  • It's like regular skiing...but backwards.
    Freddy and Thomas walk (or ski) you through how to ski switch. Starting with the basics, the guys show you how to do turns over both shoulders, before upping the ante by showing you how to ski switch over only one shoulder. Learning how to ski switch over one shoulder allows you to properly hit jumps, where you won't be swiveling your head around.
    Learning to ski switch takes time, but stick with it and let us know how it goes! Share your stories or ask your questions in the comments below 👇

    Absolutely brilliant summary. I described it to myself a couple of days ago as like stepping. Except you get to decide on the step length and speed which you don’t do when you’re walking.

    Thank GOD for this video.
    I'm going skiing with friends that have never done it before, so I kinda want to impress them.
    I myself, never go skiing more than once or twice a year. So I know _how_ to ski, I just don't have the time to learn anything new.
    This video helps alot so thanks!

    Cool video, but not particularly helpful for people who are learning. There has to be a few intermediate steps before “go fast and ski switch”

    • @Fitzfish
      @Fitzfish 7 месяцев назад +1

      You're learning how to switch ski? If you are already able to turn around and ski backwards, this makes great sense. If not, that's your intermediate step. Start there. That's what I'm doing. Now I want to control turns.

      Instructions unclear. Yard sale upon exit.

    • @messyweekendcph
      @messyweekendcph  3 года назад +21

      Do you mean while reverting? I guess the easiest way to learn it is just to try and do pirouettes while skiing downhill. If you're having trouble it is often because your eyes are focusing the wrong way, either they're still looking downhill or down towards the skis. Try doing a turn where you eventually look uphill. / Freddy

    Nice Video, but im still wondering how to stand right, while riding switch. Do you need to bend your knees a little and apply pressure on the front of the boots or do you need to keep it in the center?

    • @florianredecsy4997
      @florianredecsy4997 3 года назад +9

      Same as forward. Stay in balance. Meaning you have to stay centered. So you are in a slight bend in your knees. To make the transition easier look up the mountain and not at your ski tips. That would advocate a pressure towards the ski tip and you are not in balance. Would equal to leaning back on your skis going forward. Just imagine you have inline or ice skates on. The balance is exactly the same. Hope that helps

      Maybe. My daughter has twin tips. I have a tapered back tip that has enough rise to do it.
      Some skis are dead flat in the back or have a tail shape that would dig into the snow going backward.
      On maybe 80% of skis, skiing switch is possible.

    • @MB-rp6od
      @MB-rp6od 3 года назад +1

      Turn your back uphill to turn around. Your movement direction will follow where your back is pointing when switch. You can also put a little extra lean towards the tail as you make a turn and the skis will just wash out of the turn and back to forwards.
