Your presentation is awesome Ethan. I am struggling with getting past "tippy" and the practice ideas you present make so much sense. Like others who have commented on your advice, I can't wait to get out on the water tomorrow to practice. So, well done Ethan!!
Just got my first touring kayak and boy was I surprised how different it is from my fishing rig lol thanks for the tutorial! I will definitely be trying these tips soon!
For someone who just bought a equinox tipped over from a motor boat wake this is very helpful. I can't wait to practice those strokes to improve my balance and skills
Excellent video that gave me a lot to think about and try next time I am on the water. I have been struggling to improve my bracing and liked the examples you gave to practice proficiency.
Coming from big box store kayaks we're about to go and pick up our new Skylarks and hope to be able to start practicing some of these maneuvers to get the most out of them. Thanks for posting, well done.
Progress happens when sage advice is followed...
This stuff is indispensable for beginners.

Allow me to quote the great Karl Andersson: "Kayaks aren't tippy. People are tippy" ;-D
An excellent demonstration. Thank you!

Very helpful video, Ethan. I'm an intermediate paddler and always learning. Going to try out those strokes once it warms up a bit.

Guessing you ended up returning them?
@@wonderswedste1789 No, did not return anything. Kept both the big box store kayaks and the Eddyline Skylark 12's.
I just got a pungo 105 first time out was in whitecaps like ya said just loose hips and keep nose over belt buckle
Excellent!!!!!
Very helpful!
Thanks
Great video. Is there any way to put this into practice with a S.O.T kayak?
All the same except your thighs and hips aren’t involved in contacting the kayak. The brace strokes are still equally valuable.
Its funny how people buy sea kayaks or any performance kayaks and expect it to be like a fishing kayak stable just because it cost a lot
Exactly. I look at it as roller skating vs roller blading.
Two completely different experiences for two completely different persons.
its easier to buy a stable kayak,
Know why elk hunting is so difficult?
but a stable kayak tips when the first wave comes, it's no good for sea kayaking
because youre sitting in a tippy kayak , the comparison is like 1 or 2 wheel bikes 2 wheel bikes are more steady ,
= Full time Elk compete with part time hunters!
