  • While storms such as #debbydowner are frequently known for the destruction and danger they cause, in the 1780's it was the fog and mist from a storm that allowed the Overmountain men to surround Kings Mountain undetected. Encampments along the Cherokee Ford and throughout Cherokee County SC were host to both Loyalists and Patriots preparing to engage in the many battles and skirmishes of the American Revolution's Southern Campaign.
