How could I have lived 58 years on this planet without ever hearing this, or without ever hearing Köbler play? Absolutely masterful performance. Thanks for posting!
Your recordings set the standard for sound and quality, thank you.
I heard this fresh and joyful peace from Simon Preston, the diction of Robert Köbler is quite different, but very impressive and crystal clear.......thanks!
Lionel Rogg recorded the complete organ works of Bach some years ago but the technology wasn't there and it was on vinyl. This is more intimate and up to date. It's brilliant and as previous contributors have said well worth it and waiting for it. Five stars Mr Kobler. The Silbemann was a very good choice. The silver sounds are well demonstrated here. :-)
Echoing the comments of the previous commenter. I cant believe I have never heard this absolutely stunning piece of music
a pachelbelsque fugue~
If this is the Kobler recording it must be more than 40 years old: very clear so I guess this is a re-mastered CD recording rathe than from the vinyl.
Very slow and plodding compared to Preston's joyful, bouncing jig like performance. Hans Fagius' performance comes nearest to matching him.
For me Reger's music is much more boring. Anyway, it is not easy to play this piece especially the fugue, even if you perform it in a medium tempo.
Boring. Is this a practice piece never meant for public performance?
The fugue has some interest, but goes on forever.
Never liked this prelude. Boring. Sounds like a practice exercise.
Not worth the effort of learning this piece.
Now I need some heavy Reger to balance this.
