- I directed this back in 2011, and thought I would re-upload it as it's hard to find now. It was ultra low budget, and definitely flawed, but its also fun if you're a fan of the games.
Resident Evil: First Hour is a re-imagined prequel to Resident Evil 2, and follows Leon Kennedy as he and two other police officers find themselves trapped on a farm outside Raccoon City, fighting for their lives against an undead horde.
Does anyone else here in 2018 realize that he looks like the now RE2 REmake Leon Kennedy .... Wow

I'd say this is how an RE movie should be. Slow pace, more suspenseful, and a climactic ending. I'd also say that this is better than the latest movie.

Omg! I really love it, I’m a script writer and I’ve always thought that a good resident evil live action should have the OST of the games, but this guys don’t just did it, they did it in an absolutely great way, the right music in the right moment 👏👏👏👏👏 too much talent here.

That was AWESOME, man! Yeah it's no blockbuster, but it's indie so it's completely understandable. It not only sorta looked like the games but it more importantly FELT like 'em! It was intense, yet slow-paced. The characters felt real and the actors did a fine job. The portrayal of the t-Virus zombie was also very faithful and that's the right way to go, man. Slow, dumb with quite some resistance yet easily killed if you know how to deal with them. Nice touch there when the police officer calmed down briefly before starting to get more aggressive again prior to getting shot in the head. As I understood it you're not too fond of this short film yourself and trust me when I say that people usually are rather critical of their own past projects, but I personally enjoyed this more than I had expected to be honest. For being indie it didn't feel too far away from a AAA title in feeling and editing. Acting is always hard to pull off good and in a relaxed way but I honestly think these actors did do a fine job! I have a hunch the next upcoming CG Resi film will be filled with action but honestly would rather have a Resi that's got the feel of this.
Thanks for the kind words, we definitely went for intensity and dread over fast paced action (till the end briefly). Glad it's still being enjoyed by some, we'd have loved to have gone back and done more with a bit more time and money, but alas I don't think that'll ever happen.

A message to the Director & Production Crew: I have seen a lot of low budget fan films of the Resident Evil franchise but i'd be honest with you, your one is way better compared to theirs. Theirs don't even come good as near to yours, their all Cringy lol. But looking at yours from the Camera Angles, Audio Levels, Colour Grading, Costume, Props, Locations & the Acting is professional. It feels like you used professional high end state of the art equipments for the making of the production. I like it when a production is created in Hollywood Theatrical Cinematic style, which I prefer because it makes the viewers feel to invest more time in the Directors work as they appreciate the effort put into it all. I can tell it was well thought about & not rushed. The fact that Machinima picked it up must be for a valid reason. Plus their a huge channel & is trending. There for whattever you did, it worked so keep on at it. I can tell you are a great visionary & unique. You think like Mainstream Hollywood level but with a realistic writing to a project. I hope large studios picks up your work & recognises it 👏

Well we no where remake 2 hit some of its inspiration from. Still one of the best fan films of resident evil

A little more prep could of probably saved this series. The officers don't have any patches so I would of definitely made some and 2 Leon looks like he's 15 so I probably would of fixed that too but other then that it's good
He looks like he's in his early 20s which is what he is supposed to look like.

Nice film, only gripe is that Leon shouldn't even be there. Main protagonist should've ordinary RPD officer. Would have been awesome if protagonist was Marvin, the only black cop in the RPD.

It was set in the 90s but to be honest we filmed this almost ten years ago on a super low budget, so obviously concessions were made.

Considering the low budget, this is good work. I hope you manage to pull another one someday, enriched with all the experience you received in the meantime. No matter how we look at it, it's better than the Hollywood's idea of RE, that in fact has nothing to do with RE, except the names and likenesses of certain monsters/characters. As a big fan of the series, what would I give to receive a proper RE movie, even if just a recreation of a specific title (or more of them), especially the first game. ^^
Making a Resident Evil feature in the spirit of the first two games is a dream project of mine.

Good ideas. Except Leon shouldn't be there, at all. Maybe use a different RPD/STARS character, or a brand new character. The game's soundtrack fits well. I liked the RE references. Survival Horror is the name of the game. Some parts reminded me of The Walking Dead. Do you know why The Predator movie works so well? It is because a SpecOps team goes in, and only 1 person makes it out. The whole time everybody is freaked out (asking what's going on?), because they never encountered anything like that before.
ego2d Exactly! You're not introduced to Leon until long after the outbreak in the city. He came to racoon about 5 days into the incident.

I thought he was traveling there from another town? He got there at a really weird hour for being late. Perhaps he was on night shift, but I feel like if he was moving to Raccoon City, they woulda let him get acquainted with the town before hours like that.
