Your reaction is quite possibly one of my favorites because some experiences are too profound for words. I imagine I looked just like you the whole way through, with my mouth half open and my eyes wide open, until the end when I realized I hadn't been breathing for a while, wiped the tears and exhaled "F*******ck". . And like you, that has never happened to me before listening to a song. Especially one played live with just a guy and a guitar. No recording studio magic here, just REAL MAGIC. 🤗

If I go back through my history, I can probably count 30+ reactions I’ve watched of this song. But, yours is the first I’ve commented on. You were transfixed. You barely moved. But, what you couldn’t articulate was visible in your eyes and we all felt it with you. 💛 Ren has created space for people to open up about the darkness they felt was their own private monopoly. Now, we are beginning to see we ARE human and darkness and light are what make us so. It’s beautiful to see others discussing mental health and addiction in inspiring ways and as examples of hope. What an amazing, beautiful world we live in where one of us humans can make such a profound impact. ✨
Wow, thanks so much for the compliment. Yea, this guy is something else entirely. He rapped, played guitar, sang (very well btw) , and he acted out the words all at the same damn time, and did it effortless. I also listened to his bittersweet symphony and same freaking reaction lol. Just stunned with complete awe and amazement. Check out the reaction if you get a chance

Thank you so much. I do not over react and I don't exaggerate. It doesn't feel right to see people jump out of their chairs and scream because something was just said by an artist. When I started this reaction channel, I thought to myself, I wonder what would happen if someone reacted honestly, without the over exaggerated, attention seeking, acting. Well this is it lol. Welcome down the rabbit hole. You must watch the full version of “The tale of Jenny and Screech” Dare I say that Ren is a better storyteller than Bob Dylan?
Beautiful reaction. The way you sat there stunned and mesmerized was exactly the way I was the first time I experienced this work of art. I’ve watched many reactions to this and in every one the host tries to express their feelings at the end and are left lost for words. It is simply magical.
Some of his hip hop tracks that show his versatility, are The Hunger, Genesis, Power, Fisher Retake, Sick Boi... he dropped a retake on a Verve song yesterday to. I love his singing, try his tracks Money game part 1 and 2. And Domino's.
Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. I would watch the official live music videos. "Chalk Outlines" is one of my favorite songs right now. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation. His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the Moon), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) are all great. Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. Ren's covers of "I Shot the Sheriff," "Wade in the Water," "An Englishman in New York," the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” and so many others are equally impressive and really give you a sample of his vocal ability. Ren just released his latest single, “Sick Boi.” In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. It's awesome how anyone who listens and views this brilliant performance with open ears, hearts and minds, will be pulled into Ren's gravitational field and become an instant fan.. Only those with a hole in their soul can't handle him.
Great reaction. "Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 4.1 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live in a single take (although not necessarily the first take). His latest release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." I am 57 y/o, and I only recently learned about Ren and have gone down this rabbit hole ever since. Many of his songs resonate with me because he addresses struggles that I myself face every day. He plays multiple instruments, has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. Check out the trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet." It is haunting and has an unforeseen conclusion; WATCH THEM IN THE STATED ORDER, as this is the flow of the storyline, or just watch “The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full),” which includes “Violet’s Tale at the end. It is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling. It has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. I would watch the official live music videos. That was extraordinary, astonishing, moving and BRILLIANT! I'm with you, it's hard to find the words to express the impact of this. Truly amazing. Thanks for recommending this, Scottish Emma! Must investigate this guy further...
Your reaction was so similar to mine, except I'm an easy cry so I teared up when he stood up, and then got hit by "the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". Full on weeping when he began to sing. After it was done I sat there for maybe three minutes, totally still. Only thing I could say was, "Oh my god. YES." And then I watched it again.
I know, to some people, it may sound like I'm just being lazy by saying that it left me speechless, but I seriously couldn't find any words to describe how much that song hit me in the feels
Welcome to the multitalented modern day bard! Now come join the rest of us in the Ren rabbit hole 😂 If you want to hear his beautiful singing voice, I recommend Chalk Outlines (live) with Chinchilla. If you want to see peek storytelling, you should check out the trilogy The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full). And if you want to see him spit bars like a monster, The Hunger is the track to go to.
This track is one of the most beautiful things I have heard in years, I have heard some of his others and its all great, but this one...is truly special. This track will go down in history I have no doubt
You are certainly right music that touches the soul. I have been watching reaction channels and sometimes words are not even necessary. You are able to see how this song moved you and so many of us.
Whike I was watching it, at first I was going to pause every now and then, for copyright reasons but I kind of felt like it would've ruined the whole song and vibe if I would've paused it a lot so I just listened. Thanks so much for watching
Ohhhhh James!!!!! I knew you’d ‘get’ and love Ren as much as I do! That’s the quietest I’ve seen you during a reaction, 😂 I was exactly the same, the first time I heard this track! There just aren’t words to describe it! Absolute masterpiece! I think the concept has been done quite a few times before by Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, Kendrick, Plan B, Hopsin, NF, the Australian guy that I can’t remember the name of just now - think the track is Jordan? But yeah, it’s not been done like this! I maybe misled you a bit saying ‘hiphop’ - no drums here! Just a guy and his guitar! Lol! I don’t even know what to call most of it - spoken word, some rap, some performance art, definitely some great singing - a ‘play’ is a great way to describe it! His track ‘Sick Boi’ comes straight after this and is more rap-centric, it’s also great, and tells a bit more of his personal story. You NEED to check out ‘The Tales of Jenny, Screech and Violet’ (full version), I’ll drop a link below. Amazing storytelling! You’ll love it! Thanks for doing this! Link for Jenny, Screech, Violet (Full): ruclips.net/video/TYAnqQ--KX0/видео.html
Ty for being the one to get this reacted to. I’ve watched every single creators reaction that’s dropped so far. He’s right, I’ve never felt what this made me feel
@@wereintheendgamenow5137 Aww thank you and I totally agree with how the track makes you feel🙏 and I’m exactly the same - I search for reactions to any Ren track almost every day lol! I’m so pleased that Ren is now getting the recognition he deserves! His sub numbers have literally doubled in the last few weeks and his views are doing crazy numbers too! Such a talented guy and he’s overcame so much!
@@scottishemmaa2457 I have myself have manic depression/bi polar and PTSD from having my mom set herself on fire multiple times from smoking while on oxygen and pain meds even had to cut the oxygen tube once that was sizzling down the hall. Recently lost my last family member that I grew up with my Dad and was near my negative feelings too much. Until I found this man. I can’t convey how much it’s meant to me enough. My girls annoyed by how much I play the songs over and over 😂 but it’s been therapy!!!
@@wereintheendgamenow5137 I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been through all that, it must have been so difficult, and now to be dealing with bipolar and PTSD too, I can’t imagine what it must be like for you.❤️ my dad suffered from bipolar, it’s truly an awful illness. I think music like Ren’s can hit especially hard when you have experienced mental illness, chronic pain, disability etc. Or even if you’re a very empathetic person. Ren describes things so beautifully that you feel the emotion within yourself. I suffer from an anxiety disorder that manifests as me being irrationally and completely over protective with my son. I know it’s as a result of losing my daughter when she was a baby and being terrified the same thing will happen to him, even though he’s a teenager now. Most of the time, I know I’m doing it so try to reign it in, but I still struggle. Meds have helped me a lot too! I laughed at your girls complaining about your choice of music lol! My son does the same thing! We usually have really similar musical taste, but he’s still on on board with Ren! I’ll keep trying though!
@@scottishemmaa2457 I genuinely feel in order to feel what Ren is doing it takes a bit of maturity and understanding of the issues he’s speaking on so I totally understand your son not getting it just yet. And I’m sorry I deal with that it must be difficult to trust. I totally get it though cause after losing all of my family all I have in this world is my girl and our son and I would literally burn the world down for them lol so I totally understand! All I know is Ren is getting me through one of the roughest times in my life and I am eternally grateful to him for that even if he never knows. What matters is I do!!!
Since discovering Ren about four days ago, I've watched roughly 50 to 60 reactions. I've never taken it that far before. Yours was easily one of my favorites, hands down. Too many reactors fail to realize that silence is a reaction; that facial expressions are a reaction. Even just listening is a reaction. I've literally yelled at the screen as people cut him off mid-sentence during the climax of the song! You referred to yourself as being sometimes inarticulate, but your face said everything you needed to say. And if you think about it as a performance, which it was at the very minimum, we all know what happens to people who talk [too much] in the theater: they get thrown out! Lol. Anyway, I've said enough. I really enjoyed your reaction. Cheers!
The genius and beauty of this performance is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to know what to expect! It's a visceral, mind-boggling punch right in the head, heart, and soul 🤯 💔 ending with a powerful, resonating, and enduring message of inspiration and hope ❤️🔥 🙏 ❤️🩹 A gut-wrenchingly brilliant emotional, musical, lyrical, and artistic masterpiece 💙
I love the OOOhs at the beginning - you've just been drawn in with this visceral acoustic guitar playing and then you're blindsided so hard it forces you to pay attention to figure it out while signaling to you that this isn't just "some song" this is something more of an experience and you need to pay attention now! And then the dark side starts rapping... ... and they come back at the end to let you know it's okay to breathe and cheer now!
I could see you were surprised toward the end when he reached up into his belting voice. If you really want to hear this guy properly sing I recommend checking out Ren X Chinchilla Chalk Outlines, and How To Be Me (both live versions are the best). Both really showcase his vocal skills and if you liked that little piece of his higher range in this beautiful piece you're gonna crap yourself when you hear those two.
That was my face the first time around , too. There is more. So much more. Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole, it is going to be deep. If you needed a pointer: the tale of Jenny and Screech (full), the hunger, chalk outlines with chinchilla, blind eyed with Sam Thompkins.... yeah, all of them, in all honesty.
what a fab reaction. I've watched hundreds of reactions as i'm obsessed. This is right up that with the best....Have a sub. Lots of people will recommend Jenny, screech and violet - which is an amazing play (it's like this, total art) - but i'll recommend The Hunger and Chalk Outlines live. Keep doing what you're doing man.
what a stunning reaction!! @renmakesmusic would be humbled by your support i think. it is a work of art, its had an effect on everyone who listens to it. you should check is other music as well, sick boi is either a sequel (or prequel) to this and continues the story with a different style that just show rens talents even more. and his new track he released on his birthday last week gives an insight into his mind
Great reaction. I have been watching Ren busking in Brighton (UK) for seven years and he is never less than captivating. He has many videos showing his versatility but Chalk Outlines (live) is one of my favourites. I hope you will continue on your Ren journey. It's an exciting ride!
Great reaction! I’m sure I had the same expression my first time viewing it. Also, this was a live take! Not sure if anyone mentioned this in the comments yet, but if you look carefully you can see the mic on his neck collar and his guitar is plugged in because he did this live, which makes it even more incredible. I believe it took him 4 tries total and this is the last take, which they used. Cheers!
You ain't got to say anything your reaction was good enough. Me First time listen to. I don't usually listen to stuff like that. coz I don't like it. But that was pure genius. I luv'd it. That was amazing. Thanks. from 🇬🇧👍👍 an old cockney gal
You did pretty well describing it! Ren tends to leave one speechless like that though! If you really liked this then you will like the Tale of Jenny & Screech (be sure to do the FULL version or watch them in order all at one time - Jenny, Screech, Violet). He does have tracks where he just raps - The Hunger, Genesis, Power, What you Want & just sings - Chalk Outlines, How to Be Me. Then there are tracks you just need to see & hear - Money Game 1 & 2, Sick Boi. You can't go wrong with any of them. Looking forward to seeing more! New sub!
I really appreciate it but I'm sure that there's little to no chance that guy is gonna catch my little channel's reaction out of the sea of others there are. That would be cool as hell though. Thanks for watching!
Excellent reaction! One of the best ive watched, which are many. It reminded me of when i first heard this. Genius has always been my go to description. Peace
Really enjoyed your lack of words during the performance as your face spoke a thousand! Great reaction to this beauty! Try Jenny and Screech trilogy, it will blow your mind.
Yes great reaction about the same feeling i got from this video. Perhaps with this difference that it's even more profound if you struggle with internal battles after brain damage yourself. Just like Ren but slightly different.
Take these other great suggestions, but definitely do Chalk Outlines (live) by Ren x Chinchilla as well as Money Game 1&2 and What You Want. Welcome to Ren's world!

Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up), their busking (street performances), concerts, and their live recordings, are awesome and well worth checking out.
"Sick Boi" is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren."
Well said, couldn’t agree more.
9 months later and hi ren has over 21 million views ❤️🥳❤️
@@tanyawilliams2973 I forgot to update my running view-count. Thanks for reminding me.
☺☺☺Loved your reaction, dude! Just search everything he has on RUclips, your mind will be blown away! Buckle up! :) "How to be me" (feat. Chinchilla), "Chalk Outlines" (feat. Chinchilla), "Hold on", "Sick Boi", "It's alright", etc... Just go wild!
This masterpiece needs to be part of every high school curriculum.
Now come join the rest of us in the Ren rabbit hole 😂
If you want to hear his beautiful singing voice, I recommend Chalk Outlines (live) with Chinchilla. If you want to see peek storytelling, you should check out the trilogy The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full). And if you want to see him spit bars like a monster, The Hunger is the track to go to.
Must say mate I agree with you about a Genius, I was spellbound by his poetry and music .1st time I've come across him and I'm British.

So glad you reacted to this one. Powerful, isn't it?! I think you'll like his other stuff too. Great reaction throughout. Your face said it all!
Hello and welcome to the Ren rabbithole. We are happy to see you. Get comfortable and dive right in 😉
Since discovering Ren about four days ago, I've watched roughly 50 to 60 reactions. Cheers!
Thanks so much John, they means a lot.
What you saw and heard was universal truth and there is nothing left to say about it.
I just found Crutch...6 yrs old but my goodness...Ren is brilliant
The genius and beauty of this performance is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to know what to expect! It's a visceral, mind-boggling punch right in the head, heart, and soul 🤯 💔 ending with a powerful, resonating, and enduring message of inspiration and hope ❤️🔥 🙏 ❤️🩹 A gut-wrenchingly brilliant emotional, musical, lyrical, and artistic masterpiece 💙
Welcome to the RENaissance
Beautiful reaction! Thanks!
Loved your reaction. No words until the end, just listening earnestly. We could see it hit you. Awesome :)
Ren is a genius...the rabbit hole is deep...go down there my friend🔥🙏🔥
Ren said in an interview that he is trying to get a Netfilx series. This and his other one-take performances are proof of concept for it.
Welcome to Ren everyone. :)
You were so captivated you hardly blinked the whole time. Love your reaction.
🙏🏽
I'm blown away by that ~ the guy is epic ...
The expressions on your face say it all
Your reaction was my exact reaction for the first time! I’m over here with tears, like I rewatched it with you for the first time 😁🥲🖤
Ren is Amazing, please do more,Tale of Jenny and Screech (full) Thanks x
You may think you are not good with words, but you were good enough. loved your reaction and also that you did not pause at all.
Fantastic reaction love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
Man you said it perfectly. You could use every word in the dictionary and not do justice to that performance.
We got a new believer !
Thank you, I needed a laugh 😂 welcome to the Ren Rabbit hole
Love your reaction…. Yeah, it’s that good! 🖖🏻🌺
Ps loved your reaction,it was the same as mine,I also was and still am in awe of this masterpiece, and of Rens unarguably talent!!
Let me help you out bro.. that song, you just listened to was soul touching…
I felt the same way first time I watched it 🤣🤣
Your eyes and micro expressions show you took lyrics in deep!
This is the first time I've heard this too....mind blown! 🤯
Recently new Ren fan here. He's spectacular.
I appreciate your reaction and overall demeanor and after scoping out your other videos I'm subscribed.
Great job. Your facial expressions and gestures said it all in real time.
what a fab reaction.
Thanks so much. Got the Jenny, screech and violet reaction out now
what a stunning reaction!!
What an amazing compliment! That would be so great to have Ren check the reaction out. Thanks so much
Great reaction.
Cheers!
Yeah, fell down this rabbit hole a couple of weeks ago! Great suggestion for a reaction!
Love Ren, and really enjoyed your reactio. Please do Rens jenny and screech FULL trilogy...😘
great reaction...Ren is one of my favorite artist
New sub!
That’s a genius right there
Great reaction. I hope Ren sees it.
I really appreciate it but I'm sure that there's little to no chance that guy is gonna catch my little channel's reaction out of the sea of others there are. That would be cool as hell though. Thanks for watching!
@@SimplySavageReactions You never know, he checks out a lot of reactions!
good reaction, thank you!
Your speechlessness is perfect.
This might be the greatest performance I’ve ever seen.
I certainly concur
Stunned silence says it all.
Yea well that's all I could do is sit there in awe and silence. Thanks so much for watching!
It's on the channel. Thanks for the compliment!
Yes great reaction about the same feeling i got from this video. Perhaps with this difference that it's even more profound if you struggle with internal battles after brain damage yourself. Just like Ren but slightly different.
Yes! More Ren please!
great reaction; hit me just like it did you
Yes❤
Ren has lyme disease and has been fighting it for years. Check out his story!
Great reaction. As previously noted. Please do Jenny and screech (full) 13 min trilogy. All in one shot. Jenny, then Screech and then violet.
Thanks
Loved your reaction. Could you make a playlist of all Ren/Chinchilla songs that you have reacted to. I'd like to add to add/follow it.
Great vid and great pick by scottish em 👏👏👏👏
Thanks Craig!
@@scottishemmaa2457 👍
Take these other great suggestions, but definitely do Chalk Outlines (live) by Ren x Chinchilla as well as Money Game 1&2 and What You Want. Welcome to Ren's world!
Brilliant reaction, to watch this and then react is an act of bravery in itself.. You did great man.. 👍 New subscriber from the UK ❤ Looking forward to seeing your journey down the Ren rabbit hole unfold. 🤘🙌👍🙏
