    THANK YOU for Addressing the method one uses to blend these shadows. I’ve watched countless influencers go in using their heavy blend method with pressed pigments, non-warm shades, etc., declare them horrible, and make these dramatic thumbnails like “garbage!” You gotta press em and fluff the edge... as you described.

    • @lovemyrainydays

      I agree. I'm thinkng it's probably why with this vault collection and it's green & purple palettes, some of the nicest looks and best results I've seen seem to have come from youtubers (like Makemeupmissa, Brianna Fox and now Angelica) who are actually used to working with cooler colourful shades, or who just have the actual skills to do so.

  • @TrishSE

    Thank you so much for explaining the application differences between warm and cool shadows. It may not be a bad shadow, it's that some pigments just have to be formulated differently. What I wish more reviewers would do is keep this in mind and compare its quality to similar shades from other brands. That would help a lot in determining if a cool toned palette is a good buy or if it's better to buy individual dupe shades. With that in mind, Angelica could you please do a video comparing the performance of different purples, blues, and greens? Like for greens: the best performing true green, olives, forests, moss, mints, neons, etc. It's so hard to find purples that don't go gray and muddy! You are awesome Angelica. I love waking up to see an update from you so I can watch you over my morning coffee :) And this Dark Magic palette is the one I am most interested in and I might now pick it up.

    Hi my name is Maria I live in New Jersey, USA and I love this review! I also bought only the dark magic palette it was the most unique to me especially because of the color potion. That color gives me chills, I love it! You are so right, I noticed in the few negative reviews I saw they were using a larger blending brush. When it comes to colorful eyeshadows I only watch you, biohazard beauty, Georgia Harris, makeup struggles and spooky lips and fat hips. You guys are amazing and truly love colorful eyeshadows. Poof is indeed a derogatory term for someone who is gay here in the UK 🇬🇧 HOWEVER it is not the only meaning of the word it can also refer onomatopoeically to something either disappearing/reappearing as if by magic or it might be something someone says if they are trying to brush something off that some of has said (Oh poof is like saying oh nonsense) as someone who is both gay and from the UK... it would never have crossed my mind for a minute that the name of the colour was refrenceing British derogatory slang as it was in a pallet with the name 'Dark magic'. I assumed it was referencing the magical term poof. Xxx (the two words are pronounced ever so slightly differently I should add... but the difference is so slight I wouldn't expect a non native speaker to even be able to distinguish) xxx

    • @AngelicaNyqvist
      @AngelicaNyqvist  6 лет назад +8

      Thank you for clearing it up. I would use the word as in "poof its gone-magic" but then my english more american than brittish and I wasnt sure. I just wanted to also shed some light on that it's not easy to know what all words mean in different languages even though sometimes we are expected to know everything, and nobody does :)

    • @agataloca
      @agataloca 4 года назад +1

      I knew about the alternative use, and probably wouldn't have reacted either (it's not that common -- I think?) but still a very good point and shows awareness and empathy, which I commend you for.

    • @iokneafsey8039
      @iokneafsey8039 4 года назад

      agataloca yeah 100% agree, the derogatory poof is pretty common here but I hardly ever hear it actually used as an insult. The British lovingly throw insults at each other all the time so in the gay community calling each other derogatory insults between friends is almost a term of endearment. 😂 Us British are weird, is your best friend even your best friend if you don’t call them a c*nt on the daily. 😂😂😂

  • @sebastianvilchez6453

    For all the people out there, Poof means homosexual in an offensive way! But also poof is the sound it makes when magics makes dissapear something (ie; Fairy Godparents, magic in general) It must be a word lost in context kind of like Fifi from Afriques palette 😂😂

    Sooo, I did something very unusual for me. I watched this video, went to Ulta, swatched the palette, and BOUGHT IT. Like, who am I anymore?? 😂 But the shadows swatched so smoothly (I was expecting chalky and crumbly??), and the palette clearly filled a huge hole in my collection of colors; a gap that I would have needed to spend $60 or more to sloowwwllly fill with Sydney Grace and Coloured Raine shadows. I still plan to buy from those two companies, but I have dramatically increased my eye look capabilites in one $15 USD swoop! Thank you for this review and demo, Angelica!!
    P. S. Mine is also marked AB07A V2? 😮 Batch twinsiiiiieees 😂

  • @amyhearn2428
    @amyhearn2428 6 лет назад +17

    I bought the whole vault. My biggest issue is that it is just as hard to blend the other palettes, including the peaches, oranges, and browns in the ring the alarm. I feel I can only do super bold looks with all of them as they only look blended/not patchy in their darkest form. And it takes considerably more time than my other colorful palettes.
    I purchased them to use on the daily but I don't have 20 minutes in the morning to perfect an eyelook when I just want to put a little color on my eyes.

    I love how you’re so considerate of what words mean in different languages/ cultures. Listening to you your english is definitely influenced by American rather than British english (you often mention that you have no pants on... in America pants are trousers, but in Britain pants are underwear, so it always makes me laugh for completely the wrong reasons! 😂), so it’s impressive you picked up on the double meaning of that particular word.

      @@tfox8413 It's basically a very derogatory term for gay men. My dad's side of the family is from England and he told me it was pretty common to make fun of other men by calling them that word 😔

    • @minkg8178
      @minkg8178 6 лет назад +13

      It's a term that used to be used here in the UK and a few oldies still use it but these days it's not really much of a thing and as derogatory words go it was always very much on the mild side. In a palette called dark magic I'd assume it was like "poof and it disappeared". We also pronounce the word pouffe (padded foot stool) as poof, so the word from a heard point of view has at least two meanings. We also say "poofy hair" if someone has fluffed up and backcombed their hair to a cloudy, puffy sort of look. Oh and we also still use it in the sense of "poof and he vanished", lol. It depends on the rest of the words in the sentence as to whether it's offensive or not.
      Edited to add - when I say only oldies really say it, I should point out I'm in my 40s so I mean people from my parents generation!

    • @thestrawberrygir1000
      @thestrawberrygir1000 6 лет назад +9

      I see that argument but I think it can be a slippery slope if we police everything people say over something like a slang derogatory term that’s not used in that many places it’s true meaning is to make something disappear and it makes total sense it’s a magic themed makeup palette if we go by that argument then people also shouldn’t use the word fairy because that is also a derogatory term against gay men and it’s been used in the US and UK, see how it’s a slippery slope also the word Fruity or fruit was another one that was used but these are words that already existed but were stolen by others to be used in terrible ways however that doesn’t mean we can no longer use them in their real context, however I do see the hypocrisy in how Americans react towards the f** word which in the Uk is just slang for cigs but here in the US it’s a pretty violent word towards gay men, also I agree that many Americans need to widen their horizons they can be very ignorant and uncultured , I say that as an American with immigrant parents so trust me I know lol

    Gorgeous!!! This is the one from this collection that is still speaking to me the most! I just love these types of shades, and they're so uncommon (specially to us here in Oz, and at internationally-wallet-friendly prices). Thanks so much for talking about the differences when working with cooler and/or colourful shades as opposed to warmer ones - and especially when taking into account your natural undertone. Maybe that's why I've never had much of a problem working with cooler colourful shades, even super-cheap "iffy quality" ones (as in, I've had plenty of practice since they're what I always wear, and I've got a super cool undertone to start with). It's also probably why when thinking on this vault collection and it's green & purple palettes, some of the nicest looks and best results seem to have come from youtubers (like Makemeupmissa, Brianna Fox and now you Angelica) who are actually used to working with cooler colourful shades, or who just have the actual skills to do so.

    Angelica, you can make EVERY SINGLE color of the rainbow work on you....I’m jealous, I wish I could pull that off. You and Elle S are wiz’s at Makeup....Please never stop!! Also, your longer videos are GREAT.....I thoroughly enjoy them. Love and Hugs Hon from St. Louis, MO. XOXO

    Your tips on applying shadows are fantastic! I love these eye looks. I think a lot of people apply those cooler tones in the windshield wiper fashion and that’s why their looks are patchy or not as opaque. I agree with you 2000 percent. I always look forward to your videos! ❤️

    That green look has me so inspired! I was almost ready to make my first JH/Morphe purchase, but then I realized my barely used Subculture palette along with a shimmery green from Juvia's Place could give me this look. I feel so excited and inspired...and proud of myself for looking into my collection before seeking to add to it. Back to the rest of the video...

    Heyyy girl hope you doing well. Can't explain how happy I got when you uploaded the video especially with this palette. I was waiting for somebody to use it properly. I agree with you those colours are hard to make and it will get patchy if it was blended harshly. Also people need to understand they have to use a darker base or a lighter base to pop the colour and prevent patchiness. I can't believe I found you and I can't wait to recreate these looks. God bless you. 😍😍😍💜💜💜

    These looks are both GORGEOUS!! Thank you for explaining that certain colors have to be used differently, no matter what brand! I have the palettes and I really like them all, although the two greens are way too similar, I wish the one it the other palette was brighter! 🍉🌻🐹🌼🍑

    Honestly I bought the entire vault collection and the Dark Magic Palette was the only palette that performed well for me. The warm toned palettes are actually not good. The shimmers are very dull, you have to pack A LOT of colour onto your led to get it to remotley show up and some shades just dissapear (like actually dissapear) oh and some of the mattes wouldn’t blend AT ALL. So if I had to rank to palettes from best to worst it would be: Dark Magic, Ring the Alarm, Bling Boss and Armed and gorgeous (which was the worst out of all of them).

    • @padfootslover
      @padfootslover 6 лет назад

      I gave Ring the Alarm to my sister. I wasn't interested in it at all, but I figured she might like it. Now I feel bad b/c it may not work for her. Dark Magic & Ring the Alarm were good palettes to me, but I haven't used Armed & Gorgeous yet.

    This blue eyeshadow look might be my favorite from you so far. 😍 Thank you for sharing how to best work with colors like that 💖.
    I got the complete vault and so far, I‘m not mad. It’s not the best I’ve ever tried, but I can make it work without a lot of work.

    I was really concerned they’d be awful after watching all the reviews I could before I bought them but decided to take the plunge with my fingers firmly crossed, I didn’t have much like them in my collection and love all the shades in both palettes so I’m very happy!

    I picked up this exact same palette, tried it out & like you I wasn't blown away but I did think it was just ok. I ended up returning mine in the end because I found something else I thought would be a lot more enjoyable. Just felt like if I had kept it I wouldn't find myself reaching for it very much. Loved your looks by the way, stunning as usual!
