Just picked up one in toxic green. I own over 100 knives but this is my first one over $300 and I absolutely love this thing. Couldn't be more happy with my purchase
Check out the JWK Downtime, I think that is the one you were waiting for. Can't find it anywhere though, I found out about this brand a bit too late. Waiting for the next similar model that I can hopefully pick up before it sells out.
I grabbed an arctic storm. Great vid! 👍🏼 I agree it’s expensive, but can’t really complain. I love a knife that’s fidget friendly, cuts effectively, has great materials and looks good doing it. All boxes checked. And I see manufacturers like Benchmade charging inflated prices and getting away with it. And that doesn’t stop me from buying Benchmade either. Thanks for giving it the Neeves treatment ✅
Nice vid, up here in Canada, grew up on slip joints, collecting for over 50 years, love all types of locking mechanisms though, your vids always interesting to me, Thanks Brother Jerod!
Yeah I hope they fix some things in the next version that you mentioned. Blade shape, access to lockbar, and clip for thicker Jean's. Then I'd be happy. I also dont think Reate s90v has been tested in a 1inch section with cardboard cut testing. I'd like to see how it stacks up to Spyderco 61rc at the very least.
Man, I love the color. I'll wait to see if they fix the lock bar access and offer another blade shape. I like clip points but not with that much flip-up at the tip. I have enough knives that if there is something minor I don't like I'll grab another knife for the day, and it will never get used.
Ooooooo. That audio is killer. I got the pink one. It was me only option. That or nothing. Ben was stellar last night….he said if I could not find one…He would sell me one of his. Ya can’t find a better Maker than that. I knew it as gonna sell fast. I came down from Roofing at 2PM Central and it was pink…period. 10 min later it was nothing. Great clip.
That's a bold statement J. Ever since you showed us the Reate EXO Gravity knife. I've decided that's the greatest knife ever. I really love that knife. Thanks for all you do.
Nice take on a modern traditional but the price kills it for me personally, but I'm sure that it'll be a great seller as it hits both the traditional and modern knife collectors out there. I agree with you on the slipjoint side of things, i don't mind one as a backup, gent knife, or a bit of carving, but as a serious tool I'll take a locking knife every time over a slippy. Also never have i picked up a locking knife and wished it was a slipjoint, can't say the same in reverse though. Seen many a guy that was tired or not paying close attention when using a slipjoint and payed the price for it guess that's why they invented locking knives for the safety factor. Overall a good knife and can see why many like it, just not for me at that price point. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
Dang !!! Ben is moving outside of his comfort zone with a bolster lock knife. And thank God. While I love the idea of traditional slip joint knives…….They Just Aren’t My Bag. Glad to see him appealing to a broader audience. Makes sense. Great review brother
With the issue of the pocket clip being somewhat problematic, I'd prefer to take the clip off and use a sheath. Then it would be 100% concealable instead of say 95% and have the clip's tip sticking out a little
I like it. Its not my usual style since I am not a Slippy kind of guy but it is a great innovative design that appeals to people who are not slipjoint lovers. Modern style and some steel and handle materials. Only thing that makes someone double take is the price. Is it a $350 knife? Because lots of stiff competition is in that price range. If the gunslinger does become a hit abd starts selling out i hope the QC isn't compromised to meey demand. Hopefully they follow TRM in that regard. People are willing to wait if they know its being made with precision and care.
Hey neeves knives. I am thinking about buying a manix 2 but don't know if I should go for the regular or the xl. Which one would you recommend. Which one feels better in the hand, is the bigger blade a lot better, which one has the better fidget factor, and so on and so forth. I will be putting this knife through construction and edc. There's not a lot of videos explaining them that well so I came to you. Thanks 🙂
Smart move. Now none slipjoint people are more pulled towards buying a slip joint style knife like myself. Because of this model that i really really like i just ordered one today. It has something of both worlds i think. Maybe after this one im more in to slipjoints who knows.. which brand makes these knives in China? I hope Reate..
So, Quiet Carry, Tactile Knives, TRM, all made in USA, all have knives arround the same price point as a Jack Wolf which is made overseas. So I won’t be buying a J Wolf. Just my thoughts. Everyone likes different things. Great overview Neeves Knives. Thx
I don’t like supporting China no more than the next person but I guarantee you are wearing, watching, drinking out of etc. something made in China. Just my thoughts too
I got to handle one of these down at blade show. It's one of those knives you gotta get in hand to really appreciate. The materials are good with s90v steel and fat carbon handle scales but yeah, that price point puts it up against some stiff competition. But where this one appeals to people is that it's a slip joint knife for people who don't typically buy slip joint knives. It's got the slip joint design language but with modern style. Not everyone will think it's worth the asking price but I do think it will sell well to today's knife community.
It really depends. Iirc the maker spends more Money to get additional qc from what I remember hearing in the past. Reate usually uses Bohler in China to heat treat their m390, I dont know if they do the same with s90v or not. I'll have to see if they will share their target hardness and protocol like they did with m390. If they do it above normal and if it can match Spyderco in performance, I'd say those two items alone are worth the costs if they are right. Then usually you get JW extras. I'd say if this was from any other manufacturer over sea's, it wouldnt be worth it.
@@Fly2kill1 benchmade burn their edges and have poor quality control. Also two slabs of cf and metal axis lock are cheap overall bill of materials wise. Performance of their s90v can be slightly worse than Spyderco if they are not burnt and about the same hardness. Though they probably will vary on hardness from both brands.
Figitability at 100% with less than perfect lockbar access isn't logical. I don't get the JWK fanboy thing. But that's just me. Actually it's not a particularly good looking piece.
@@NeevesKnivesI think they're referring to the "gunstock" shaped handle and how it gets narrower much further back than most knives. Personally it's growing on me but I can easily see why some wouldn't like it at all.
@Neeves Knives it's the the whole handle shape. I'm not at all a fan of how it looks I'm not sure how to describe. It has that gunstock thing going on but it's really harsh.
@orangerider2827 to each their own, I personally think it looks sick I'm definitely rooting for a wharny, sheepsfoot or Spear point myself regardless this one's one of the best of the year knives
The problem with modern traditionals is that because they are kinda niche they are always absurdly overpriced. Its nice to see that it had a pocket clip though. The fact that traditional knives are made without clips to this day is a crime.
Forget my question.. im happy to found out Reate makes Jack Wolf Knives so im sure its the best quality ever. 👍 Just like my Chaves redencion 229 kickstop
Reate doesn’t make Jack Wolf knives. He hasn’t come out with who makes them so there could be a chance. I think he may have had them make a prototype. I own and have owned a ton or reate made knives and I own a bunch of JWK slips joints and I also have the sharpshooter and you can tell the difference right way especially with the sharpshooter.

THANK YOU FOR WATCHING
Thanks so much for checking it out! Appreciate the feedback as well 🤙
I absolutely could not resist the Gold fatCarbon version. Absolutely beautiful.
Yeah I also really like that one
Same. It was close between the purple haze but that dark matter is just in a different level 🔥
Good video Jerad, this knife is one of my Grail knives, been wanting a Jack Wolf knife for a while now but this one with the lock, man!
Just picked up one in toxic green. I own over 100 knives but this is my first one over $300 and I absolutely love this thing. Couldn't be more happy with my purchase
So glad you like it 🙌
Same! Colour and first expensive knife…. Love it too!
What a great design. I love that the did this version.
Thanks so much Mike!
yes! i want to see the wharncliffe version of this knife!😍
I know hopefully we continue seeing versions like these of his already designed knives

Glad I got my purple haze within a minute of release. All but pink sold out super crazy fast

well i meant as far as the jackwolf knives go, however they did sell out as i said because it is that awesome
@@NeevesKnives it is a very nice knife. I'd luv to add it to my collection! 🖤
If I didn't live in the UK, I would definitely have this, but I have to have a slipjoint, so I got a lovely little bro 😊
I like jack wolf knives and there look but would love if he made a full Ti version 🙌
That would be sweet!!
That would be right up my alley
Whatta ya know

I like both. I edc the reg N edc and personal protect the XL. J has it in several clips N says they are right at the top. Luck.
I will absolutely buy one of them if they come out with a warncliff or sheepsfoot blade but until then I guess I'm out
You read my mind!! Hollow grind in those blade shapes and I’m so in!!
Sick!!

My biggest flaw with it is the non existent reversible clip wpuld looked nice with those anodized titanium fillers
Thought about these so long but the price was just too high for me, $300 maybe but not $350
😍I MUST GET ONE!!!🔪🖤🤣
not a fan of the clip point(not that i can afford one anyways) but they are super sexi. I'd love to see this one with the feel good blade on it...
I agree on clip points but let me say that when they have geometry like this it works super good even on the things you wouldn't expect
