A few answers to your questions: part 1. Pirate King was filmed in Morocco, as was Treasure. They didn’t have much money so the filmed in free locations and it was so hot the soles of their shoes melted. Seonghwa’s name, in Korean the eo (어) makes a sound somewhere between oh and uh, so it could also be spelled Sunghwa. Hopefully that helps with your pronunciation. The guys in the black hats are Halateez, the Ateez members from another dimension. Since ATEEZ’s lore involves inter dimensional travel it makes sense that they might meet themselves while in another dimension. Halateez pops up a lot in the Ateez storyline, helping Ateez to fight against the bad guys with no faces.

Exactly. Technically in the lore they are called “the back pirates,” but fans stated calling them Halateez after the Hala Hala video and it stuck and now even Ateez call them Halateez sometimes.

Ateez never disappoints! HALA HALA introduces us to (as we lovingly call them) Halateez. Ateez’s alternate egos from Universe Z. San has broken several mics performing this song live. If you ever have a chance to see them in concert GO! They are just as amazing live as they are in the videos.

It’s impossible to have a bias in Ateez because they all stand out and each one of them is perfection. Literally each one of them could be the main dancer/singer in any other kpop group. I just change my bias every week to give them each individual attention lol. Their songs are the same way, all amazing…top tier production. Anyway I could go on and on about how amazing they are 😅

A few answers to your questions part 2: (even if you didn’t specify ask them) In The Real, that “paint brush” that Seonghwa was holding is actually a whisk. In Chinese and Korean culture it’s a symbol of power and office that can only be held by those who are high in the government or the nobility. Kinda like how in European culture kings hold scepters, which serve no earthly purpose that I can think of except to beat people into submission. They zoomed into the book in Mingi’s waistband because it had just deflected a punch and they wanted you to see that the title of the book was 도덕 (do deok) which means morals or morality. Since this song is about being a good person. The other word that they show a lot in The Real is 멋 (meot) which they translate in the subtitles as “style,” but when I was first learning Korean I was taught that 멋다 was equivalent to the English slang for cool. So the spoken parts of this song could also be translated as, “this is what cool is.”

And what a powerful debut it was. When i first saw the mv, i couldn't get over Wooyoung's (purple hair in here) stankface. The audacity! I love it! You don't often get a stankface in a debut mv 😂😂

You need to check out a video on Ateez’s Demon Line 😈 They serve visuals, stage possession & charisma. If you like performances check out Ateez’s Halloween songs, especially Wonderland (Special Halloween Stage) & Pirate King (Zombie Version). Fun fact, most of the live stages connect to the storyline. The brush Hwa has in The Real came from BTOB’s Minhyuk during the Mayfly Colors stage on the show Kingdom. Ateez have zero misses. There’s some I don’t have on repeat daily playlist, but if they come on, I don’t skip them.

ngl Sav, I've been there. I have had many chances to get into kpop, since like 2015 (yes i know smh) but I took one look at the bright colours n was like nah, not for me (cant remember the mv), then I lots of class mates introducing me to BTS, I still didnt get into kpop, but i saved some got7 & exo songs (just right, got7 & overdose, exo for example are still on my old sd cards lol).
Also, since 2018, I frequently watched dance videos, I also saw the KQ Fellas dance on youtube, watched it, didnt think it had anything to do with Kpop (CRIES, I KNOW). I was also watching the dance crew that ATEEZ trained with in LA, but didnt even KNOW that Yunho was in one of the dance videos.
Then in 2020, I saw Jin's Epiphany live from yt recs n was like hold up wtf is this (he sounded immaculate). I was just getting into kdramas at that time, so when i was looking up the show i was watching, the devils judge, I was further introduced to Got7 due to Jinyoung (the actor in The Devil's Judge) then BTS because of Jin (lol I know the 2 Jins got me into Kpop). So I get you, but to be honest, I like being here now, I'm older (21 ew i cant believe im adult) n can handle the community as well as take the time to relate to the lyrics & appreciate the music.
As the Kpop Fandom has said, Kpop Finds you when you need it to. & that is so right, I found Jin's Epiphany when i needed to be reminded to love myself. I found Got7 when I needed to learn more about kpop easier & I needed a distraction cause times were hard(cause they have like 3 english speakers & they are very distinguishable from each other so it was so easy to learn them)& I needed a distraction cause times were hard (my mom was sick n we were broke broke, but we bonded over kpop n had SO Much fun ngl).
I found Ateez when I wanted something different (the lore, the insane stage prescence) & to be surprised. So, who knows, maybe you were meant to find Kpop now. But like Ateez said, I, you, we the Atiny, are their Destiny. So, maybe, it was just destined to be.
Whoa lol, I didn't expect that to get so deep lmao, thanks for reacting man, love your videos, Never change.

I am also a big fan of the anti-drop and Ateez is famous for them. The last few seconds of most mv's usually give a hint to what song is next in the order of the storyline. I also REALLY recommend the dance practices because they go HARD. Loved your reaction!!

I'm also newer to K-pop... I'm a little over a year in if we count stuff I randomly got fed by Spotify while going through K-drama OSTs, and officially hit a year with intentionally searching K-pop next month (November). I love that ATEEZ was the first group I watched on RUclips (first song/MV was Answer, and I've been under their spell since day 1), and I am so grateful for all of the wonderful ATINY who supported them through the years to help them get to where they are now, but yeah there are definitely times when I wish I could've come across them back in 2018 and been along for the whole ride. I'm a total nerd (for music and just in general), so I would've been in it for the lore and lyricism from the very beginning.
If it makes you feel any better, though, I've been through their whole discography (apart from the many remixes) at least once, and I have no favorite songs either... I'd be hard-pressed to give you a top 20, in fact, because they're all too good. They're not all "daily listen" songs, granted, but they're all wonderful. I'll also say that not one of their songs is exactly like any other; that isn't hyperbole, no exaggeration, just facts. So the safest way to experience ATEEZ is to not have expectations on what anything will sound like. It's going to be great, just might not be what's expected! They have such a wide range of variety available across their discography, so I think you'll be pleasantly surprised as you go through it all.
I will reiterate, since you specifically asked -- no, they don't have a bad song, lol. There are some you might not like because it's not your style (you being a general thing, not necessarily saying you specifically won't like something), but they're all good. There was ONE that I didn't take to immediately... my first listen was in the car, and it was just kind of "noisy" on my ears, so I avoided it for a while... then a friend of mine reacted to the selfie video they did for it and it was just a really fun little jam, and now it's actually played rather often (even in my car). They're literally the ONLY group to have zero misses for me; that's counting every English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Taiwanese, and whatever other language I've ever listened to... for any artist or group or band that I have heard more than 10 songs by, there's always at least 1 miss, except for ATEEZ. It's why they're my ult group and always will be, even if they do end up with a miss somewhere in the future.

      @nikole4042 Год назад +3

      ----- WAVE
"Hakuna Matata" really is a Swahili phrase that means "no worries", which fits perfectly with the theme of the song here as they talk about how they can overcome waves together regardless of how difficult they might be, so don't worry and just keep moving forward. Because of "Wave", I can't say it any other way now, I'm too used to singing it this way.
      ----- THE REAL
For "The Real", 흥 means "fun" in Korean, and 興 is Chinese that can be translated as "begin, flourish, get up, permit, become popular, prosper"... so it could really be read in several ways, based on which meaning of the Chinese character is used. It's one of the many instances of them giving us their meaning while also leaving it fully open to interpretation. The primary themes we see in all the written bits throughout the MV are things like being yourself, keeping the faith, being humble and kind, and having passion. I won't go into details about the inspiration for the MV and all, as I know someone has undoubtedly already done that in an earlier comment.
Yeosang, throughout their storyline, has a connection to birds and the bread is undoubtedly related to that (unless it's also just an homage reference to the work that inspired this MV). The "fight" was more of an "with our characteristics combined" kind of moment -- what started as a strict code of morals is now a revised version of how being true to yourself while fostering positive traits like the ones seen all through the MV is the path to true "coolness" or "style", instead of chasing the latest trends or just sticking to what you're told to do; at least, that's the best way I can explain how I interpret it, lol. The apple break in the credits is a direct call-back to their Kingdom performance of this; the song was first revealed for their finale on the show, and Jongho broke an apple at the end there.
This is one of the very (very) few that I would say might not be strictly storyline (as far as I know, we've never been told one way or the other on that one), BUT with that said it's still entirely feasible that it could be because of the existence of a certain yellow dust (in Strictland) that makes you hallucinate (it's behind what we see in "Illusion", for instance). So while I don't recall reading anything in the diary entries that would indicate this one being part of it, it's still possible to make it fit if someone had the desire to do so. (And I know there are definitely theoryTINY out there who do their best to figure out how every single song, MV, stage performance, etc. could possibly fit together within the lore/storyline.)
      ----- HALA HALA
YES! I love it when people actually pick up on them twisting their own necks at the end. The chorus includes a line that gets translated as "Suicide Squad the reality", and the choreo just goes right along with that as they kill themselves off at the end. I've only seen a few people get it with their first MV watch, though, so yay! The dance practice shows it much more clearly, of course... and all the dance practices are amazing. And it is Wooyoung at the end, yes.

    • @nikole4042
      @nikole4042 Год назад +3

      ----- OTHER THOUGHTS
Most of us refer to ATINY who are really interested in the lore as loreTINY... my "theoryTINY" above is basically referencing someone who is heavily interested in the lore but also tries to work out theories that fill in the blanks and fit all or most of the pieces together. There's nothing wrong with theories, I just tend to shy away from them myself because it's easy to get invested in an idea and then feel a little let down when the story expands and you realize that theory wasn't the direction they went with it... theory also makes it harder for me to remember things, because I'd like to not have to constantly change the story in my own head every time they release a new video or diary with new information.
"Turbulence" is actually an amazing song. It's slower, and deeply emotional even without reading the lyrics/translation because you can feel it in their voices.

Not to sway you more towards being a Hongjoong fan (like myself😏), one fun fact about lyrics in Say My Name, at the end of Hongjoong's rap verse, the beginning of his lines spell out ATEEZ (in Korean/English) like a cipher. His lyrics:
    (에)워싸 두르고 지켜봐
    (이)름 딱 네 글자 여기다
    (티)나게 남겨놔
(Z)oom in here, Cause I’m the Captain
In parentheses are where he spells Ateez! He does something similar in Halazia, where he counts down the end of his verse! If it isn't pointed out in that video, I'll share that tidbit there (creds to atiny twitter community!!)

It’s ok to call Yeosang “perfect man”, Sav. We usually do. He’s a god damn ethereal prince. 😂
If it makes you feel better, it took me 4 years to find my ATEEZ bias. I could never choose. They all came at me and wrecked me. Then I saw them live last November. Yunho took me by the heart.
The Drive Dance (which is what they call it) in Say My Name IS in Just Dance 2024! It’s like the major point of it.
It’s typically San that’s harmonizing with Jongho in the early albums. Later on they start experimenting which is how we ended up with Jongho harmonizing with “perfect deep voice man” Yeosang on Dune.
It’s fun to listen to their music evolve. The Treasure albums are kind of light and airy. Fever albums start getting a bit heavier with each album. The World albums go hard. Hongjoong has said their next releases are going to be in crazier than bouncy and I seriously don’t know how the hell they could do that.

Variety, you say? I know you are not so much into slow songs, but you should check out their slower songs like Turbulence, Be With You, Light, Take Me Home, The Letter, etc.

Let me help. Seonghwa is pronounced Song-wah. Deep voice man is Yeosang.

Yunho also has a deep voice especially in Say my name

@nightowl7374 yes, but the one he keeps referring to a "deep voice guy" is Yeosang. Doberman and my bias. 🥰

Quick note: You can pretend the E in Seonghwa's name isnt there because you pronounce it as Song-hwa. You say the EO right when you say Yeosang's name, so just apply that to Seonghwa and you're good :D

Well done. Remember Atiny will come along (as they have with these vids) and give you background stuff and help you with any questions you might have.
Also, can we PLEASE get you a chair! I know you explained you're in between two beds but I don't care. Push the beds apart for the duration of recording and put a chair in there. It would also might work to just stand, maybe put your laptop or phone on something? After you've been recording for awhile and mention your knees hurting a part of my brain tingles and wants to find you something to sit on. I'm 127 years old (🤣). Trust me when I tell you: your going to want your knees later.

It's a sacrifice that must be made.
(I have a chair, but its small and uncomfortable since its one of those metal unfoldable ones but its the only one that fits lol, so sometimes I find my knees more comfortable even tho they end up hurting after like 20 minutes)
