Director’s note (from Suzy Oliveira, Reese's mom):
In September 2017, my dear sister-in-law lost her 34-year-old brother (and only sibling). The shock of the sudden loss rippled through the community. The void and sadness that followed those early dark days still brings tears to my eyes.
As months passed, I was reminded of this song, “Waiting For My Rainbow,” written by a dear friend (Stephanie Boyd). The song, written from Stephanie’s heart, was about a 10-week-old baby of a mutual friend whom was lost in early 2012. The song perfectly conveyed the sadness in my heart, and the realization that no matter what I do and say to try and help my suffering family, I can’t make it better. No one but the hope of Jesus Christ can heal broken hearts and provide peace throughout the storm.
When Reese first heard the song, she said, “This makes me think of aunt Kelsey.” I explained to her the story behind the song, and she immediately said she wanted to make a video.
So through two separate (un-related) losses this video came to be. The song came through the loss of the infant, and the video through the loss in my sister-in-law’s family.
To Kelsey, Cheryl, Emily and all of the Thornton family: I pray that someday the peace will come, and that your rainbow will follow.
To the Badger family: I hope that you will be pleased with the direction of this video. It is your loss that opened the way for this creation. Stephanie trusted me with one of her most tender songs, and I hope you know that Grady’s song will heal many, many hearts.

Lyrics:
Breathing, pacing, heart is racing
I can't believe this is real
What I feel
Pleading, praying, time is swaying
I need to find some relief
Is this all a dream?
A glimmer in the sky
A promise from on high
I'm waiting for my rainbow
I need His peace within
I trust it's coming again
Let it begin
I'm waiting for my rainbow
Learning, reading, craving, seeking
Comfort that comes from above
Divine love
Trusting, hoping, strength is growing
I felt his power before
I pray He'll restore
A glimmer in the sky
A promise from on high
I'm waiting for my rainbow
I need his peace within
I trust it's coming again
Let it begin
I'm waiting for my rainbow
That's His sign of peace
For all humanity
Even me
A glimmer in the sky
A promise from on High
I'm waiting for my rainbow
I need His peace within
I trust He's coming again
Let it begin
I'm waiting for my rainbow
