A director's films do not define what kind of a person they are. John Waters is a living proof of this.

That's debatable. It certainly reveals their true colors, to a degree. Any True Art does.

John Waters says he agrees with not harming animals during production. I wonder, as someone who's seen Pink Flamingoes, when in his career he started to feel this way? Of all the things in that movie, that's the one thing I always fast forward through.

Why is *Pecker* not at least on Blu-ray yet? It has a commentary track dating back to the laserdisc, which I used to have.

I love this film more than most cause hampden was my nieborhood for all my life until I left at 19 so seeing all my sights and those places where I walked is always nice to revisit even if it's just on a TV and hairspray is a good watch also

The story in Pecker is close to what could have happened in the New York art scene in the 60s and maybe 70s.

    we love ya, John.
I was trying to think about whether or not I'd consider John Waters a "genius". and I thought "Not based on his movies, no." and then I started to think about what made him unique in our culture and it was basically everything. there's nobody like John Waters - he's exclusively himself. and he's kept this up for going back decades. half a century. here he talks about weird works of art. well, he's a work of art himself. everywhere he goes, that's where John Waters is. it's entirely local to only him. and that takes some sort of natural genius. has to.
