I was at the IPSC International in Florida with the likes of Rob Lathem, Jerry Barnhart, Brian Enos, and many more. The cash sideshoot was the Bill Drill, winner took $2k. Top 3 shooters were within 1.3 seconds and Barnhart won with a sub 1sec time. His nickname was The Burner. Great memories.
I don't think I had ever even heard of a bill drill until I started watching GarandThumb. I had no idea it was done in a competitive setting. Cool and informative video. 👍
It really wasn't. It was mostly always a way to measure your speed against other pros and see where you stand. But it recently is starting to take off like a small side competition.
@nathanjames7030 missed opportunity. Thats OK. I'm working in a new drill. I'm thinking like 10 rounds at 40 yards or so in about 8 seconds. I'm still working out the kinks though
hearing how Brian Enos and Jerry Miceulek (with DA revo!) doing Bill Drill under 1 sec with all shots in the A zone back in the early 1990s really put things in perspective 😂
Jerry did it from the low ready and didn't shoot all alphas. He was shooting a c-zone target. Still very impressive with a DA Revo, but not the same drill.
@@jdouguspsa oh I'm pretty certain it was from the (race) holster with a single or doubled ported comped gun for autos. All 6 shots A-zone hits under 1 sec. according to Enos, from his book Beyond Fundamentals, that's a yes IIRC (pretty certain). Do look it up, I'm too lazy trying to find my copy 😹
Lockwood runs a P320 modified by Bruce Gray at GrayGuns Inc. Barton is shooting what appears to be a Zev Tech OZ9 Competition, which is a derivative of the Glock G34
@@paulh6101 I'm not sure if this is USPSA rules or not, but for 2024 Carry Optics in USPSA doesn't allow add-on magwells. His Sig would have been illegal based on that.
How is it a Bill drill, with the big black target to shoot at? I'm no expert, but it seems like part of the challenge with the Bill drill is having a very large target at a close distance and still have all shots land in the scoring zone. Seems cheesy
@@gjhoward Maybe I could have phrased my question differently. Everyone else does Bill Drills with a standard target. (Scoring zones intended to be visible only when scoring) Why was the A zone for these targets in black?

I live 20 minutes from this place and didn't know they do these comps. I would have loved to see this.
I just found this channel on this video, I like it and will be watching more in the future.
Bill Drills are fun. Had no idea this was even a thing.
We've all been grateful for the "Lucky Miss" a time or two.

It’s also known as the William Drilliam
It's named after Bill Wilson, the founder of IDPA. Always has been a competitive thing. 😎
Been looking forward to the bill drill showdown and the coverage after seeing your interviews with the various pro/comp shooters a few months back
Fun vid guys, thanks!
I'm the one who showed bill this drill. Then he took it and acted like he didn't know me
If you had showed Rob and and Brian, maybe they'd have named it after you instead of Bill.

@@920WASHBURN Genius. You could call it the "fast as the dickens" drill, or something like that.
Thank you.. 🙏 I’ve been waiting for this video a long time. Keep up the great work .
Amazing performances!!!
Well done by both!
Freakin great coverage John!
Outstanding!
Congrats Isaac!
Bob Vogel would take everybody to church on this drill. 💯⚡🔥
Yeah I’d like to see Vogel & Taran Butler run it 💥
Nice!
I spotted Riley T. Bowman in the crowd. 😎

they didnt do it from the holster or do it on A zone steel
@AlphaMindset-zq5qv shoots for gray guns. think its their package
Don't forget Jerry's plate rack run.

Bet old Jerry could sweep it clean!
Man. Billy is fast too. Nice job Isaac
This would be good if it wasn't made like a reality show
Where's the "red dots are slower" crowd at? They're mighty quiet right now.
AWESOME !!! - Thanks fer sharing !!! - Appreciate it !!
LOL the way these people are talking about the weather I thought it was 28°. Finally they showed it was 48, that's t-shirt weather in the Northeast
Foreal, thats not even cold LOL, some ohio boys def in basketball shorts and sandals with maybe a hoodie on at the most
8:36 it's 2 hundredths slower not 2 tenths
Fun to watch.
Billy split sauce is 🔥🔥🔥
That a boy Isaac!!!
Dang I was hoping spec train pulled out a win
lmao this is awesome!!
Practicing..
Am I supposed to be able to compete here.
Every time I try shooting fast I get yelled by the range officers…so where can I practice these skills?
Local club usually. Just look up uspsa.
wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh its cold wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Any one knows size of hit box and how far the target is. Thanks
target is at seven yards, the scoring area is the lower A zone on a standard USPSA target 5.9 x 11 inches
@@ShootingUSA thank you
why did they drop the 2 head shots
Because technically the bill drill requires all shots in the lower a zone.
🇧🇷
I wonder what J.M. Would do here?
Was that a glock vs 2011/1911 DS?
Isaac was running a Sig P320. Billy looks like he’s running a Glock 34, but not sure about him.
Gotcha, after a second watch its pretty easy to see its not a 2011, and a sig.

@@vettepilot427 Billy had a zev oz9 with a g34 long slide
The fact that they are shooting these with striker fired pistols is even more insane.
Why? It's easier than DA/SA in that regard.
Would be easier with 2011's

Try it.
that 'big black target' is only 5.91" x 11.02". A good bill drill time at 7 yards is 2.5 seconds. Good luck!
