Dear Sir, what is the best option for immobilization for c1 and c2 fracture. The person is 82yo , not paralysed, communicative and vital, the injury happened 6 days ago. She is not up to doing surgery or wearing halo because of her age. This is the diagnosis: S12.0 S12.1 Transverse fracture of the base to the right of the axis, fracture with diastasis in the region of the posterior arch of the atlas, expressed on the left
I have have a jefferson fracture mine was unstable. I was held down and a halo mounted on me as treatment. It was ome of the worst experiences of my life. I had the halo changed twice. So all together over 3 months i had 3 halos placed on me. Please if your a doctor out there or some type of medical professional. Please dont use halos as treatment for this type of fracture. Unless you know 99.5 percent of time it will work. The trauma it causes the patient isnt worth it. The rime i spent getting the halos on were more painful than the actual injury. At least for that my body just went numb for a little bit and i got sleepy from the concussion I had. But please give what i say some thought. If it saves even 1 person from that very painful experience.
A great video, thank you!

So sorry to hear about this experience, but thank you for sharing so publicly. It's always good for patients to share their experiences, good or bad.
Thank you
