    Mate if you want rock solid to the point of absolutely no motor vibration and truly the end of the dyna wobble then do as I did..research the Kinetic motor mount for dyna v twin,this is totally innovative this will eliminate any vibration I mean any !and this coupled with the true trac system absolutely rock solid Honestly mate look it up you won’t be disappointed bro regards Lozza

    Bingo ! You solved it for me....the fork legs can move slightly up / down but not totally true to square--i.e. the front wheel can wiggle out of vertical. Started by the bump at centerline--knocks the wheel out of vertical. Needs a stiffer 'squaring' clamp on axle, or retrofit a squareness brace on upper end of legs.

    This is not just a Dyna problem. It's inherent in most Harleys. I had a 2009 Road Glide that gave me the wobble severely more than once.I also bought a 2021 Street Glide that has given me this issue. I took it in for a check and they said they tightened up the front end (whatever that means). Anyway, it is a known problem with Harleys and "can" be fixed by buying more after market stuff that will resolve the issue. Now, I'm no expert, that I'll admit up front. But I've been riding since I was fourteen and now I'm sixty one. I've ridden many, many bikes Harley's, Honda's, Yamaha's, Kawasaki's, BMWs etc,etc. This is a known problem endemic to Harley Davidson motorcycles I just don't know why Harley doesn't fix it. Period. ( and then you wonder why they can't sell their bikes to a younger crowd?) I love my Harley, don't get me wrong but HD does stand for Hundred Dollars coz every time you bring it in for maintenance...even under "warranty" well, you know.

    My dyna never wobbled. 2012 fxdb legends front and rear. I did a mag conversion now it wobbles. The mechanics logic was I've lost the flex of spokes that was absorbing the wobble. Now I have straight solid mags and I'm getting the wobble. Apparently my engine mount is shot. He suggested I get the front mount and swing arm bushings replaced since I'm under warranty. He also suggested an engine stabilizer. I'm so stressed out. If I can't safely place my bike where it needs to be on the highway or blast high-speeds in a straight line my dynas useless. I pack ride and go the distance. Ride quality is poor now. When there's something wrong with my bike, my world seems to crumble. Super depressed.

    Ive had this issue as well with my 2012 Dyna. I tried everything, spent over 4k with suspension and got rid of spoke wheels and got a stabilizer etc. I still wasn't happy at the end of the day and sold the bike after I realized how much money I spent on a 96 cubic inch harley with 86 horse power or so. I think its stupid how much money we dyna guys have to spend to make "Harleys performance line up ..the dyna" actually preform hahaha. I love Harleys and always will. they are awesome however I am looking at other options out there like a BMW s1000xr. Rode one and it felt like how I always wanted my Dyna to ride. Just my 2 cents, not knocking Harley or the Dyna, I am just disappointed. Good video btw.

    • @admiralbeez8143

      They should come from the factory with a frame and suspension set up that’s wobble proof. It’s the 21st Century, no excuse for shoddy engineering. Lots of bikes have dual rear shocks and rubber mounted engines and do not wobble.

  • @montanaairframer2517
    @montanaairframer2517 6 лет назад +10

    Dyna wobble is absolutely a thing and caused by an inferior designed engine/trans/swing arm mount system and suspension. This happens both at high speed cornering and straight line high RPM running. The vibrations from the unbalance motor get transmitted through the swing arm and tire. All the things mentioned such as tire pressure, tire wear, and fork oil will alleviate the symptoms a bit but what will cure it is performance suspension AND performance motor mounts front and rear. HDs aren't made to ride as hard as people are riding these days from the factory. They are all pretty much entry level bikes on the showroom floor. Stock sucks. Buy used and upgrade!

    For anyone reading and watching, please let me make a tire suggestion. Over the years I have experimented with most all brands of tires. My go to tires are the MICHELIN COMMANDER 2, and my personal Dyna gets ridden quite aggressively, not abused, but ridden. Unfortunately the tires I dislike the most, are the ones I change out the most, and that's the Dunlop D402, with the HARLEY DAVIDSON on the sidewall. The K591 MIGHT be a better option, but I refuse to try them, or waste my customers money on them.
    🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸
    Remember folks, if you change tires from stock, USE THE RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE BY THE MANUFACTURER, NOT the recommended pressure in the Service Manual.

    My 2003 Dyna low rider same thing. The rubber motor mounts are crap. I replaced them with new ones, new tires, trued the spokes, new fork seals and springs got an alignment nothing work. Finally put front and rear stabilizers and no more motor bouncing up and down while frame going left to right. I would suggest doing the same. Good luck to ya.

      Was your swing arm bushing and bearing worn out? Usually when those wear out they cause excessive wear and tear on your rear motor mount and that combination can also cause a real bad handling issue. Glad to see your handling problems are over. I'm also glad to hear a dealership stepped up to help you with this. Out here they normally won't add on an aftermarket stabilizer link at the rear motor mount. Glad it worked for you. Have a good ride.

    Fork braces, and when trying to hold bars steady, I loosen my grip and it gets better, trying to hold it from oscillation is difficult due to not being stable sitting on a seat and wobble just transfers to your upper body then you have an opposite frequency causing what is similar to oversteering, I found that almost lightening up on grip helps in my situation but is also dangerous if experimenting.

    • @miguelsalgado4673
      @miguelsalgado4673 4 года назад

      It is normal for the dyna to wobble a bit, because the rear swingarm is bolted to the transmission case, and a rubber mount to the frame so that's where the wobble comes in, also you do initiate it more when you put a death grip on the bars, but a wobble like that in a straight line can mean the neck bearings are loose

    • @thomasmarchese2808

      Thats not why it did it. You have less control with forwards. Motor mounts, swing arm bushings, tire pressure/balance/tread, steering head torque aka "fall away" And suspension are what cause wobbles.

    I had the same problem. The rubber engine mount are soft-losse because there are not new and that is the wobble. The problem is if you put stiffer mounts its gonna be better but you will get more vibrations. First ride on my bike and I didn't like that rubber feeling between my and road, plus the wobbles... The first month I was more reading on internet than driving the bike lol. If I know that before I will buy only softail. The feeling is like driving saab 9-3. What help fix this wobbles and also get rid of that rubber feeling is to put front and rear stabilisers. No wobbles and the feeling is 90% of full frame bike what is all bikes on the word except this hd lol... BTW the wheel alignment doesn't help because you have only 2 wheels then they cant have problem. Yes the body of the bike will not be straight-parallel with wheels but the two wheels will be always parallel between to other. You can not make two wheels unparalleled at all because then you actually turning. One more thing- I also did put fork brace and yes helps a lot. The bottom of the fork is bad bad. The axlebolt where is attached to the fork all that mount is weak. It is actually looks like joke that two screws on the right fork what is hold the axelbolt. Any another bike has clamp on that bottom.

    A list from greatest cause to lesser causes of wobble , loose or worn out neck bearings, loose or worn swing arm bearings, loose or worn wheel bearings , worn tires , incorrect pressure , out of balance wheels , worn suspension components, loose motor mounts, or rubber vibration isolators , weight distribution..At the Toronto bike show , between 1978 & 1980, BMW took their largest displacement bike, & (on a closed course in a straight line), put a single 15 to 20 pound weight on it, & shifted it from the back of the bike forward, & then in different locations that drivers would normally carry weight .This was to imitate adding a fairing or luggage etc .The bike developed a near tank slapping wobble at 86 mph ! Consider that it was a new bike on a closed course ,& that it cost twice the price of the same displacement japanese bike!.. Seems like a front tire out of balance problem. Then I'd suspect neck bearings. But yea tire pressure and balance. I was at the sand dunes with my tw200. To get through the sand I let pressure out of the rear. It was fine. Then I figured let air out of the front tire. I go going and immediately fell off the bike.

    I've got a street Bob with 40k miles. Ridden like I hate it constantly. Front motor mount is most definitely shot and probably the rear as well. Cheap mismatched shinko tires, and static balanced wheels with fishing weights. And super tall T bars. It had a head shake problem at 15k and I replaced the neck bearings and torqued them to 90 ft pounds because of the Harley under torque problem. I can ride it at triple digit speeds with no crazy sh#t like that.

    • @dynakac3502
      @dynakac3502  6 лет назад

      I just hit 40k not to long ago and i'm pretty sure I need neck bearings. Bars straight dead on it feels a little loose in the front. Move them just a hair left/right and it feels nice and tight.

    • @yamahale
      @yamahale 6 лет назад

      Eric McGraw you most certainly did NOT torque the steering head bearings to 90lbs, the stem wouldn't turn then. You must be confusing the crown nut with the bearings. The bearing adjustment is a touch over hand tight.

    I installed Progressive 444 shocks & Alloy Art Combi Stabilizer Kit on my '08 fxdb and I have 16" apes, the stock shocks suck. Similar issue on turns but I feel it comes from the forks, just don't think they stay perfectly parallel on bumps in turns. Only thing I can think of is get inverted forks if you can afford em. These bikes were never designed for turns I guess either way I twist the throttle and all worries go away.

    • @dynakac3502
      @dynakac3502  6 лет назад

      444 aren't the greatest but should be much better than stock. It wasn't until after I did the rear shocks that I realized how bad the front end was. Terry cable has got dampening rods to help or race tech has got some stuff aswell. Hands down an inverted front end would be killer but there are other mods that can be done for much cheaper to get the bike to handle better.

    • @montanaairframer2517
      @montanaairframer2517 6 лет назад

      In my 2016 I have the 12.5" 444s in the rear and up front the Progressive Monotube systems. It's WAY better than stock but I wish I knew about Legend Suspension and Racetech before I bought them. Inverted is better but you can build an awesome front end with parts from Racetech for a lot cheaper that will perform pretty close to the same on the street. RWD is entering the market with shocks too.
