@@Plumpus3545 to be fair the only one that was helping the gang at the end was the only one with common sense to see that magic was corrupting them even if it meant all the beings that needed magic to survive have to disappear for good along with magic but at least they had a happy ending and they won't get corrupted by magic anymore.

@@Plumpus3545 yes and no,yes it did cause some creatures to die(the ones that were corrupted like the magical high commission guys) but destroying the magic was the only way to save everyone which if you think about it why else would toffee hate magic it's a possibility with him being as intelligent as he is it might be possible that toffee saw magic for what it really was and maybe tried to help everyone but in a destructive/irrational way. In other words if they didn't destroy the magic mina would have wiped them all out unfortunately because of her magic so by destroying the magic they destroyed minas main source of power. In a way toffee achieved his goal of destroying all magic even if he wasn't around

i love that all he wanted was his finger back. it didnt even seem like he had a plan after that. He just doesn't let people beat him I guess.
I mean tbf it was apparently important enough to let him have a physical form again so who knows, maybe it was a god finger or smth

It’s a symbol of power I think , since he’s supposed to be invincible and he was wounded- which lost him the support of those that followed him
He wanted to destroy magic because it's a weapon that was used against monsters. But because Moon took his finger away, it became a personal fight. His only plan was to destroy magic in order to free monsters, but he thought he could do that by destroying the wand, which was a huge mistake.
I mean he did it basically out of spite for magic, the finger just made it more personal.
I miss this show. The last season was rushed as hell, but for this golden period of Toffee, it was brilliant. He's so intriguing as we never really knew the source for why he knew so much about the Butterfly family and magic itself despite not being apart of any of them, only effected. He has the brain and the brawn, but clearly was more lenient towards the brain. It's like he calculated everything, I just wish it was explored how "only [he] knows how it all turns out".
Not to mention they just did him dirty in the last season by making Star destroy magic...you know...the thing he was going to do

He saw through the ages eventually he realized the pattern of cycles and got bored with it
To me, this quote was meant to be juxtaposed with ludo killing him, showing that he in fact did not know how everything would end. The whole point of toffee is that he makes these very large giant plans that are extremely complex but should everything go exactly right, it all works out. This is his downfall, being too complex, two convoluted essentially his plan is like a chain with hundreds of links. The more links in a chain, the more flexible it is and the more break points it has. This style is directly opposite of stars. Star is very much a charge in with no plan kind of girl. Her spontaneity was the only thing that could ever catch toffee off guard because she didn't plan, and so he couldn't predict her actions in advance for the most part, he was still able to predict and use her emotions to his advantage of course

More Toffee is what the show needed, or at least a villiain as good as he was.
No wonder why for me the show went down just when he did.
I think mixing the villains in a different order would have benefited the end a lot. Because meteora was a good villain, but Mina was garbage. And toffee was perfect. I think making Mina, then meteora, then toffee being the order of villains would have made the show have a BIG finish. But the way they did it, the first 2 seasons, perhaps even 3 were BANGER! I just wish season 4 was as good.
The odd thing though Mina could’ve been a great villain a perfect example of prejudice taken to the extreme, but the execution was definitely lacking They made her plenty hate-able though I’ll give them that and Meteora was a pretty decent villain too
They had what made the show great in the first place, then threw it and any potential it had down the garbage. Toffee was literally the only reason I watched the show in the first place, and his death was the reason I left. His supposed return was promising, and then his sudden death was extremely disappointing. Any potential to create an interesting backstory connection with the mewni was reduced to a stupid motivation of wanting a single goddamn finger back
in the end, Toffee was right. the magic needed to be destroyed so monsters could live in peace. his methods were just...extreme

I like how he had the whole kingdom under his control but no, he wanted his finger back and was just walking away. Even when he was attacked by everyone he just pushed them back like "just back off people, it's over" and didn't unleash his blood lust or anything.
More importantly is that he was that powerful all along; He only lost the ability to regenerate a finger but he was pretty much as powerful as he was while leading the immortal army.
He even went through learning all powerful magic and defeating everyone to just let Star destroy the wand that easily.
Not sure what star accomplished by killing him except retribution. The guy had the biggest advantage he could possibly have but he just decided to leave, which probably means that he had nothing more to do with them.
Also, I like how just by loosing his finger, he just looked upset and left and that was it XD. His passivity is something else.
It’s kindof like when the avengers killed Thanos, like they lost, he won, and nothing was gained from that
Its strange since he is the general that went rouge after the peace treaty was announced that means he didn't want the peace treaty to happen. So were they originally planning war and the plan just changed over time after he lost his finger? It did say in Moon's scripture that it haunted him for a long time.
Well, it's not like it mattered tho, he still kinda won; he got his finger back, he managed to exact revenge against Moon, and Monster and Mewmans will never be have peace after he killed Star... Until she got revived and killed him. It was still kinda a win so he won before he lost.
The kingdom meant nothing to him after he had done what he had really set out to do, which was to get rid of all magic. And he doesn't even put much effort into disabling Moon or Marco furthermore. They aren't threats to him. And he knows that without magic, the kingdom is all but dead.

Well he would never have the power he did before he lost his finger. I think the quote is in one of the avengers, all you have to do to make people stop believing in a god is make him bleed. Toffee's army hinged on the belief they could regenerate from anything, once moon destroyed it and he couldn't grow it back the army just left

toffee is one of THE most complex villains I've ever seen. I still, to this day AFTER THE SERIES HAS ENDED AND HE HAS DIED. Do not know what he wanted. I can't decide if he just wanted his finger back the whole time or if his only goal was to make sure everybody lost but him

@@TripleTXL He’s a Magneto like character. He’s not right in his methodology, but he’s not wrong in his viewpoint.
His view point would be that Mewmans took Mewni from the Monsters unfairly, and magic is dangerous in the hands of the Mewmans who can easily use it to bully or kill Monsters. Toffee’s not wrong; magic can be dangerous if fallen into the wrong hands, and the Mewmans were essentially conquers for Mewni’s land despite the Monsters originating and living on the land first.
Where Toffee is in the wrong is his methods. He lead a war on magic, killed Solaria and Comet Butterfly (Him killing Solaria is mentioned in the book of spells.), threatened a fourteen year old’s life, destroyed the most powerful relic in the multiverse, murdered the MHC through soul absorption, blew up Butterfly castle, and finally temporarily killing a fourteen year old girl.
His ultimate goal was to corrupt magic to make it unusable for the Mewmans so Monsters can eventually reconquer Mewni. He killed Comet because she was a threat to his plan of Monster dominance with her peace treaty, so he axed her under Seth’s orders. Despite losing his life, he still got what he wanted in the end with magic being gone.
Unfortunately for the verse however, what Star did was far worse than what Toffee did when it came to the elimination of magic. Toffee didn’t necessarily destroy magic in Battle for Mewni, but more or so corrupted it. I mention this because we saw when Star literally destroyed magic, it killed all beings who spawned from it. Star committed a indirect genocide by actually destroying magic; Toffee just made it unusable, but at least it showed with the MHC’s lifeless bodies when Star restored magic that at least magical creatures weren’t erased from the corruption. Star didn’t consider the ramifications of actually destroying magic, while (possibly) Toffee factored that there might be monsters who rely on magic to live.

I don't think he's (spoilers for season 3 ahead) really dead. The last line, "Only I know how this turns out" was obvious foreshadowing. He's too smart to turn his back on his enemy like that, and he's too good a tactician to have not planned for all this. Probably has some contingency. Plus the regeneration; even if he failed to plan contingencies, he has Deadpoolesque regeneration; someone removes that pillar, he'll probably come back.
Maybe I just enjoyed the character too much and want to believe he'll be back, though; who knows haha.
James Matthews I'd like to believe toffee will return. But remember eclipsa and moon's deal? You know, unfreeze eclipsa when they defeated their "enemy", which is toffee. And we get to see eclipsa, well, moving, hehe

I love how the most intricate villain in this series is also voiced by Micheal C. Hall who played dexter probably fictions most intricate duotaginist. A serial killer who’s killed hundreds, but all except one being criminals themselves, except for the one innocent man he accidentally killed, which sent him through a mental breakdown even though he has litttle to no emotion at all.

What I love most about Toffee (other than the fact that a character can make the name of a candy sound terrifying) is how absolutely in control he is. He easily manipulates Ludo into hiring him within ten seconds of meeting him, tricks him into firing his number one henchmen, and successfully usurps him with barely any effort. Then again, this IS LUDO we're talking about here.
That being said, unlike Ludo, his plans to steal the wand actually *work* and on top of that, he gains the loyalty of his henchmen by treating them like actual people - I'm pretty sure they even fought better when he was in charge. When he finally gets the wand, he has the sadistic cruelty to make Star destroy it herself - and when it inevitably explodes, he doesn't have an 'oh-shit' face. *HE JUST SMILES.*
In addition, he successfully manages to manipulate Ludo into destroying the Book of Spells (and Glossaric) *and* the wand *from beyond the grave.* Much as I like how the series progressed and ended, I really would've liked Toffee to reappear as the main antagonist for the rest of the series. It just felt like the entire show was a chess game to him and he knew every single move that his opponents would make and how to counter them - and on the off chance they managed to do something he didn't account for, he always had some sort of back-up plan to fall back on. Plans within plans, if you will.
*Clarification:* The book being destroyed was all Ludo, in Toffee's own words, it just so happened to benefit him since that resulted in Ludo becoming even easier to manipulate.

It's pretty sad how dirty Toffee was dealt. He was so intriguing, smart, and charismatic, just to be thrown to the way side without much care.

The scariest part is that when this kind of person is your enemy, just hope this kind of person is your leader.

The fact that Moon didn't kill Toffee in the first place is a pure detail. She understands Eclipsa's words that once the enemy is killed, she can break out regardless the crystal. But Moon only cause a threat and not killing them, ending the war which is all matter, and save her worries about Eclipsa. That was a wise choice of her being in her young age

Except for Ludo and Buffrog, he was actually good to his minions. Praising them when they did good. He’s charismatic and intelligent, that’s why they all turned on Ludo.

The show's story structure is VERY messy. Too much focus on random, inconsequential fluff, not enough focus on proper character development (outside of romance which kinda sucked anyway).

Mina is the only villain, and that's why this show is not perfect. Toffee, Eclipsa, Moon cannot be considered villains, antagonists at some point but not villains.
