May be a couple of bad batches of County level cricket balls were made from poorer quality leather softening up quicker and loosening the stitches. It is a tannery problem like Mr. Jajodia explains in this video. Still the 'best of the best' balls in the world.

Bowlers are never happy, they'll complain about ANYTHING if they're not taking wickets.............nothing wrong with the Dukes ball!
