I have been waiting YEARS for this! I always suspected these clamps had super powers! Thank you for defining it🙏👍👏
Another fine video Glen, I've been woodworking for past 50 years and yet I never fail to learn a little something from your video's. Thanks for all you do and keep up the fine work.
Nice presentation. These wood clamps were a pain to use in wood shop in high school. We weren’t instructed in the use of them. But now they should be owned by every wood worker.
I like the idea of clamping the plywood or other pieces to edge sand. I'd normally stand there wobbling around with it between my legs/feet trying to keep it in place. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you Glen! This was very helpful! I started woodworking because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I needed to be able to make things, and do things with my hands, it's sort of therapy. But, my disability means that I do need as much of a "helping hand" as I can get. Someone these tricks will come in handy. I'm particularly grateful for the idea of using the clamps for edge banding and planing because I do not have space for a dog table.
You can also find these clamps at Antique stores as well. If you are doing repairs on fine furniture and use these clamps you can cover the jaw faces with a piece of leather. They will grip super tight and not slip or damage the finish of the piece you are working on. Great video Glen!!
Hand screw clamps are very useful for holding small items to keep your hands away from a spinning drill bit. Never considered using it with a regular clamp to hold a board vertically. Nice!
I needed this tip two weeks ago! Lol
Thanks!
Awesome and powerful yet simple tips I had never seen. Great content, never underestimate the power of sharing the simplest tips!
Noted, thank you!
Disagree that this doesn't have any mind-blowing tips or tricks. This was great. I've been woodworking for years and still got some serious inspiration for this under appreciated simple tool. Great video!
I never thought of using the clamp styles in tandem; that is why I think to watch your channel though - you are always teaching me something.
Hand screw clamps are some of my favorites. Great tips! Scott
You have renewed my interest in using these clamps that I never could imagine. I always thought of them somewhat awkward but through this video opened new opportunities in the work shop. Thank you.
You are welcome. Sometimes we just need a little insight.
Thanks, Glen! You've solved many of my problems here. Now I just have to buy a couple!
I have some that I inherited from my dad. I never really knew what to do with them until now. Thanks!
This is EXACTLY what I need. I am a woman starting out with DIY, because I cannot afford to pay for a joiner or decorator, so I am hoping to learn as much as possible.
Even though I have a vintage cabinetmaker's bench with 2 vises, I found several helpful tips from your great video.
Sometimes I wish I had a vise, but not often enough to buy one. I do have a couple of Jorgenson hand screw clamps and now I know how to use as a vise. TYSM for this video.
Thanks for these tips. I was introduced to these clamps 60 years ago in 7th grade shop. But was left on my own in putting them to use. Your tips opened my eyes to ways to use these more effectively. That last one…that will come in very handy.
Thanx! I just bought a pair of 12" for a specific task without realizing how versatile they really are! I know I'll be using them now! I think I'll go get a pair of smaller ones too!
Always wondered if those were a practical tool to have. Always ended passing them up whenever I would be in HF. Well you changed my mind about them, not just having one but two in the shop. Thanks
Simple, yet effective. Makes DIY tasks less frustrating. Thanks, Glen. Any more quick tips in the pipeline?
Great ideas I don't have any clamps like those but your video shows the advantage of having these on one's tool arsenal, gotta go now I gotta make a trip to my home center store to buy clamps...thanks for sharing
Great video on these wood clamps. I’ve cut grooves in the clamping surfaces with holes perpetual through the clamp to use in drilling pipes and dowels. Best use is getting your fingers out of the way.
These are some of the best tips I have come across. Thank you.
Thank you for the great information. You caused me to rethink the use of these clamps.
Great ideas, clear explanations! Thanks!
Love your show. Been using "Jorgensen Clamps" what they are called here in Canada, for five decades and truly are a must for every out of shop project, in shop project, camping and imagination is only limit to their versatility. The largest set (14") are so old the fire-branded Patent# is barely visible but looks like it starts with the year 18??. Those and my Yankee #31 push drills and Yankee #41 ratchet drivers are indispensable.
Thanks for all your great info and talent.
Thanks William! I didn't even knew these came in 18in versions.
@@DIYCreators My bad. The patent # is from the 1800s. The largest(very old)set I have is 14" but for unique applications I have screwed extenders on. LOL
Always enjoy watching your videos...learn something each time! Thanks.
Wow! Who knew! I have one of these and have never used it. Now I can't wait to try it and will probably get one more 😊. Thank you!
Haha, that's awesome! Put it to work.
Hello Glen, The Miter stop block & Router Table stock block is a great Tip, Thanks a bunch!!
I learned something today, thank you !!
I have those clamps and didn’t know how to use them !
I definitely overlooked these clamps. I'll have to pick up a pair. Thanks
I understand for sure 😀. Anytime.
I always looked at them as not cool to use, but I have a small garage shop and the usability you showed here was very beneficial!!! Thank you for your DIY style videos short, impactful and well thought out
These tips are sick! Your router table build is amazing too
Just start! Indeed. You make home ownership exciting as you make it telltale your personality. I love wood!! Can't wait to play.
Useful stuff, Glen. Thank you.
Very useful, thank you for this
Great tips. I always learn something from your videos.

Good video and demonstrations!
Really great information!
Great video on these wood clamps. I’ve cut grooves in the clamping surfaces with holes perpetual through the clamp to use in drilling pipes and dowels. Best use is getting your fingers out of the way.,
Muy bueno ese utensillo👏👏!! Saludos de ARGENTINA!
Well Done. Thank you.

Anytime!
Daaaaaaaang sir! You just keep coming up with great ideas! Cool! Thanks!
Great video. We need your presence more on RUclips
Thank you for posting, great video.👍👍👍
You're welcome!
Outstanding video, I never would have thought of utilizing these clamps like you demonstrated. Last time I used this style of clamps was in Junior High Shop class in 1977.
Yeah thats what they have done. But I've come here to learn French 😂😥
Regards
Al Quds
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Thanks, you are welcome!
awesome tips!
Great video......thanks for the tips.
Thanks for tuning in.
These are excellent tips that are hard to find.
Ottimo attrezzi da lavoro....Complimenti
Thanks for your videos👍
Sure thing, I appreciate you tuning in!
Good ideas!
I've been looking for an excuse to buy some of these but put it off because I didn't know how versatile they'd be. The tips you showed actually fix several problems I've had. Thank you.
Ha, anytime! They are quite versatile.
Very good tips Thanks
Thanks!
Thanks. As a beginner I really need these tips.
Welcome!
Awesome!
Thank you for sharing
Sure thing, thanks for watching!
Great video. Personally they are my favorite goto clamps. When i first started out, an old timer told me that the "proper" way was have the left hand hold the furthest handle and only use the right hand to turn the other handle. Left is always stationary. LOL
Thanks, I originally bought some because I though I needed them. Then, I thought they were useless. As I learned more I realized they were quite handy.
Great tips…… thanks
Thank you.
Man, really like your low key video style, presentation, and honesty right up front. Gonna make several clamps this spring and save some $$ and have a multipurpose set of tools. Keep rockin.
Thanks I appreciate the feedback.
Very cool 😎😎
Nice solutions
Thanks
OLD LEATHER SMITH here. Terrific, very useful Thanks. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
Nice tip
Thanks
I've only ever used the much smaller metalwork versions on these. Interesting tips. Clamps if all kinds are so useful.
Totally, thanks for watching.
Good call on the packing tape! My first thought was "oh no, that's going to stick! 😱"
Lol I'd make a few people upset um sure 😅
Great stuff as usual.
Thanks
Surprise surprise 🙀
Great video, you have a new subscriber
Brilliant, Glen! Thanks a lot for all the tips! 😃
Unfortunately, you can't find those clamps here in Brazil, but I'm going to try to make some!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Hey buddy! Thanks for watching. Odd I would think these were world wide. You can find kits online if you want to make your own.
And maybe start marketing/ selling them in your locale....
Bodmin crew
@@karashj1nice thanks guys 🙀
I’ve always known theses as hand-screws. I had a female apprentice working for me and we needed larger clamps on the job, so I sent her out to buy 4 hand screws. 1/2 hour later she came back and told me she didn’t have the nerve to ask for a hand screw
That's pretty funny if a true story!
🤣 classic!
@@sbffsbrarbrr it’s a true story, I had never made the connection until that day and we had a great laugh about it.
@@DIYCreatorssergant peanut again? Lol
Bidi bap bap set up
Gonna get me a couple…. Thanks
I’ve looked at these things for years especially at harbor freight and thought what the heck do you do with these? Never curious enough to look it up, or ask someone but after watching your video I know what I’m picking up the next time I’m at the ole HF……thanks for the education 👍
Great stuff. I suggest you at least sand off the finish from the handles, but for best grip, use hockey tape!
Awesome advice thanks for sharing. LOL always thought these clamps were a pain in the ass and useless now I have to order a set
Sure thing! Yea I use to feel the same. They are very handy if you have to be resourceful.
Still have a few "Jorgensen" handy from way back when at the cabinet shop...........
They're old fashioned, they're goofy, they're crazy......... But having a couple of "large" and "small" on hand will save your butt in time, effort, and money when push comes to shove back..... I know!
Thanks for giving us the best time on these......👍😃
Nice! Anytime my pleasure!
Honestly, I now feel dumb as a rock. Why didn't I think of these simple but excellent uses of wood hand screw clamps? Thanks for this, excellent ideas and great teaching style.
Man I would love to see a video of you making some modern end tables for man cave or den. I want to make some but need some ideas
Hi
Im from iran
Good bro
Omg that little iron!!😂
Bummer. I was just starting production of the same video. I doubt mine would have been as good as yours. Mine are rather rough. Nice job. I enjoyed your video a lot.
Hey man, never get discouraged by what someone else do. Make your video and put it out. Don't matter the quality doing is the best way to get better. Thanks for watching!
@DIY Creators I was a exec producer previously and then retired to teaching. After the years, I have fallen out of practice and have sold all my gear. I am now shooting on a cellphone without even a mic lol. I will get a mic and a boom with recorder in a while, but $$s for a new camera rig would eat into my woodworking budget. I'll just do down and dirty videos about odd topics. Yours strikes me as a well produced, definitive presentation. Good job.
What’s up Glen you probably don’t even remember me this is Willie Lawrence from belle glade we went to school together man I salute you keep doing your thing man great work and great projects.
What up? I definitely remember the name we had so many Willie around I'd have to see a face to connect to. You use to cut hair or am I mixing up the Willie? Thanks bro, I appreciate 🙏!
I still do cut hair I own a shop hear in Atlanta
Put a pair of 'V' notches in the inside of the jaws - it will make it easy to clamp round things like pipe and dowels so they don't move around & with copper pipe you don't have to clamp so hard the pipe distorts. You can also use the notches to keep rope or cable taught when you need to stretch it for various reasons without having to tie knots in the rope.
The wide narrow v was used to make ben1 I explained earlier
👌❤️
Can you please please make a video on how to join lumber to make a wooden desk top without any professional tools like clamps, rotary buffer, etc??
