- George Jeffreys - the forgotten composer of the English 17th century.
Solomon's Knot recorded the complete English vocal works for 4 and 5 voices with continuo by George Jeffreys (ca. 1610-1685), including many world-premiere recordings, at Kirby Hall in 2022. As part of the CD and digital recording, we discuss his work and life in this documentary film. Jeffreys was perhaps England's first baroque composer, and wrote sacred English vocal music in an Italian secular style.
