As far as I am concerned I have no problem with an advert or advertorial placed within the video. At least that way we know someone will get paid unlike the current system.
I personally wouldn't mind watching a 30 second sponsored ad to help creators because RUclips is awful to its creators. Shawn needs to start a patreon. That's where he can get paid!

truthfully im suprised they dont breed those kangaroo rats for pets. They look like they would be a really easy cheap sell like gerbils or hamsters.
Sounds like every non-native species problem in the making! But they are cute, not like the ex pet boa snakes that are causing problems in the wilds of Florida. (snakes are cool not cute)
@@paintnamer6403 I don't know that they can survive in cold or even temperate climates since they seem to be fully adapted to the deserts so they might not necessarily become an invasive species

They are pets in Australia, the Michaels hopping mouse (kangaroo rat) is native here. Not a common pet, but a pet nonetheless

I own a pet rat, and while it is sad that I have to watch some get killed, they Are pests that can cause a ton of damage. Haters are people that can’t understand that you only kill pests.

Well some rats carry diseases which I think is one of the main reasons why rats are killed. My dad shoots rats that are on our property to prevent them from possibly biting someone
@@chrishansen3278 I wouldn't think the biting is a big issue. Mostly their piss and feces which they excrete everywhere. They don't mind showering in their own piss. They are not clean animals.

I've had gray hairs mixed into my head since I was 14, so I've always had some in my beard and mustache. However, my younger brothers are both going bald so I might actually be spared that since it hasn't started yet...
And as far as kangaroo rats, I think they were the main real-world rodent to inspire the "mouse" of my avatar. Powerful hind feet, long fuzzy tail with a tuft at the end, big bright eyes.
In California the kangaroo rat "they say" are on the endangered list it has stopped a lot of building funny thing it doesn't stop big builder's only individual owner's. Bureaucrats!

I remember my cat bringing me one of these when I was in 2nd grade and then I read in a book at school that they are endangered and was sad.
The one your cat caught was almost certainly not endangered. There’s only one species of kangaroo rat on the endangered species list out of I believe 10 or so species of rat that are commonly called “kangaroo” rats due to having those springy back legs. The kind Shawn caught, for instance, is not endangered. But I’m not surprised Oregon doesn’t let you take them home, it’s too much to hope for the public to only take non-endangered kangaroo rats from the wild.

I prefer iced tea myself. These days I use Tetley Iced Tea bags; they're larger than single portion bags. I use 4 to make a gallon of iced tea here. I can get a box of 24 for less than $4 at the local Krogers; nearly a weeks worth.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that even though I have no interest in catching mice as it is quite irrelevant to my life... yet somehow your channel is one of my favorites. Keep up the good work!
Rats and mice are a huge problem in our suburban area. Gophers also huge problem. Yes, I catch, trap, poison and drown them but it's not like I enjoy it, especially the gophers but they do so much damage to lawns and landscaping. The tree rats invade an attic, mat down the insulation and fill it with feces. Stray cats do nothing for the rodent population as too many people feed the cats. I kind of wish we had rattlesnakes. We do have owls which we rarely see but know they are there by the fur balls they vomit up.
I totally understand you getting older a little bit too quickly compared to your actual age. Being a RUclipsr and dealing with all the (algorithm) hate takes a toll. I think you're doing a great job, keep on the good work! Best wishes from the Netherlands.
Dear Shawn: How do you hand-tame your captured mice?
I've caught a few house and deer mice and they're very cagey and nervous and tend to bite.
I know a method for hamsters but it’ll probably work just as good. You can try putting your hand in their bin cage/tank with a few treats so it’ll climb on your hand and get used to it. After doing this a few times you can try without food and it’ll likely climb on your hand. Hope this helps
Weird thing about kangaroo rats. My Grandpa brought one home when I was a kid and it was very docile. It never bit us in spite of handling. We let it go after a day because he was just so cute I figured he deserved to be free.

I like iced hibiscus tea, try it sometime. make it the day before hand,sweeten to taste, refrigerate it overnight and enjoy the next day. It's really fruity and has lots of antioxidants.

@@dannythedarkkitten3995 they require a big cage, much money (since they always need something to chew on). They need attention when they are awake. Also they are usually awake at dusk and dawn/ at night. I love my fluff balls but I wouldn't really recommend them.

Used to go riding off-road in California City n these lil guys are EVERYWHERE and not very afraid of people. At night they’d often come sit near the bonfire and catch some warmth. Always wished I could keep one! This video is awesome!

As an Amazon seller, those listings annoy me. I had to almost type the entire title in to even find this listing. Every other listing includes two traps but no one where in this one does it mention two. Pictures all show one so it's technically correct but for 35 you'd assume. I'd return it on principle. It's also NEVER sold before Shawn. He is the only buyer. Shady seller practices. He has 99 more in stock so maybe he bought 50 and split individually.

Kangaroo rats are definitely adorable! I did an elementary school project on them. Did all the research, wrote a small report, and created a desert with a mound that was a home for the kangaroo rat that I created and put inside. Still my most favorite project that I have done growing up. I'm pretty sure it's gone now, but if it was still around, I would definitely keep it.

I’m at my desert spot and a Kangaroo Rat just came into the camp. We carved pumpkins today and this dude just hopped up into my lap and started eating pumpkin seeds. Pretty cool cute creature.
