I’m not sure about anyone else but I wanted to hear all the niche things you can say throughout this exercise😂 you spoke like you were boring us but I was ready for 30 more minutes of explanation on this exercise! I love your playing Jasmine
Excellent tips Jasmine, for these exercises. I tell my students to think of these exercises and the Moyse- Long tone exercise the most important ones. Even though some flutists think they're boring, they are the building blocks for a well-rounded player. The obsession with players trying to play them at "light speed", doesn't do anything to improve your overall mastery of the flute. Speed is only ONE aspect of being a great flutist, I couldn't agree more with you regarding your comment about going super fast. It's much harder to aim for even fingers, a flexible embouchure, and beautiful tone with different colors.🎵
I tried this first exercise with you today and it was fabulous. I was so intimidated by it after being away from the instrument for decades but this helped me to cross the hurdle. Thanks

I will hope to see your other vids on this...I believe that these exercises has already helped me especailly with the lower registry tones and also my breathing...I am taking it slow as well. Exercise sounds too much like hard work. Variations is far nicer sounding. Im going to dig out my Taffanel & Gaubert "variations" exercise book thank you for the inspiration 2x 👍
What about adding c o l o u r ? Technique has never been automatic. Even 4 notes have an inner development. If not for beginners than as a representation of an artist player.
