Very nice painting
The paint that was hard to squeeze out of tube, could be a pin prick hole somewhere, or air is getting into the tube; best would be to return to where you bought it, with receipt or whatever. Least you can do is let them know of this problem, maybe they can return to company, on your behalf, who may send you a new tube?!? Hope all turn out for 'you' !!!

I've been looking at work by Bo Bartlett, and his amazing depth of colour. I am finding my work becomes a little colour bland. It shows the Nelson Shanks influence. Have you seen Bo's work?
My soapbox was activated at "Is the grid method cheating?" It feels like everything you need to do as an artist to get the desired look you want is cheating nowadays. Everything! Even using reference is cheating! How else are you even going to learn to draw if you don't copy things from reference or life first? Yes, I said copy. Copy!! The dreaded word, that word that shalt not be uttered! It's like if you didn't come out of the womb with magical photographic memory or "talent", then everything you do to be a better artist is considered cheating. Talent....just doesn't happen. Art is a LEARNED behavior! You get skilled by PRACTICE, you're not just born with it!!! *siiiiiiggghhh* Anyways, rant over, onto watching the rest of the video.

Just to make clear I can not paint people or animals (so I don’t) your picture looks nice but dosnt depict the one you are copying the subject as a paler complexion less eye brows her hair curls around her knack more and her her on the right as less volume
Your painting looks like an older more sophisticated subject the subject looks younger and more plain.
I did love the cat picture.
