One of the college guys said "Larry ain't hit a jumper since '84!" And Magic heard that, so while they were playing Magic passes to ball to Larry like eight or nine times in a row, and Larry hits a jumper each time. Then Larry walks by the college player who said that and said, "Young fella, looks like '84, doesn't it?" Larry absolutely did not care. When Bird was playing Jordan during the Pro/college game, and Jordon came down for the ball, as the gentleman explained, Larry knew exactly who MJ was and what was going to happen in the next few years. That was when you questioned is MJ better than Bird. It’s hard to measure because Larry was on his way out, and MJ was just coming into his prime. In my view, Larry was the better all around player. He wasn’t all show and big leaps, didn’t have to be the star of the show, (even though he usually was). He just needed to win. He made his teammates better with this type of play and I think MJ was a little more of a showman. I take nothing away from the greatness of MJ, I just choose Bird over Jordan in all-around game.
@@andywampler9273 True!! If you watch interviews with Larry Bird or with Michael Jordan, Larry Bird gives credit to everyone who played well. Jordan, not so much. I totally agree with you. I grew up watching Bird/Magic in the 80s. I remember watching the college finals where Magic beat Bird. If I had to pick one guy to start a team around, I would be hard pressed not to pick Bird just because he made so many guys around him better, but MJ did a lot of the same things. I think it was Pat Riley who said that if the game was on the line and he needed one shot to win, he would pick MJ to shoot it, but if his life was on the line and needed a shot to survive, he would pick Bird to take the shot. Bird got his fundamentals from his coaches in school. He got his swag and attitude from adult black men who worked at the large, upscale hotel in the area. There are mineral waters where he grew up,and, great numbers of people come there to experience them.
In regards to the Brad Daugherty story, I heard that Bird pump faked him and as Brad flew By he said, "fly Bird" and also slapped him on the ass with the ball before taking the shot. Larry called guys that jumped on his pump fakes members of the parachute club. The Dr, J story happened because Bird was being a a dick and repeating Julius's point score compared to his. 12-2..... 18-4..... 21-4.... at 28-6 Julius had heard enough and they got into a little brawl.

Asking the question, was Larry Bird better than Michael Jordan? There's a great series called "Making the case" where a number of great player's careers are presented in such a way as to provoke some serious thought about whether they may be the best ever. I suggest you check them out and especially the one on Larry Bird, because when you watch it, you start to have serious doubts about your choice of GOAT. I think the biggest factor in Bird's case was his absolute mastery of the fundamentals AND the intangibles of game. This is never more apparent than in his extensive, incredible game winning shots and plays, there has never been a more clutch player than Larry Bird. As Calvin Murphy says in this video, "Every time we had a chance to win, Larry Bird changed that". Who else invents little side games to amuse himself during the season just to keep himself interested? James Worthy famously said "I'd much rather guard Michael Jordan than Larry Bird because with Larry, you had to play the game as a thinker. There were some sleepless nights...".
Larry couldn't really play in the mid 90's due to injuries from his brutal gameplay. So Jordan used that to win back to back threepeats knowing no one was in his way.
@@mikerobinson6969 Bird's back was done as we know. Jordan was healthy. If Bird's back wasn't bad, maybe he could have gone 10-0 in the finals against Jordan. Maybe not :). Bird’s best trash talk moment didn’t even make this video. It was against Craig Ehlo who made some smart ass comments about defense to Larry walking off the court at the half. Bird told him there are two halves, then came out and dropped 30+ in the second half. Made the last one on Ehlo to win the game, left handed, AND ASKED HIM IF HIS MOM WAS WATCHING!!! ☠️☠️☠️
The white guy by whom he felt disrespected was Dan Majerle. Dude was an All-Star. Bird just made him LOOK like a nobody. No shame in that, though. Bird made Hall of Famers lol like nobodies. Ask MJ how many playoff games he won against Bird.
Talking about fast, Im not sure if it was the same situation or another one but he pump faked and as the guy jumped passed Larry told him something similar and bumped him in the butt with the ball before shoting and scoring.
If I had to guess, the white guy Barkley was talking about was either "White Lightning" Bobby Jones or more likely, Marc Iavoroni. The "Preacher" comment was because Robert Reid looked like a biblical figure.
@@imweakfordeaky and Reid once said, in an interview before a game, that he was confident of his team getting the win against the Celtics because he had prayed on it. 🤷🏻♀️

"Is Larry Bird better than Jordan?" Well, statistics aside - He swept Jordan in the playoffs three times. Never lost to Jordan is a pretty good look on any ball player's resume.

Bird was my favorite player. But I have to admit that he is not better than Jordan. However if his playing era overlapped with that of Lebron and Kobe's he would be the best player.
I can't say the Bird had a better career than Jordan. What I CAN say is that MJ was 0-his entire existence against Larry in the Playoffs, Bird had an overall winning record against MJ, even when he got Pippen, and MJ was 100% NOT a rival to Bird. He was consistently worse than Bird, Magic, and Zeke's teams during the entire 80's run. MJ didn't win until all the 80's guys aged out.
Saying racist things about whites doesn't make it any less racist because he's white does it? But to be fair Barkley did put him on the spot by asking him what's wrong, by being annoying and not minding his own business.
U asked the question was bird better yes bird was better he didn’t just score he did a lot more as well jordan was all hype n marketing I mean ya he was athletic but it was like watching dr j again like Kobe to jordan no big deal n jordan never beat a championship team in the FINALS!!!!

Larry Bird was the Truth
theres more check out (THE 5 TIMES LARRY BIRD PLAYED HURT AND REFUSED TO QUIT) He platyed at a elite level with a lot of serious injuries
you can have all the skills- but if you let someone get in your head- you lose
Larry Bird shut down M.J. twice in the playoffs.
Is Bird better than Jordan? I'll go with no, but closer than you think for 2nd. He's better than anyone in today's game, though
I’ve got them at 1a and 1b, depending on my mood. I think Bird had more skill but Jordan had more athletic ability.
@@hookedonreactions7649 agreed! Whenever asked the GOAT question I always respond with Jordan/ Bird.
Larry was beating up on someone and during the game said "I hope your mother's not watching this"
Larry Legend was the only one MJ never got the best of Larry Bird 6 MJ 0 against Larry MJ got swept 2 times in the finals by Larry and the Celtics ☘️
I recommend, Making the Case: Wilt Chamberlain.
In 6 playoff games, Bird beat Jordan 6 out of 6 times. Bird 6, Jordan 0. Case closed lol
How is the case closed? Larry had an all time team..Jordan had Kyle Macy and Dave Corzine lol.
I think Jordan is the goat, but Bird was a better team player. I also think Pistol Pete should be in any discussion of who was the greatest player ever to play the game.
@@arthurnelson they wouldn't have met in the finals because they were both in the Eastern Conference.
@@legionsherwood2163 but jordan beat more 50 and 60 win teams than just about anyone else and he had an easy road?
MJ is the greatest player of my generation. But Larry is my favorite player. Greetings from Lima, Perú.
Shoutout to you 🫡
Bird averaged more assists per game than Allen Iverson, Kyrie Irving, Dwyane Wade, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, etc. He also averaged more rebounds per game than Patrick Ewing, Chris Webber, Ben Wallace, Giannis, Robert Parish, Alonzo Mourning, Chris Bosh, Etc. In the past 50 years, only two other players have slightly better stats than Larry Bird and that Michael Jordan and LeBron James
In the past 50 years, here are the highest Total Career Avg Stat Points (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK)
#1) Jordan = 44.7
#2) LeBron = 44.4
#3) Bird = 43.1
#4) Kareem = 42.9
#5) Durant = 40.8
#6) Magic = 40.2
Just to put things into perspective:
Total Stat Points (Career Avg PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK)
Bird: 24.3 PPG / 10.0 RPG / 6.3 APG / 1.7 SPG / 0.8 BPG = 43.1
Curry: 24.3 PPG / 4.6 RPG / 6.5 APG / 1.7 SPG / 0.2 BPG = 37.3
Bird was one of the greatest all-around players of All-Time...if not the greatesEven LeBron said he learned so much from him
Should react to LarryBird Alpha Male Rookie bro disrespected pistol pete
Clyde the Glide my favorite player of all time
That white guy is Bobby jones one of the best defenders ever
Talking about fast, Im not sure if it was the same situation or another one but he pump faked and as the guy jumped passed Larry told him something similar and bumped him in the butt with the ball before shoting and scoring.
Larry Bird top 5 easy
If I was picking a team, I would pick Bird before Jordan. Mainly to keep the other team from getting him. I would prefer both of them.
6-0 in the playoffs against Jordan enough said lol Jordan said he was happy Bird retired
If I had to guess, the white guy Barkley was talking about was either "White Lightning" Bobby Jones or more likely, Marc Iavoroni. The "Preacher" comment was because Robert Reid looked like a biblical figure.
Reid was *very* religious (Pentecostal) and even briefly retired to focus on his faith.
@@imweakfordeaky and Reid once said, in an interview before a game, that he was confident of his team getting the win against the Celtics because he had prayed on it. 🤷🏻♀️
BOBBY JONES? I DOUBT IT. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!! YEAR IN & YEAR OUT HE WAS ALWAYS RECOGNIZED AS ONE THE BEST DEFENDERS IN THE NBA. IT DID NOT MATTER WHAT HIS SKIN COLOR WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, talk over every moment so you don’t hear any of it, genius!
Watch Wilt Chamberlain as well if you're looking for greatness, and I am a Larry Bird fan.
Larry the legend Bird is a better all-around player than Jordan
Bird beat everyone great at his time. Jordan beat every great at his time,,, except Bird. Larry Bird is 6-0 in the finales against Jordan. Two sweeps. Bird is the founding member of the 50, 40, 90 club, and the only one to do it twice.
Steve Nash did it 4 times. Bird still did it twice before anyone else even did it once, though.
@@cirrustate8674 TY, I didn't know that.
Bird retired in 93 bulls already had 3 chips by then. If they would have faced the C's in a playoff match the bulls would have swept the Cs
What?
Byrd swept jordan...Twice..I was a tarheels fan when Jordan came up,he was a beast but Byrd was a better all around team player
"Is Larry Bird better than Jordan?"
Well, statistics aside - He swept Jordan in the playoffs three times. Never lost to Jordan is a pretty good look on any ball player's resume.
There are other great Larry trash talking videos to be watched. Are you going to talk over them, too?
First time I've heard a black guy mispronounce "Holmes"
Every era has it's greatest player. Larry Bird could play and dominate in any era. That's not greatness. That is monarnichal
Pause the video kid whenever you talk
You’re talking over the video. Pause so you don’t miss what’s being said,
Here’s a fact! Jordon is my pick. Having said that Jordon lost to him twice in the playoffs. Not even close. 3-0. 3-0.
This is why I can not put Lebron over Bird.. Lebron had a better career, and Bird was the better player.
White guy was probably Ivaroni
Larry wanted to play the best, and the white guy was usually not the best on the team.
MJ never beat Bird in post season games.
If you haven't seen it already, try ruclips.net/video/QRHZToVAEFA/видео.html It's about 5 times Larry was injured and came back. If after seeing that you can't bring yourself to say he's the GOAT, trash talking and all, then there's no hope for you.... lol JK It's just a game, right?🏀
Legend was better than Jordan it took the retirement of both Bird and Magic for Jordan to start his domination
Hey, MJ never won a championship until Larry retired. Think about it.
How about a Bird game winner in Jordan and Pippen's face? ruclips.net/video/JAos_lOc90o/видео.html
it's not trash talk if you are backing it up. its called fact. get over it
idk if he's better than Jordan, but both are better than James.
*Larry Bird pelts the ball full court instead of giving it to Jordan*
This nìgga, does this make Bird better than Jordan. Are you ESPN ?
Larry Legend was the only one MJ never got the best of Larry Legend 6 MJ 0 Larry Legend and the Celtics swept MJ 2 times in the finals 🐐🐐☘️👍🏀
As great a player as Bird was... MJ was/is the greatest player ever.
U asked the question was bird better yes bird was better he didn’t just score he did a lot more as well jordan was all hype n marketing I mean ya he was athletic but it was like watching dr j again like Kobe to jordan no big deal n jordan never beat a championship team in the FINALS!!!!
Jordan never beat Larry in the playoffs.
I'm going to try one more but if I can't hear what they're saying I'm wasting my time here.
All sports are soft now.. it's sad
Dude! You're flapping your gums over these guys stories! STOP ALREADY!!!
Not only are you pissing me off, YOU'RE MISSING STUFF. CUT IT OUT!!
This video is about TRASH TALKING and you're missing a lot of it cuz YOU'RE talking while THEY'RE talking.
Still. Running. Your. Mouth. Dislike
You asked the question is bird better than Jordan, well if you watch the video about it Jordan will tell you that the times that he battled bird on the court he never beat Larry legend, and that always bothered him.😅
Dude would you stop talking over the video!!!!!
Jordan beat Bird but Bird is 100% better than James.
bird is not better than jordan. u can ask bird.
