window shades or re-arrange often. I love her curls as well!!! 🙂
Repainting is sooo hard! The eyes are really tricky to make them look normal - def noob club here too 🙋🏼♀️ - I can reroot but it takes forever!! Great vid ❤️
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have a Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz who’s yellowed over time & I thought this irreversible! 😩 But not now! I’ve used Oxi-Clean to remove stickiness & glue from hair but I’d never thought that it could help with yellow discolouration! ☺️
Omg you are the Fairy Doll Father as far as doll content goes Arjen i've been looking for ways to get rid of glue since i go thrifting for a lot of my dolls thank you!
Ive to agree it might of been the glue but also the product gel they used in the barbies hair the glue inside her hair may have reacted with the gel when it got too hot due to humidity wherever it was and and since some glues and gels do have a faint residue in color may have caused the discoloration. kind of like what happens with the old earrings in barbies ears there's a chemical reaction as the item decays and causes the nasty green ear ( which is hell to remove and just as annoying as yellow face syndrome for barbies)
That stickiness is due to the plasticizer leaching from the vinyl. Even dolls that were made prior to Mattel securing hair with glue has this condition . Plasticizer is what makes the head pliable. Over time, the plastic starts to degrade and the plasticizer leaches out. Not sure if heat or sunlight accelerates the condition or causes it.
Great technique!! Thank you so much this video saved me! I’ve also been using this method to remove old plasticky smell and cigarette smell from my dolls and it’s been working wonders! For smell I only leave for a day.

This is a lovely doll the only Hello Kitty theme I see recently are the outfits. Thats really great the process is effective none of mine have yellowed faces but a few legs were becoming sticky I just dressed them with stockings it might be the rubber or silicone casting material because the Barbie has different volumes for the torso or arms and hands. Acrylic plastic is more resistant
Enjoyed the video! Very interesting products for removing the yellow/ sticky problem! Also, Twin Pines of Maine has Formula 911 to remove "sticky" ness from vinyl dolls. Of course, formula 911 smells much like Pine Sol.
I use 40 volume hair peroxide for my yellow sun damaged girlies, It works amazing and it's cheap and quick! It doesnt take more than a sunny day :p just put it on the yellow parts and put her on the sun and thats all 🥰❤️
On the glue still being in her hair after soaking, I usually change the water and add new oxi clean more than once to ensure all the glue is gone from their hair. I might try this method with the gold label Pink in Pantone Barbie, she has really bad glue head. Also with the playline Spongebob Squarepants Barbie, she has a sticky head
fabric softener is really really bad for synthetic hair fibres and can degrade them over time, make sure you wash that out and just put conditioner in or boilwash with a bit of conditioner.
Yeah, some of my dolls had jaundice too bc the sellers I bought them from stored the dolls in storage units that weren't climate controlled/ no air conditioner & without ventilation in the Arizona heat where summer temperatures can reach past scorching melting soaring 120° Fahrenheit 🌡with the sizzling heat index & were also exposed to blinding uv rays & sunlight ☀️.

Does it also works for green ear? It is difficult to get CLR remover in Europe
@@gio_ser5120 It may make a tiny difference, but not much. CLR really is the best remedy for green ear
