“Non-cursive writing” is called printing. I thought everyone knew that. When a document asks for your name and says PLEASE PRINT, what do you think that means?
I can still write in cursive but not the best. My Dad can write beautifully in print and cursive; his hand writing looks like the writing you see in cards for sale in stores, but better.
I’m watching cursive and calligraphy videos on u tube and it’s so relaxing. Intend to buy a fountain pen soon. I’ve been using sealing wax on my birthday and Christmas cards and everyone gets so excited when they receive one. Small things mean a lot
To be brutally honest, I simply tell young people that cursive and good handwriting is important because it's not good to be a grown adult who writes like a toddler.
58 YEARS OLD - Know Cursive, Calligraphy & Shorthand. It's a shame all of these are going to be lost arts. I have taught interested nieces & nephews how...
if i have a child, i will be teaching him/her how to write in cursive. i’ve been writing in cursive since 2nd grade and has never stopped. it’s just faster and neater for me. to me, it’s art.
0:35 Well those people would be completely right. I use regular writing MAYBE 2-3 times a month & that is just a quick few words for a post it note. Instruction time is limited so important skills need to be focused on. If a student wants to learn cursive, they have the internet. They can learn it on their own time
Cursive was something important back in the day when people wrote letters and it told the receiver a lot about their education, class and status. Nowadays speed, efficiency and content are the indicators. I was born in 1960 so cursive was a school requirement. Over the years my handwriting has morphed into my own combination of the two. Again, speed and efficiency. Since the only time I handwrite is lists, or notes to self, I don't care about the prettiness of it. Everything else is electronic, like this post. Dexterity of thumbs seems to be far more important now. Even touch typing on a laptop will make way to cell "phone" (read minicomputer) communication and voice recording replacing all. Not only cursive will fall by the wayside, but writing in general. Welcome to the future. Exciting isn't it, waiting to see what else innovation may bring!
It's a real shame kids today aren't learning cursive. It's a necessary skill when transcribing telegraph messages. Not sure they'll be able to get a job as a telegraph operator without learning cursive...
Point people miss. These young people won't be able to read very old documents since most were handwritten. They won't be able to read our Founding documents. Well, the video did mention it.
I took French in middle school and I wrote everything down that was going to be on the dictation the next day and it was easier than just reading the lesson.
It isnt that we dont think we need cursive later in life we just dont see the point. Its not taught in a fun way and it makes kids hate it and not remember it as easily
Really sad … I was child in my 1970s they took the time to teach us but teachers don’t have the time with our new generation of kids , of course it’s the school board and let’s not talk about teaching them the times tables … which is the foundation of math … it’s crazy .. teachers wants you rush your work too… no time to let it sink in to really understand it … I respect teachers but it’s gotten where it’s about the scores and testing numbers for students… good luck teachers it’s not an easy job …
Classes begin January 1, 2025. Form deep connections between hand, heart and brain, improve efficiency, increase spatial reasoning and intelligence, communicate more effectively, gain self-confidence by taking my classes.
Blame the school system It's not completely their fault they don't teach it in schools. They don't teach a lot of things in schools America is not at the top for education It's people who think Africa is a country, not a continent
The argument that Cursive helps your brain is very misleading. What helps your brain is writing thing with your hand. Which means writing in print is just as helpful to the brain as cursive is
1:10 - When the grand national cursive champion uses phrases like "more faster" I lose a slight amount of faith in our education systems. But it was a writing competition, not grammar, and she's a kid. I guess my standards are a bit high. Whatever..
I had the worse cursive in school. My daughter wasn’t taught it and she actually thinks it’s great. Her eyes never seen enough cursives to be judgmental/critical.
They're like in with the new and out with the old. One day, no one will be able to interpret it. Just like ancient languages... They don't want your descendants to know what happened... to even us.
What is the reason to learn cursive when some children in the video were holding their pencils as hard as they can and were bending over their desks that the distance between their eyes and the paper was like 3 inches. This is just unhealthy.
En efecto: no es saludable coger la pluma con demasiada fuerza (ni necesario), ni tampoco estar demasiado cerca del papel, pero enseñar eso es función del maestr@.👍🇪🇸
I'll give all ya a hint.. even if you don't "know script" it's not that hard to read it if you know how to print,... it's just got extra connectors... lol.. OMG no one can read the original document.. you people are mental.
Don't bother trying to read the original Declaration of Independence or US Constitution which were both handwritte n in 18th century cursive. Don't bother looking up original docs about your ancestry either. Many of those were handwritten as well.
@@yvonneplant9434 I know how to write in cursive. Im saying teach someone of the financial system, that applies in the real world. Useful knowledge, instead of luxury learning that should be reserved for folks to choose to pursue such.

cursive writing that shapes the brain ... i love writing in cursive.
Bring back cursive hand writing
Sweet girl. Looks like a future teacher. And thanks to the presenters. Rather good idea to write in cursive at once!
wow she went right into it (1:20) :
"I think it's pretty good, but I think I've noticed..."
That was hilarious. Kids are so honest, lol

I’m 25 and I find cursive much more efficient than writing in print. It’s just faster
Perfect for taking notes!
I’m 17 almost 18 and I have never wrote in that stuff since I was kid and can’t understand it.
I only use cursive to sign or write in formal papers and documents, I write in print more just because it's faster for me
@@ThatOneManWhoLaughsInBritishhaha I’m the opposite. My cursive is super fast and legible… whereas my print just is horrendous 😂
@@tonyc.1121 I've written in print most of my life so it's better than my cursive although my cursive isn't that bad

I still use cursive every day.
Me too! I write everything in longhand. A lot of the young guys who work for me can't read it.

If you're feeling depressed about it just think buggy whips. (If you don't know the reference, watch Ruthless People with Danny DeVito)
My mother taught me to write in cursive before I started kindergarten. Honest truth, now I have a difficult time printing.
Same!!!!! When I print something I have to really think. Not with cursive. It's automatic.
Lost Art. Like too many. Like:
BEING CIVILIZED!!!🗽
Wow amazing and people are so lucky that know cursive 😭. I wish I can learn that when I was elementary
You can still learn it. It's never too late 😉💖
It's the most useless skill you could ever spend time learning. Haven't used it in 20 years, other than writing my signature
I use cursive everyday! It’s easy to learn also, takes practice to get a good style going. RUclips has teaching videos if your interested.
I want my kid focused on math and science, reading and math. Not fancy handwriting. She can learn that in her private time if she chooses.
Nunca es tarde para aprender 😊👍🇪🇸
I only write in cursive ♥️ I’ve always loved it ever since grade school
That's all I write in ever since I was a teen. My print writing sucks, my cursive looks great.

Cursive? They taught us Gregg shorthand in the 4th grade.

Maybe schools ought to reinitiate teaching this in classrooms.
who wrote in cursive after watching this video lol
I wrote before the video and shall continue to do so after.
After being belittled by teachers in school for having difficulty with cursive, I am so happy to see it die.
