I think its a matter of just how soon at this point. There are already a few IR sensors that support guncons on the Mister. So its just a matter of the Saturn cores being compatible. Which is in progress. Id say by next year the latest. But its always hard to gauge progress on the cores. Especially since most of the devs are doing analogue pocket FPGA in parallel. Yes, more content on gun4ir. Ich have never used a system that is more hassle free and accurate than this. I build everything DIY and it's a breeze. The software needs ports and integrations in every mayor emulation, the MiSTer, then original hardware. It is the solution we are waiting for since 2003.

The camera wasnt in the way with those glitches, the camera was further back than the gun. I bought an ems topgun 15 years ago. I thought there would be bigger improvements with the best light guns on the market today. Still laggy, still glitchy. Bit sad. It should be possible.
It’s in the way of direct line of sight. I was at a 45 degree angle over to the side of the camera. Which obscured its view of one IR sensor. In the way = I’m the area you should be holding the controller
Sinden Lightgun has a little bit of setup but based on all the videos I've seen, it's faster than Gun4IR, though that's probably dependent on your system. Also they're cheaper and in stock.
Having both I would disagree. Both work well and I doubt end users could perceive noticeable difference. The Sinden software has additional CPU load and the added border, both which the GUN4IR don't. If you have the skills (or know someone who can do it for you), the Gun4IRs are cheaper and you have a choice in gun shells as well. I will agree I was shocked at some of the prices for premodded Gun4IRs thought. JB's recently released PCBs sure make the task much easier.
@@VideoGameEsoterica A lot also depends on where you live. My first 2 GUN4IRs took some time (mostly because of old eyes and rusty soldering skills), but using JB's PCBs and 3D printed parts I was able to convert a Guncon2 conversion yesterday with Solenoid and rumble in a little over an hour. Much easier and cleaner especially if doing a Guncon1/2 conversion. Too bad there isn't a PIF program like printing Voron parts to get these in more users hands. Nice to share these fun classics that newer generation haven't seen. Tactile gun ouputs just adds so much more to these games.
Depends on the game / how it functions. Crosshairs can be turned off for light gun games. For x/y coordinate (analog) lightgun style games the crosshair is in the game assets itself
I wonder if you have access or could compare those with the Retro Shooter one's (comes with a Pandora's box, don't care, but with the PC module to use it for Mister / emulation)
the best thing that could ever happen to lightguns would be if someone were to make a program that somehow could auto detect what lightgun you have and automatically tell emulators how to talk to it. the setup is such a hassle.
How come you didn't use two sets of sensors? I thought the official recommendation from Gun4IR was 2 sets for screens larger than 65"? I wonder if your experience would be even better then...
The screen is 65” and I had no issues with visibility of LEDs. Did I say 70” in the video? I have another tv in another room that’s 70” that I don’t use for the channel snd maybe I conflated the sizes in VO

If they work good, then that could be an option for anyone who already have Guncon 3's lying around but it might be smarter to build an actual Gun4IR if they don't since Guncon 3's are becoming rare and expensive.
