4-03 Perfume: Cost of perfume compound vs Retail Price

A session from a workshop in The Art and Technology of Perfumery held in Bangkok 2012. What impact does the price of the perfume compound have on the finished perfume?

You can say that about cars, computers, resteraunt meals, clothes, tennis shoes.

Yes, but the manufacturer cost versus retail price ratio is not as drastic with those, especially with cars. Tennis shoes and meals are pretty close though. ZZ

yea but u also paying for the work or art the perfumer did. some perfumes take alot of time to make and skills. its like a painting. its fair in some cases in others its a marketing strategy u pay for a pretty bottle and the face of the brand, etc. if u can make a good perfume and sell it the right price without being greedy i agree.

This all is crazy but also at home average Joe does not have the right tools or materials to make parfume. But yeah still insanely expensive.
