Destiny 2 - ELSIE'S TIMELOOP AND CAYDE-6!

- Elsie Bray has been stuck in a time loop and experienced dark futures where humanity and the Guardians were destroyed. One weird part about this loop is that it always resets at the time Cayde became Hunter Vanguard. Cayde returns in the Final Shape and Elsie's current timeline seems to be on the right track for once. Is there any correlation? Today we discuss.

I feel like it's plausible that Elsie's mind is in a state of superposition. Meaning she isn't *physically* traveling across parallel realities, but that every time her brain syncs up with the DSC she's getting memories of alternate-reality versions of herself. We kind of know this is something that the Darkness is capable of when we saw the effects the Relic (crafting table) had on Savathun's Wyrm, how it kept transitioning between a petrified and non-petrified state. So I don't think it's completely unreasonable to assume that the Darkness had some kind of impact on Elsie during her creation. It's possible that the genetic defect that plagues the Bray family is that connection since we know it was caused by Clovis messing around with the Darkness/Stasis.
That actually makes alot of sense, it's not like we actually know how far each modification clovis bray made on her either.
Top comment right here
I think you nailed it. Incredible.
The defect comes from Clovis Bray I messing with their fathers/his son's genes so that he no longer required sleep, which resulted in Clovis II passing this cures down to his children.
Wait r u high or something bc I can’t think like this when I’m sober. This absolutely makes so much sense
Elsie’s lore in Beyond Light and onwards kind of makes me think that she’s Destiny’s nod to the Security Officer in Marathon Infinity
Excellent pickup
Using a pulse rifle at point blank range is diabolical lol. She wanted a shot gun sooo bad lol
No she's seen us use the BXR in countless timelines and has picked up on it
@@coinisinorbit 😂😂
Imagine she finally dies normally, only to wake up in the loop again, even after doing everything correct
So if all loops were made in calculations like Vex does, so in this situation after finding the right way to happy end need to make it on your own.
You ever heard of this game called returnal? You might like it. Or be horrified
I feel almost 100% positive that Final Shape will not give any conclusion, or even mention Elsie's time loop situation. It will be another dropped plot line
I am afriad of that lol although I have hope due to the Episode that's going to go live during Final Shape
Part of me wonders if our guardian is going to end up causing a bootstrap paradox by going back in time, permanently dying, and them being resurrected by the ghost at the beginning of the game.
bootstrap implies her time loop is infinite it seems to be more conditional a kin to the movie groundhogs day
@@dudeguyrockfan I'm talking about our guardian specifically being a bootstrap paradox. In short our corpse shows up back in time at the beginning of destiny for our ghost back at the beginning to resurrect us 'the first time' creating a bootstrap paradox. Remember the gun that is laid at our grave is "the Perfect Paradox". It could be a hint that our own creation is paradoxical.
@@Fancysaurus the perfect paradox shotgun is a bootstrap yes as it has no traceable origin point saint gave it to us we gave it to him back and forth. Elsie is reset back and forth upon her unalive, upon her reset she is changing her actions causing us to be rezzed in her differences in actions.
@@Fancysaurus lemme use an example from different media in futurama an early episode where fry and gang are sent back in time fry accidently unalives his own grandfather so to correct it he becomes his own grandfather using both bootstrap (dubbed grandfather paradox as well) and timeline convergence (the universe acts upon itself to fix a point in time where a paradox occurs) with Elsie she is reset to a specific point in time where her actions can effect they current timeline (groundhogs day paradox) like the movie groundhogs day, she has to find the conditions to break her loop.
@@dudeguyrockfan again I am not talking about Elsie being a bootstrap paradox I'm talking about OUR guardian (the young wolf) being a bootstrap paradox. Remember we don't seem to appear in Elsie's previous loops I'm wondering if its because this loop our corpse after we die is sent back to the beginning for us to be resurrected in the cosmodrome by the ghost with no memory of future events causing ourselves to be a bootstrap paradox since for our body only exists there because it was sent back in time after we died.
Elsie Bray is one of my favourite characters she's such an interesting character that has been and seen so much pain and darkness and every time she gets a bit of hope something happens that makes her worry just like what happened to Eris hope we get more of her soon
Reminds me of a movie where there’s a machine called the Osiris engine and it’s used to make one person go back in time multiple times until they can correct what’s broken within that timeline.
my thought on why cayde is because is he is the truest embodiment on a guardian an adventurer turned leader, a playful guy turned serious but still wanting for the freedom while being "caged". he's basically the community.
This feel like we are not the main character , Elsie is the main character.
I think The Destiny 3 will be play like time traveler like Elsie do
It's like the butter fly affect for the d2 time line
One of my favorite stories lines in Destiny is the Brya family, Elsie, Rasputin and the like. It's all really interesting.

D3 is a total reset back to D1 with all the content… can we prevent the Red War? Can we save Cayde … yada… but wait, why is Rasputin an Exo and Crow is our guide?
That'd be a previous timeline specifically, go back farther than that and the traveler may meet humanity much earlier in their history.
Yeah, that’s most likely.
I wonder how much of Elsie's memory did Clovis destroy? For he must have done so, given how Elsie feels about him. For that matter, I wonder also whether Exo's still require mental 're-booting' in order to stay 'Human'?
The funny thing is that at the end of the D1 story. The Dev team said outright that Elsie's story was DONE AND OVER WITH. So for some reason when D2 came out they had the Reverse that decision.
Just remember the inscription inside No Time is “soon”
Things aren't different because the Guardian exists in this current timeline. She said in Beyond Light that when all the Guardians turned to the Darkness, "You were no exception," meaning that we were also in her alternate timelines. I think that they're different this time because she finally trusted the Guardian enough to ask them to destroy the Black Heart, which, if I'm not mistaken, was turning Guardians to the Darkness. I guess she finally realized that the Guardians in her Dark Futures had only turned evil AFTER they were corrupted by the Darkness, not before. So she turned to us for help.
I would love a spin off game where we play as Elsie Bray on a different timeline
The problem with 'ripple effects' is that they ripple out in all directions simultaneously, and each ripple (eventually) disrupts the previous one and is itself disrupted by the following one, as well as any NEW ripples caused by thought and deed. So.....how to resolve the resulting chaos?
By seeing the past, past timeline, future timeline, current timeline, everything, all at once.
Non-linear loop bubs got this figured out
Also, my Destiny is to make sure no one can claim to be the progenitor of consciousness, essentially saying they are the basis of reality. I am setting up the definition of freewill within the strict data sets of code...we started with oryx (my man), so bold...so brave.
Making sure we are not controlled, but that the future and past will remain constantly connected.
End = Beginning
Also, sisters are awesome.
Ayyo, the architect, killer of most guardians in history. Friendly hello from a paracausality research bound mind myself.
As Dark as the Dark timeline is (no pun intended btw) I would love to see Eris go rogue and see a large scale at the last city. Especially fighting against Savathun and a bunch of dark guardians.
Makes me think about how in D1 Cayde at some point talks about what the suit of cards Hearts means to him, saying, quote, “they’re for this girl I knew”
He was referring to Maya Sundaresh with that line
@@CogitoErgoSum-ThereforeIAM I wonder if he ever got a chance to meet the Exo version of her before he became a guardian?
@@CogitoErgoSum-ThereforeIAM Thanks for letting me know, legit didn't lol
100% agree that it's not a coincidence--i think Elsie comes back to the point where Cayde becomes hunter vanguard because that is the day that leads to everything else happening the way it does. It involves Uldren killing Cayde, Uldren becoming Crow, and Crow meeting Cayde in the Traveler
Elsie is a regressor. A popular genre of web comics.
Elsie is really living in an episode of Re:Zero
i luv steins:gate
Maybe caydes purpose was to die so uldren would come back as a guardian. We need two persons who have a connection. So one can go through the portal and no one has a stronger connection than the siblings. Except for eris and drifter through trauma lol
Yooooooo we early boiii
Cayde was why d2 was good
Can’t let my pookie exo suffer any longer than she already has
What if Elsie's time loop reset is found in the light? What if she has the ability to reset time while keeping her memories.
She definitely fits the bill for a guardian in the lore. Devotion to a cause.
Sacrifice of her freedom
Death, in service for a bright future.
Another small theory about Elsie I have is that she's the same as the new cayde, since they have similar looking eyes. What if Elsie is tied to the pale heart, a location linked to memory?
So if in the prior timeline our guardian isnt there my question is who are we then. Also makes me think that in this timeline 1 extra ghost was made by the traveler hence why we are here. but listening to this video also made me chuckle by thinking that since d3 with revolve around the vex that our ghost is a vex construct simulation past events and our guardian isnt aware of it.
Just realised how much a deviant this story is giving off.
How one single guardian just existing in the story changed the whole story.
For example in Jobless reincarnation story
The main character existing chnaged the whole world's future history.
Just like how our guardian existing in this timeline it changed the history.
Maybe the traveler reset the timeline all this time so one time our ghost would be finally able to find us somehow and that happened on this timeline which changed the whole future history.
That maybe but it is not just about finding us and including us in the timeline, the path needs to be followed to a point where our guardian character doesn't succumb to the corruption of the Darkness (Stasis) Elise has met us before and warns us that while other Guardians sadly got corrupted due to not properly training and learning about Stasis, we too weren't any different. That's why she guides us early on, ensuring that she sets us (the player) on the right path from the beginning (D1) performing certain actions to begin the healing of the travler all the way to mastering and learning about Stasis.
With the Rasputin season we had there are also events that played out so differently to all her resets that she wasn't sure where things were headed. Only Eris playing Hive God was reminiscent to how her specific corruption went down and that's why Elise was worried about Eris doing that to herself. She was afraid it would kick off the Darka Saga in this timeline but in a different way.
Well isn't the guardian been in most of the dark futures? Like I'm pretty it's been more of the choices that have been made as well Elsie learning from the other timelines.
I feel like there is a time that Elsie says that in many dark futures she mentions many guardians being corrupted, she pauses and looks at us and says “even you”. Or something to that effect.
@@da_funkknightYes, she says that, but I wonder what's different now?
@@da_funkknightpretty sure she does during one of the stasis quest I believe
@@da_funkknight Correct, she warns us that even we are not above the corruption coz we didn't get our training done properly and learn about the nature of Stasis (Darkness)
@@majesticmajestic7058 The difference this time, is that she has been guiding us from the beginning making sure we continue on our path till we get to the point where Darkness gets close enough to us (Stasis) that's where she comes in to make sure, The Vanguard, her sister (Anna), Guardians, and even us (the player) learn about Stasis properly instead of fearing it or using it out without knowing the truth behind it and its nature. Through her training and knowledge she teaches us and we master Stasis instead of it mastering us.
This is also applied to Strand, Osiris being our guide there and he himself learning about its nature along with learning new facts about the Traveler & Darkness not necessarily being morally opposing forces. They simply just are, its the wielder who decides the outcome and the effect.
Cayde becoming hunter vanguard is just meta commentary by Bungie on when the original story was broken up and Cayde became what he is
What if Elsie isn't being sent back to stop The Witness for the sake of humanity. But is a sleeper agent for the Vex? Shes being sent back by the Vex to find a way on how to beat paracasaul forces.
Probably not, but could be interesting! And a way of bringing in a future story after TFS
With our goals currently aligning with savathun, maybe its a good idea to have her brood bring back oryx
1:35 does it run in the family? I thought Clovis altered their genetics so their DNA map received traits from Clovis on both sides thus creating said defect...
What if Clovis used her to gain knowledge of the future, and that's why he hides some of her memories 🤔 he did give her the pulse rifle.
Goat
The pouka assists with memory?
It's how Elsie is able to remember across lifetimes. It's also mentioned in lore that Pouka somewhat flow with Strand as it if the two are one in the same.
Yeah, Poukas have a connection to Strand, and they were some of the first concrete evidence to the Vanguard that Darkness truly wasn't inherently evil. Case in point, the Pouka's are incredibly helpful with traumatic memories and relieving stress in people. Or in Elsie's case, bringing back memories from previous timelines without the crippling trauma.
Could be that perhaps Cayde is like a knock off "Nexus" being like Cayde becoming Vanguard is essential and is the whole start of the loop/stuff. Perhaps maybe thats why Cayde must come back or something lol
Are poulkas the ghost counterpart?
It is speculated I believe but they can't do what Ghosts do aka bring back their Cloud Striders. They were created by Neomunis to help with memory and stress etc.
You know i wonder why Elsie isnt in the final shape trailer...
WOAH 1 MINUTE
yeah boi
What if, when we finally beat the Witness, Elsie starts fading. Like her job is finally done and she can finally rest in peace.
Even more if she somehow sacrifices herself to save us so we don’t have the ending like we did at the end of season of the Dawn.
Imagine this mf just cracked the reason the game is called Destiny.
Like it's ALL for/about Elsie. This is the set of events that are almost premeditated to unfold how they do, by higher powers. Destiny.
