A safe way to check for gas or air leaks is to get a jug or large bowl half fill it with warm water chuck in a load of washing up liquid and frantically whisk until you have a large head of bubbles like the head of a pint of beer ! Then you scoop up a handful of bubbles place it where you suspect a leak may be and if there is a leek it will be visually evident !

I have one of those hose things and mine is blatantly faulty. The flame on the stove just shoots up and down wildly in use and never seems settle.

This is nothing to do with the adapter, when the butane canister is on its side there is a tube within the canister which needs to be facing upwards to give you a gas feed, if the tube isn't oriented correctly you'll be getting a liquid feed which will cause the stove to flare up. The 'notch' where you connect to the canister shows the position of the tube and you need to have this facing up once you've connected everything. Look at the silver campingmoon adapter he uses in this video, the little legs aren't to stop the canister rolling around, they're to keep the notch facing upwards, you can see what I'm talking about at 7:55.

Hi Becks, had mine for an absolute age and believe they are these ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/gas-canister-stand/ made by Optimus. I sent that remote adapter back as it’s dangerous. Bought the MSR low down. The price brought a tear to my eye but it is a quality piece of kit. Like your vids by the way. All the best 👍

I’ve looked at that stove accessory, but wow very mixed reviews. One of the more common complaints is the gas pressure dropping while using it which doesn’t make sense when it’s just a hose. Looking for a burner started when I considered get a Trangia gas burner for my FireBox 🔥 stoves, but I also have a MSR & that’s why I checked out this one. So many of the cheap ones have issues & now I’m back to just getting the Trangia gas, “ Buy Once - Cry Once “. Yes I’ve watched your video & Mark Youngs on making the cheap burner work with a FireBox. 🇨🇦🔥

It should be a straight forward process. We see a need for a product but then have to spend hours researching to find what will work best for our particular need that is not overly expensive. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your search 👍

Thanks for this video, these already looked dodgy on the Amazon app, now you've shown exactly why! I'd love to see a review on the real LowDown if you decide to spend the money 😄

@ms.gearhead6884 You are exactly right this item is well dodgy. So if this video has dissuaded anyone to not waste their money then I have achieved my aim. Really tempted with the LowDown s it would suit my purpose. Have seen something else that looks good quality but less expensive so mulling that idea over 🤔

I've just bought one of these and I wish I had seen your video first. Like yours the seals on them are rubbish and there is no cut off valve. I wasn't brave enough to try it with actual gas and lighting it. I was hoping I could change the hose out for one that would screw onto a regular hiking gas canister but couldn't find one anywhere so I think all the fittings are made just for this piece of crap.
It's getting boxed up and sent back to Amazon in the morning. These are dangerous and shouldn't be sold.

I totally agree. Sent mine back yesterday. Hopefully our experiences will help others. Another viewer suggested Campingmoon version, looks pretty decent and there are different versions with shut off valve. Only thing with that is legs look a little shorter. I’m still on fence as to where to put my cash next 👍

@@InfoZhedExplore I saw those as well and thought the same about the length of the legs for stability but I also think they could be OK considering how low the pot will be to the ground. I think I read a review saying that it puts the pot at a height just short of how it would be on a small gas can.
That would be fine for me because I want the cannister away from the stove. They also do one where you can run your gas light and your stove at the same time.
