What's even more impressive than his catches, is his ability to quickly get rid of the ball and throw a strike to the infield. His accuracy is incredible.

I'm a die hard Giants fan and a Yaz fan too. Mike's defensive play in the outfield is outstanding. His struggles are at the plate. He's a streaky hitter. When he's hot he's great to watch. He hits beautiful homeruns too. Lots of power but when he's cold he's very cold. Striking out alot. I say stick with him. He's all n all a very good player.

Definitely, when he's not stuck in his head and imperfections, he's unstoppable! One of the best for sure!! I hope he stays a long time ❤

So is Brandon Belt. He goes on cold streaks for like entire seasons. Every player is hot and cold. Yaz is a complete player. Even if he isn't hitting well he will at some point contribute to the team winning.

Agreed 100%. Yaz is baseball all the way. Glad they came to an agreement for at least one more year!

How he remained in the minor leagues for so long is just criminal.

No it wasnt. He was not a 300 hitter in AAA until 2019. His 221 average this year is bad.
Alex Dickerson batted 233 last year and the Giants lost faith in his offense and now he is batting 121 this year for the braves.
You want your AAA hitters to have a 290 average or better to call them up to MLB and your MLB hitters to be at 250 minimum.

@@willmoe2190 You clearly do not understand baseball bro. Unless you can bat over .250 you have to be great at defense or speed or both.
If a MLB player cant bat .250 you can find a guy in AAA who can.
Some players their batting average goes up and down for multiple reasons though. That is why it is better to give a player 2 full years under .250 to be sure they are done.

@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants ba is a horrible Stat there are much better Stats like ops or obp

    • @DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants
      @DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants Год назад +1

@@willmoe2190 That is an outright lie. Look at the stats of Yaz and all 3 of them move with his BA from his highest and lowest points.
If there is an exception to the rule player Yaz is not that guy. If a players BA is not .250 they hurt the team in general unless they elite at defense or speed running the bases or both.
Wade is having his all time career best season and just looking at his BA alone puts the other 2 you named at his career high for them also.
The Giants 12 best players at OPB this season all batted over .250.
The Giants 12 best players at OPS this season only Conforto is under .250
Out of the top 50 best players at OBP only 3 bat under .250 which is very impressive for those 3.
Out of the top 50 best players at OPS only 5 are under .250 and 2 of them are .245 or higher.
There is rare players where your point has meaning but the vast majority of time it is far easier to go for a .250 or better hitter.
