If you strip a bolt hole on a block or other aluminum threads, you aren't screwed. If you use a King Cert or Timecert you will actually be stronger than it was before. Its basically like a steel sleeve. You drill threads out and retap the hole. Then the Timecert gets red locktighted in and has your original thread in it. Now that the material is steel on the threads you will have many more torquing cycles. We use then when head studs get pulled out on high boost engines.
Nice video. To get to the oil screen, did you need to loosen the rear set to remove the side cover. In other videos I've seen they remove the rear set but you seem to have removed the side cover without having to do this.
I reused the gasket that was there. Do not use a silicone gasket maker on these! Just get a new gasket from Honda if you are afraid to mess the old one up
I have the 4th 5th transmission noise issue on my 23 from under 250 miles. Based off what I read I’m gonna change oil and overfill the amount of oil and see if that works. This issues occurs after 20-30 mins of riding something to do with heat.
@@rioaxjenjsndbejs3613 unfortunately I don’t think Honda will fix this issue. They’re notorious for letting things slide and just fixing it with the next model/design. The 2017-2023 CBR1000rr’s have engine problems. Been there done that. They don’t care.
You 100% can! I just did an in depth oil change since the engine was new and it had silicone that broke away from factory which can cause that screen to plug up and slow oil flow.
I believe the manual says like every 4-6 thousand, I’m going to check mine every thousand since I beat on this thing pretty hard. Wish I could ride it right now but I went down hard on it about 2 weeks ago and had to have shoulder surgery!
@@DanesWorld2021 ahhh man that sucks. But I ride mine hard asf also. Practicing wheelies everyday and at 1500 miles currently with still factory oil 😅 I’m not riding because I put a new cam and intake on with Exhaust. So I’m waiting for stage 2 ecu. But I need that oil change asap. Thanks man
I came down a little weird from a second shift wheelie, threw me over the bars, landed straight on my shoulder and snapped my collarbone. It was super displaced so they had to put a plate and screws in
@@DanesWorld2021I hit some sand while leaned over in a turn and destroyed my collar bone too. Broken in 5 places and now have a titanium plate and 6 screws. Just shy of the first oil change when it happened. Hope you healed up well. Thanks for the video.

Found a rubber gasket in my oil after I changed it 2:00 can I still ride it or do I have replace it before riding, how important is it?

I did not remove the rear set, it maybe would have made it alittle easier but definitely not needed!
@@DanesWorld2021 Thanks heaps for the information. Really helps immensely!
Did you re seal the cover when cleaning the screen? Or was it a rubber gasket. Just got my 2023 grom

Damn I just bought the 22 new last week. But in Australia we won’t get it for a year like everything else
@@DanesWorld2021you ever get your grom?
Have you experienced the transmission problems with your grom? Wanting to buy one but have seen other videos about that issue that Honda won’t fix

@C A no, no they aren’t. Settle down super rider.
What we’re the torque specs on oil filter cover
How did those torque specs work for you ?what we’re they 8 ft/lb
what did you clean the screen and the area the screen sits in with?
Does anyone have a part number for this oil screen?
Ever come across your bike making a strange noise when over 6000 rpm? Sounds like a gripping or slight grinding noise?
You have the Grom transmission issues. Do some research, it's widespread
How did u remove the bolt behind the footrest bracket??
yea exactly my problem
Take off the brake and footrest pedals there should be a bigger bolt and a smaller bolt
not a chance I'm taking the case cover off to change the oil on a grom lol.
Specially on the older models with the oil spinner you should do!
2500km and i found 2mm thick mess and aluminium bits in the spinner….
You have to to clean the filter
How often should you change the oil on a grom?
Depends on how you ride. If you beat on it often, change often, easy cruising probably every 1k
@@KaleRussum who would go 4000...crazy.
Do not torque those case bolts unless you have a very accurate torque wrench
So... You don't put it back together? Yes being sarcastic, what do you consider a very accurate torque wrench?
@@dominicelek9394 hand tighten, tighten 1/8 of a turn by hand, criss cross pattern bottom bolt top bolt left bolt right etc

cant i just change the oil and filter?

I was hoping that the filter would eliminate the screen.😢
What you clean the screen with?
A little brake clean will do the job
@@DanesWorld2021 have you done a spark plug change yet?
Can we use any synthetic 10 30 oil ?
