The fact that the lyrics are in Comic Sans makes this song even more perfectly depressing to me.
but it aint in comic sans...
0 0 oh shit youre right, halfway through the font changes tho. my bad lol
especially the thing how the singer for this died-
I don't care if it is Comic Sans or not it matches the song and does makes the song even depressing
Sex is worth living for!!!!!
These lyrics profoundly capture the feeling of having to leave someone you still love and care about. Love will tear us apart again
Why, "have" to leave them if you STILL "love" and care about them? wtf? lol that's the problem man... men can't handle emotions it seems and cannot stand up to their families when they disapprove of their significant other. Cowards. Why does it seem like only females are rough riders? It's such horse shit. lol
There's a reason this singer hung himself.
thanks for letting me know the instrumental was going on.
John Richardson 😂😂😂😂
very insightful lyrics !
Lol
Arafat Zahan loads of them are wrong as well
It is meant for deaf people
This song is played all the time at work, makes shifts a little easier every time it comes on 😌
You look fucking great, like really gorgeous
+Laura M people like you are great
Kate Sophia Thank you
This little restaurant near London :-)
+pyrrhichos fyi dont go telling random people on the internet where you wont
The lyrics make me cry so hard. Nothing is more depressing than having the one you once loved with all your heart slip away.

I've always liked the phrase "Love will tear us apart." and I used to doodle it every day. I knew it was a song, but I never listened to it. This is the first time I'm listening to it woah.
Liar
@@rosuppp this a completely normal scenario you fucking mongoloid
Ross Greening she said she knew it was a song lmao
This is like Eleanor from Eleanor and Park
Same same samw
I love this song, but it's also so sad to listen to, because you can just tell by his voice that Ian was really going through a rough time. So sad that he's gone. :(
And killed himself before the release date. Tragic.
I can’t believe this comment is 6 years old
@@Liz-ru2bq I can't believe ihave 32 y old

this band deserves more recognition... they are one of the greatest bands to ever exist
Comment form 14 years ago 🙂↕️
One of the best songs ever recorded. A fucking masterpiece. Oh, and Joy Division being the incredible band they were brought me here... Relationships, too, lol. RIP Ian.
my dad always played this song when I was growing up I love joy division so much
If only Ian Curtis had lived for a further 2-3 years, Joy Division may have been recognised as the dark version of The Beatles.
Peter hook says that if Ian had've lasted only a few more days he'd probably never of tried to kill himself again because of the American tour they were supposed to do.
true
Rick Sanchez Shame, Ian did the most idiotic thing to do..
We have Radiohead.
Nicholas Pagano I think you're not giving due credit to the whole band. Without Harrison and Ringo, the band wouldn't of sounded like they did.
Whilst this isn't Joy Division's best piece of work, it stirs something deep inside me and enabled me to delve deeper into their music.
Everyone has a special memory of this song: some great, some terrible, some a combination of the two. But even 35 years after it's release, the fact that it still makes people feel so strongly, myself included, is proof of it's perfection.
Don't just see the sad side of Joy Division: See their genius and music, too.
Plus Peter Hook is one of my heroes!
Joy Division ITSELF brought me here.
Hell yeah!
+Rotten Stench Hope you feel special, bro.
I was also conceived in that brothel. Perhaps we are related?
I got you
Amen brother!! I grew up with this music. How lucky I am!!!
Well, I'm here because of Joy Division itself. They kept me going when I was an adolescent, and now that I'm older I want to honor them.
Man, I love how punk rocky this song sounds. I miss good punk rock.
I haven't listened to this in a couple of years but I still can't resist air drumming/keyboarding to it after many years of watching the music video, even though i've allways wanted to play the electric guitar more than any other instrument (even just as an amature bedroom guitarist). I WAS for about 4 years since Christmas 2012, I used to jam and practice in my bedroom every afternoon and evening. For the past 2 and a half years though I've barely played the acoustic guitar I have left, since working on and off and throwing away both my cheep and faulty electric guitars out of frustration. But after these 2 years i've been saving money and watching alot of guitar how to, tips and tricks videos to build my own that I roughly designed and made out of K'nex as a kid (still daydreaming of having a real one). I just, "I wish that I knew what I know now, when I was younger", I could've had the knowledge and will power to "sharpen my axe(s)" and THEN build my own. Never give up on your dreams people, "don't stop believing". Sorry, this was going to be a short comment (if that) but I had to let it out, I think it had to be said. DON'T GIVE UP ON WHAT'S GOOD, WHAT'S RIGHT, WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO, WHAT YOU NEED TO DO, WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS DREAMED AND WANTED TO DO !!! POWER TO THE PEOPLE !!!
"When routine bites hard And ambitions are low . . ."
Yooo im so high right now listening to this. Got me feeling like this is the best song ever. Sounds like a cleaned up Jim Morrison
im drunk, like music more when drunk but ayy crossfades with music tho thats the shit right there
YES
johnny thunders shame
+Axis360 I don't get it
I was referring to the fact that he likes the music more when he is drunk
Stephen Morris is such an underrated drummer. :)
So glad you said that. He's one of my absolute favourites.
I'm glad I said it too.
Guy Henry
Nice one
Charlotte MissMadchester Isn't it.
Guy Henry
I certainly thought so.
I thank Eleanor & park for bringing me here haha
Love always tear us apart, over and over again.
I had no idea of this band til I watched the movie Control... Awesome!!! the sound of the band and its history are way great too!!! totally in love with the music
This song is an anthem full of emotions, blues, atmospheres.
i would think so... seeing as Ian Curtis was a deeply emotional genius who hung himself.
norevelation Ian Curtis, you mean.
thats embarrassing. ian travis is a guy i grew up with. freudian slip.
Did you mean Ian Curtis? didn´t you?
Karloff Winkler yes. the singer. lol.
These words explain it so well the feeling of having been with someone for a certain amount of years you love them then routine this songs sums up it perfectly but you still love them its life never be newly weds forever
Hey, do you wish to get your ex back or recover someone you love?
If yes, then i'd like to recommend a spellcaster who brought my ex back.

no matter how many times that i listen to this ,i still feelamazed at how brilliant it is
This is too good for this world
I love this song it gives me a feeling I can't explain
My best friend got me into this song, and I can't help but repeat the intro because I love it so much, and I love this song so much!!
I love that the goth kids from American dad danced to this song to try and scare the jocks away. lmao
I don't understand why they used this song to fend themselves off from the popular kids. Was there some kind of context I was missing?
+karmalotus22 post punk is pretty much the original "goth music", joy division is a huge band in the the goth scene
+Sam qwert so original that the genre their most commonly defined as didn't even exist when they made this song.
Cody Cullum if I understand your comment correctly, most of the first post punk bands didn't consider themselves as it, as it didnt exists as a genre yet as they were the ones that created it, most of their first music didn't even sound like post punk so it's hard to say what band "started it"
+Sam qwert Post-punk existed, but 'Goth' was only recognised from 1983. A band like JD being Goth is therefore re-categorising with hindsight.
I cry on that song since the early 80's SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SONG made with heart, love !
" I just wanted to listen to those three seconds over and over."
"You could have"
"I didn't want to waste the batteries."
Yup! Eleanor & Park brought me here! I love that book! And thanks to it I know who the Smiths are and all these bands!! Thank You!!!!
I love how I can not only listen to this guy sing, but I can feel him as well.
i was a fan earlier, but episode one of 13 reasons why brought me back
Eleanor & Park brought me here. Outstanding book and a very good song, indeed! I don't know why I've never listened to this before, but I'm glad I had now!
Perfect book ♡♡♥
José Zepeda THIS BOOK BREAKS MY HEART EVERYTIME I READ IT IVE READ IT LIKE THREE TIMES
Okay, apparently I need to read this book 😭🤣
what is that
I had a film studies teacher in high school. he was a totally awesome person; made me want to become a director. he loved music like this and he showed me movies like The Royal Tenanbaums and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Anyway, he is the reason I discovered this band because he said my ex looked like Ian Curtis. so
So Mr.(Ms.) Loparco, you brought me herr.
I already knew Joy Division thanks to my dad's impeccable taste in music but Eleanor and Park gave me a new love and appreciation for this song.
Omg same
Seeing the words is a reminder of the fact that Ian Curtis wasn't just a frontman for a band; he was a poet.
This Song, This Song Will Tear Me Apart
13 reasons why brought me here and my dad since he would always listen to it when i was little.
Amazing song. I just heard this. I really like it. The 80s must have been amazing.
adoro questa canzone, il testo , la musica, l'arrangiamento, la voce di Ian Curtis. Da brividi.
Still a great song over 30 years later!
Donnie Darko, American Dad, and Criminal Minds has this song: ) but first herd it when I watched Donnie Darko. I love love love this song. And love the lyrics. I have been in this situation where I felt like this and in a weird way gave me peace. And surprisingly my parents never herd this song till I let them hear it. But what ever I love Joy Division!
I swear i want to be friends with teenagers like me who still listening to this song.

+Kristaafaa Rustymuffin I agree. This song makes me sad man :(
I really like this song, even when it hurts so much. I'm so freaking heartbroken.
the moment after years of just liking the song because its catchy, you now relate to every single word
there can be no better anthemion and cathartic sing than this and we thank the late Ian Curtis for bringing it to us.
I'm here because about 6 years ago I had these lyrics on my bedsheets and I had never heard the song before

This song has serenaded so many sad moments with girls I've loved and struggled with through sweet moments of honesty and strife, argument and expressions of past hate, unluckily pressed to each other to get through present sadness. But such an aching song admitting to the tearing apart and coming together, the longing of an angry girlfriend who's just stormed out to God knows where, or myself out under a bridge wondering how the split happened, and yet we can't get enough of this song's bittersweet honesty when we realise fighting is healthy because we are expressing our freedom to feel what we are feeling to someone dear to us where ever they have run away to.
Perfectly sums up the bittersweet feeling when you realise you can’t try again. Not because you don’t care, but because you both care far too much. You’ll see each other and it’ll go right back to how it was because you can’t help yourself or keep away

Heard this first on 13 reasons why, loved the instrumental
Great song! First heard this in May 1982, on the Dangerous Exposures radio show on WABX - Detroit (hosted by Greg St. James).
i brought myself here because when i was a teenager i was introduced to this song and absolutely loved it.!!!! i also am a fan of new order......and the movie Donnie Darko
Sad to know that this man killed himself. 23, he had the voice of an older man. I would have loved to see what the American tour would have been like. RIP
Louis Tomlinson's shirt brought me here. Damn it Larry fucking shit
I cannot believe my miserable life avoided this band until I read Eleanor and Park.
The radio, VH1 & MTV always play shitty music to where you never know that good music does exist. I didn’t know about Joy Division until recent years! I didn’t know that Nine Inch Nails’ Dead Souls was a cover of Joy Division’s original!
When i heard this song for the first time quite a few years ago i felt so simple, I had gone my a whole 13 years of my life thinking I knew the best of music but really i knew nothing. it was like an awakening. sounds so cliche but that's exactly how it felt to me. one of the best songs ever made imo
i kinda want to get high listening to stuff like this
Never knew what this song was called!! Love it!!
Here because of Eleanor and Park
I imagine Molly Ringwald dancing they way she did in The Breakfast Club to this playing in the background
Brian H. I
😍
Did that happen? that would be so cool
I came here from the movie Donnie Darko, and I'm a fan of Joy Division.
The best start ever to a rock n roll record ever......not a bad middle either....love it.

Actually i been here 7yrs..:0
Love... Love will tear us apart... Just one time....
Wow I have loved this song for many years but had no idea until today about the guy having many issues and then hung himself and how the remaining members formed New Order!
Kent Kent will tear us apart again!
this song is beautiful i cant explain it, it reminds me of the sunrise
I listened to this song when I was 8 years old.. now I'm 19 & I feel old.
I feel like I'm one of few who came here just because of my refined taste in quality music (In my ego-stroking opinion, anyways.) The more the merrier though. Doesn't really matter what brought you here, as long as you're here in the first place because this song is definitely up there in awesomeness.
FinishingMove That's also the reason why everyone who heard it from somewhere is here as well. They simply like it. Sorry... You aren't so special.
Aventine Yeah, I know lol. At least I didn't make a comment like "I'm a fetus and I like Joy Division!"
I take it ill see you at the monocle shop?
Gray Fox Yes you will.
LegitPotatoSacks still as cringy reading this as the fetus ones
Eleanor & Park is what this song makes me think of
I'm reading that rn... ironic
+Jay bird me too .. :')
oh my god same ;-; that book is so goals
Joy Division is what this song makes me think of.
Sorry you've never had the chance to read such a wonderful book : )
How have I gone so long without connecting Joy Division and New Order?? Its a sin.
oh dear. yeah you're probably going to hell 😂
Because new order sucks.
Depeche Mode
Joy Division was one of the darkest greatest things to ever come out of Manchester.
my dad always played this song when I was growing up I love joy division so much

Ian Curtiss is a genius I identify with the always legend, I also have had epilepsy
Goth brought me here years ago, as if that makes me any better than those who learned of this song from Phantom Pain.
Can you not it doesnt matter where you got its good so they came
asis Can't read I see.
+Jack Mendez kept you waiting, huh
How can words arrangements like this become so classic
TO BE HONEST, WHILE METAL GEAR SOLID V BROUGHT ME HERE, IT ALSO BROUGHT BACK THE SCARS OF MY PAINFUL CHILDHOOD NOSTALGIA, BACK WHEN LIFE WAS SIMPLE AND SOMEWHAT JOYOUS.
