Just reflecting how far you came on RUclips. First video i watched and been subbed every since. Wow 7 years
Man your 991 and the color is absolutely amazing, great taste and wonderful garage, Love your posts. Keep it up, your awesome.
That paint looks AMAZING at 3:52
Wow this channel is awesome! I was watching Shmee150's 991 GT3 video when this video came up as a suggestion, so I thought I'd quickly check it out... I watched like 8 videos so far. I like the calm manner you talk in Matt... and I thought I was obsessed with exactness and details, your level of obsession is legendary! I can really relate.
+ToeCutter Thanks for watching my crazy crap!
Good taste in cars.
Holy...you weren't kidding about the smoky startup LOL
actually i think the valves changing as you are driving sounds kinda cool!
I fucking love these types of videos 🙂
me 2
The paint looks absolutely stunning!!
2 of my favorite cars!
Good to see your GT3, again. I wonder if "the wife rolls her eyes" is universal. I get that, all the time.
The most beautiful car and color combination ever. I can only dream of ever owning one. I get excited just seeing this car.
Enjoy it
Thanks man! I've been dreaming of the M3/911 combo since I was probably around 15. I have to pinch myself every morning when I walk out into the garage and decide which key to grab.
Sounds absolutely amazing, wish I could get that sound out of my TT. Those silly little turbos keep gettin in my way.
nice scenery at 3:52 like an awesome desktop background maybe w/o the mailbox
i think we have the same taste Matt Moreman !! i would buy exactly the same cars in the same color, if i'd had the money or someone would give me the money :P
I would really love to have those two!
living the dream! lol can u do a video on your garage and more on the shark werks exhaust please love your rides and ur detailing is spot on lol
Cool videos dude!.. Good taste in metal & nice garage!..
Gorgeous paint Matt!!!
You obviously have great taste in car! Love your vids!
***** Thanks!
you're front courtyard is amazing, because of my bad English , I can even show my admiration...
***** Ha, ha... My wife would kill me.
Oh man, we need more videos of your cars rolling... Don't get me wrong they look great sitting in your driveway but when they're rolling it's seriously a beautiful sight!
***** I'll see what I can do.
Also, I used to think I was a picky detailer with my car (now a 2014 civic si), but you have made me out to be a lazy one. As weird as it sounds, thank you for encouraging me to step up my car-care game, I am now even more particular than I've ever been, you are an inspiration.
So you have three cars? M3, GT3, and CS2? Oh wow......its great to see a Financial advisor who's also a car nut. My accountant rolled his eyes when I ordered a new car, but you only live once
I only have the two cars now. I traded the C2S for the GT3. My wife drives a Ford Explorer Sport. Being an advisor and car guy takes a little different kind of thinking. I make sacrifices in other areas to stay on plan.
Nice collection of cars! My compliments - u have a great taste !!! :)
What a beautiful car!
gotta love the smoke of a new exhaust haha
A nice colour on an interesting car with a great sound.
sounds beautifuuuuul
Car sounds great man
I'm going to get a GT3 soon to compliment my M5 like you did with your m3 there ;) but have you heard anything good about that IPE exhaust? It sounds incredible from what I've heard in a few videos. I think it also has electrically controlled valves to mitigate this nuisance you're experiencing.
Hi, enjoyed the video. Sounds amazing with sharkwerks bypass. What's the deal with opening/closing the valves under normal driving? Can't it be just set open or closed permanently? Thanks
+atom The only way to fix it is to disconnect them completely.
Nice car! I love GT4 and 911R.
I wanted to ask also, how is drifting the 991 ? the e92 is one of my favorite cars to get sideways in super predictable and controlled i'm sure the F80 is the same is the Gt3 nice to drift or get sideways in? i know thats not what its made to do but thats my favorite thing to do.
Middleastbeast I'm not a particularly gifted driver. With all that weight out back it's not the easiest thing to get sideways. Plus those Pilot Sport Cups are like $600 each. Ha, ha... The M3 on the other-hand is a piece of cake.
aaaa..now I know what installed fan is what for ;)
Another awesome video Matt. Just got my GT3 lasrt month and thinking about an upgrade. Do you recommend sharkwerks?
Ed Licup I would hold off a bit. I'm working with FVD Brombacher on a complete cat-back section. I should have it in about 3 weeks.
Matt Moreman Thanks much Matt !
wow awesome garage
Wet look paint! ; ) is that a new exhaust your put in? Sounds good. I could see there is quite a bit of smoke coming out. When I got my RS, morning start up with a bit of blue smoke. It smells like RC engine exhaust. Kind of like it. But after my first oil change from the Porsche mechanic, not much blue smoke anymore. Just a little white smoke now. I enjoyed watching your video. If you like, send me your email address: I like to share with you my morning start up..
I know how much you care for your her. Did you wrap your car with film? I had mine wrapped, also windshield film.
Nice car. I would rather have a GT3 but I'm a manual transmission man all the way.
So I'm on the list for a new GT4 and can't decide between Rhodium Silver or Sapphire blue.
I want a color that is easy to keep clean. I know black is the worst and silver is the best for not showing the dirt or dust, how easy/hard is it to keep sapphire blue clean?
From your video it looks on the lighter side which is easier to keep clean than dark blue.
Doug Maverick Sapphire Blue is a regular blue. It hides dirt really well. Have you driven a 991 GT3? If you haven't, you need to do so. I'm a hard core MT guy as well.
Sounds great
I just found your account by searching through some forums but I wasn't able to find a review of the exhaust. My dad just got the GT3 as well and its a bit too quiet as you know. So could you give a little mini review of this sharkwerks bypass. Specifically how quiet is it when the valves are closed and the sport exhaust button is not pressed. and of course how much louder is it with the valves open at full throttle. Sorry if you've already answered this. I know he'll be more inclined to get it if it is daily driveable.
No problem Nick. I'm sure you've read on the Sharkwerks site that the bypass replaces the third center muffler with straight pipes. Since the factory side mufflers are retained the PSE button still functions just like normal. The exhaust is about 25% louder in all modes. All it does is amplify the OEM Exhaust note. So 25% louder in PSE OFF/Valves Closed Mode and 25% louder in WOT/PSE ON/Valves Open. I have done another video and write-up about forcing the valves open with the bypass on my channel.
Thanks for the quick reply. Just to clarify to the valves open at all when the PSE button is not pressed? If they do, it doesnt seem like there is a point for the button then. All the PSE button does is allow them to open when the revs past 3500 right? I don't seem to remember the valves opening when he drives it casually. This is getting kind of long, but overall would you recommend the exhaust? not too loud with the valves closed?
Nick Ginsberg
This is the current problem. The only full rear section is from iPE. Hopefully someone makes one at some point.
Nice sound!
good day from toronto ontario, we share a couple of similarities ..: fellow white raptor owner with mods and a love / passion for automotive cleanliness :) and the name matt ..
question .. what is the reason for the white smoke (oil?) and then switch over to darker smoke when the revs come up on the GT3.. did porsche give you their " ve are verry precise" german answer or they just said it is going to do this on startup deal with it herr moreman ..
love the new digs as well .. property is nice and cant wait to see the additional car building ( the word garage seems so basic when it looks this good ) .
dedicated wash bay = win win win .
nice work sir ,
matt
It's common for oil the occasionally get trapped in the exhaust valve. Every-so-often there is a plume of smoke that comes out. It's a flat six thing.
ahhhh gotcha .. love that growl .. sounds almost "unhinged".. your neighbours must love you in the mornings .. i have a MBRP pipe on my raptor and it sounds downright awesome .. neighbours just adore that noise at 6am
man do i miss the US, no front plates, and some of the beautiful scenery ever .. is this a muffler bypass ?? or complete system
waleede12 Just a center muffler bypass.
This is the life!
Are you going to do a go-pro video of your GT3 with this set up?
I bought a go pro and took it back. I will be doing another video soon with high rpm runs.
nice cars and garage🖒
So Matt ... would you recommend stock or no SW versus the opening and closing? What is downside of value disconnect? Thanks
I would definitely rather have SW bypass vs stock. Disconnected SW does pretty well with minimal to no drone.
Obsessed Garage will probably go SW disconnected as really want sound as close to stock as possible with a little more volume?
So which exhaust ended up being the keeper?
Sound kinda reminds me of a '76-77 Porsche 935 race car.
i know. its annoying how the exhaust opens and closes , especially when upshifting, goes from open to closed and then open again, when you get to around 3500.
what do you mean the sharkwerks doesnt change valves? you mean it still does the annoying open/closing?
The sharkwerks is simply a center bypass, so it doesn't change the way the exhaust operates. It just makes it louder. So yeah, you still get the annoying opening and closing.
Matt Moreman
wait wait wait you telling me the valves open and close even if you open them with that button?
egruter89
Yep...unfortunately. When you are driving aggressively it doesn't matter. But around town it's annoying.
Matt Moreman
what is the point of that? isnt that the purpose of the button?
hi , nice car!!! love it !! i like the place you live too, where is it ?? :))
hi matt i was trying pm u about the gt3 but for some reason i can't find it. any how if u don't mind me asking about how much would a base model gt3 would cost me? it's just that i don't wanna go to the dealer and ask because i knkw they won't entertain me and i'm not quite ready yet.
+Paul DE GUZMAN I'm pretty sure you can't buy one any longer. Allocations for '16 were really hard to come by. A base is $130,000ish. You'll have to shop the used marked where they are selling around -$5,000 to + $10,000 used. Most are going to be in the 140s and 150s. My email is matt.moreman@gmail.com
georgeous colour :O
Hell yeah Matt Sunshine State btw new subscriber lol
you live in such a nice place wauw dream place.
Are those stock wheels & tires, and if so what size, if not what is the manuf. of the rims?
These are stock.
Beautiful car
What kind of camera did you use?
I need to get an actual video camera. I'm using a DSLR Canon 5d MKIII and a Rode Stereo Video Mic. The quality of a DSLR is amazing, but you really need to be a pro in order to get decent a video. Since I mostly do car stuff alone, a regular pro-sumer video camera will be better for me. Plus the audio quality with the DSLR is pretty noisy.
Why do the gt3’s smoke on cold start?
also any chance you throw some wheels on the gt3 like some HRE 101s
Maybe someday. I actually really like the factory wheels. There is decent concave in the rear, and I'm pretty sure they are forged. The HREs are probably heavier than OEM.
Matt Moreman
maybe the OEM are the same weight but i just think that your a guy who really prides themself on how his car looks and im the same way 100% just think the HRE wheels set the car off from all other cookie cutter gt3s... awsome videos btw!
which models of Porsche are using center wheel lock?
Cristi M GT3 comes standard. Turbo and GTS have optional CL.
Ozone layer destroyed.
Interesting. I didn't know they smoked so badly on startup.
SirHC888 It's weird. They only do it on occasion.
Matt Moreman All GT3s do it! Completely normal :)
Matt Moreman Congrats on the GT3. Love the taste in cars you have. I would definitely have a GT3, either 991 or 997.2 over maaany super cars. That flat-6 is just amazing.
EuroEmpire Yeah, flat-6 is legit.
+SirHC888 Its not blue so no worry I suppose.
Did you get the front axle lift system?
Yeah, I wasn't going to get it but am glad I got it. I use it all of the time.
It's a good thing you did. The approach angle is scary! Beautiful car, man. Thanks for the videos.
How long does it usually take the gt3 to warm up from a cold start?
I was surprised the GT3 warms up much quicker than my C2S or M3. I would guess it takes about 5 or 6 minutes to get the oil up to high 190s.
oh wow that is quick...my e39 m5 is more around the 10 minutes warm up to full temp or if i really need to it will move in 5 minutes
All these are with the bypass installed correct?
Yes. I didn't make a before video.
Matt Moreman Nice video.
Does the bypass increase volume throughout the rev range? I know you said that the bypass doesn't solve flap opening and closing. But does it actually increase volume when the flap is closed? I can't really tell from the video.
Forester Wong
Yes, it makes the car louder at all RPMs, open or closed. The sound is perfect above 4,000 RPMs.
You should try Go-pro,
So jealous.... I love your cars man. I creep on bimmerpost on your GT3
Thanks man! I better love them because I signed a 5 year deal with the wife. "No new cars for 5 years!"
Matt Moreman LOL, same like me!!! my GT3 will be arrive next month
there is nothing wrong with what you do Justin Shih its called passion
Which m3 do you prefer f80 or e92??
Justin Williams E92.
Really?? Mind if I ask why? I'm debating between e92 or f80. My wife prefers e92 for money reasons but I love the TT idea. I love your vids and I respect your car opinion lol
Justin Williams I think the latest car and driver explains it pretty well. Everything about the F80 is better, but it just lacks a soul. www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2015-bmw-m3-dct-automatic-test-review
Dang, what's with the smoke show? got 300K on it?
That's what GT3's do. It usually only does it after sitting for a week or so. It has something to do with some trapped oil of something like that. It's normal.
What is the model of the bmw
F80 M3
Sharwerks or IPE? Im in between
Neither, Dundon Motorsports.
But from customer's reviews i've read that ipe sounds the best in real life...I am planning the exhaust for my 991.2 GT3...
Stock exhaust?!!
Sharkwerks Bypass is installed.
It smoked a lot, for a cold start
Steven Modz Yeah, that's what GT3s have a tendency to do occasionally.
That block paving on ur drive is really bad, rolls horrible
That idle is awful. It sounds terrible until the revs climb. But it's a Porsche, so it's okay haha.
You should hear it inside the car. It stumbles and bumbles around town but is smooth as butter at 6,000-9,000 RPMs.
Yeah. It sounds good when you get on those Porsches. I don't know why they sound so bad at low rpm's. Maybe exhaust gas velocity?
mother of smok !!! what is that ?!!
lucho Ha, ha... GT3s have a tendency to trap oil in the exhaust valves causing it to smoke at start up occasionally.
Did you mean "Opening and closing valves" instead of "opening and closing values" ?
If not, what did that mean ?
Shoaib Ali Yes valves opening and closing is super annoying.
