I confess I wouldn't be able to pick a Rihanna song out of a lineup, but Chinchilla brings Kate Bush and Bjork to my mind.
This one with the piano hit me with the Tori Amos vibes as well.

She's just gone independent but was signed when this was done. She's toured with Sting in the past but definitely hasn't had the exposure she deserves. The line that always gets me is 'put your keys in your knuckles, like I have to'. Nice reaction.

She is the most exciting prospect , I just love this performance I hope the world gets to see this talent.
I see a lot of different artists in Chinchilla: Lady Gaga, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin... with a splash of a Tim Burton character but that is what makes her, her. She is an artistic talent. Period. She is independent and writes, produces and performs her music too.

I love this song! She just dropped a new one "Little Girl Gone" that is fire. She often dresses in costumes like this when she performs, and I've heard she makes the outfits herself. Always gives me an Alice in Wonderland vibe, like the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts rolled into one. You should see the video where she is 6 different characters (each ones outfit, character and setting matching perfectly) and each character is a suspect in a murder mystery (like the game of Clue). Its worth checking out on your own. Beautiful voice, unique, different and newly independent. I think she was under a label with this song, but her new one is her as an independent artist. I am loving her and her music!

In fact I listened to Chinchilla most of the day yesterday, finally allowed to play music as Ramadan just finished, but ended up on Kate Bush by 2am! I have thought about this quite a bit, especially listening to this song, and although I've never heard Chinchilla say Kate Bush is a singer she likes or respects, one thing did occur to me while listening to Kate last night - she really opened the door for women like Chinchilla, all those years ago. Me then, 14yo, in 1978, instantly in love. Kate was the first. I adore Chinchilla, and she's going to accompany me every day from now on. I've been scared to leave the house for months, and I'm usually brave and intrepid, but I get harassed every day these days, and I'm so tired, and been attacked more lately ( I live in a foreign country, and though I've been here 22 years there have been massive changes) and today I'm dedicating Little Girl Gone to this country, after all these years I thought they got the better of me, but thanks to this song, wow, I've perked up!

It's the accent lol it's been mentioned on multiple other channels. The way the accent comes off singing is very reggae sounding. Sia as well has that quality in her singing.
