    Also Bob Mackie is guaranteed for Best Costume. Not only did he design hundreds of costumes for Cher Show, but he’s a character within the story. And his work honors his past and could be seen as seminal.

    Its Stephanie J. Block’s year. She’s well loved, has been around for a while, has two previous nominations, and has somehow yet to win. She is truly one of the greats of her generation. This would be a well deserved triumph for her.

    I feel like Be More Chill won't get many nominations, which I'm kinda glad about.

    We have had a "two-horse" race for Best Musical Revival... most recently in 2011 with "Anything Goes" and "How to Succeed." There was also 2002 with just "Into the Woods" and "Oklahoma!," and that terrible 1994-95 season ("Show Boat" and "How to Succeed" were the two nominees)

      Elizabeth Butler I personally think the category should be a shoe in for Oklahoma for making that tired crusty show relevant to modern audiences.

    question:..is there anything to stop someone who is nominated but currently not in the cast to return so he/she can be seen by the tony voters????????

    For me, the Broadway Musical is dead. There is not art to it any more. Just put a popular movie on stage add some inane tunes and you have a musical.There are no composers any more. Very sad!

      @Sarah Hamilfan
      I should explain, I grew up in the golden age of Broadway Musicals., late 50's and beyond. There's nothing tuneful in any musicals today, there are no Jerry Herman's, Kander & Ebb's Webber's in the wings. Forget another Sondheim. There's no musical talent out there, that I can see. That's why I think the state of modern musical talent is very sad,

      Tony Paradise if the golden age stayed around, the Broadway Musical would become outdated and it would truly be dead. Just because it’s different doesn’t mean it’s dying and there’s no art to it

      I doubt not many people leave the theater humming the tunes from Toosie, Beatle Juice or Pretty Woman. I also doubt these three would be revive 70 years from now like Oklahoma!
