I'm quite sure the drill is part of a 'gritty' part of the song and is meant to sound unnerving rather than enjoyable at that moment. Surely it's more that people like the dark atmosphere of that part of the song as part of an experience? Like watching a horror film for a thrill etc.

Finneas is such a cool guy. The crossing/crosswalk noise is for people who are sight-impaired so they can tell when the lights have turned green.
and in reality, mostly in modern society, it's used by regular people who can't be bothered putting down their phones. They can just wander along, be stopped by the beeping noise on the red light & when it switches to green, they just start moving, without even thinking or looking up

We have the exact same thing in the USA for the blind, it just isn't rhythmic. It sounds like a traffic engineer designed the sound. The Australian one sounds like much more pleasant.
I'm from Western Australia and I'm pretty sure ours don't sound like this.. possibly if they're sped up haha

I think about what he said about what can I bring that will set me apart a lot. That's such an inspirational attitude. And I love thinking about them going on with their lives and picking up cool sounds and rhythms that they incorporate so masterfully in their songs.
