  • In this experiment, I don't want to use standard grout on my Glass on Glass Mosaic vase, so I attempt to use a clear silicone sealant grout technique instead! This isn't the "clear grout" you can get that is only partially translucent... it's totally clear sealant caulk stuff!

You fell from heaven to me 😃 My beautiful mosaic work is waiting for the gaps to be filled and I don't like ordinary grout. I had exactly the same idea and was wondering about what you showed. Tomorrow I will finish my work with transparent silicone. Thank you for the useful instruction I decided to press some "Resin Bubble Beads, 100g 1-3mm Iridescent Glass No Hole" into the applied silicone to my mosaic.🙏

Wow, thus was beautiful and something I had been searching for *for quite a while*. Your channel just showed up on my feed after three years, I'm checking out your other episodes. 😊 Thanks

I've been wanting to see how this is done. Thanks for your friendly demonstration! One question: was it hard to keep from getting it on, and cleaning it off, the glass/tess/gems? Thanks....

Love the idea of watching you work on a project. Maybe try marking off your starting point with painters tape or something similar (washable marker ) at the top and bottom edges of the vase. Clear grout is amazing. 👍👌

You have the perfect personality for this type of tutorial!! Thank you ever so much!!! Im sure by now you have run across the newer TRANSLUCENT Grout products. A lot more $$$ than regular grouts but the effect is pretty awesome. You helped me with my problem and I can't thank you enough. I used the DAP to fill the area under the glass pieces. And now Im going to use the colored translucent grout in much smaller amounts on top of the DAP?? I would love to see many more of these video's to come!!

Thank you for sharing your experiment. I was wanting to do the same thing with the product I used to glue down the pieces (Liquid Nails Clear Seal) It looks the same as what you used for grout. The piece I made is very large so I didn't want to experiment on it, but I will probably do it after seeing how nice yours turned out. I love love your creation, your choice of glass and arrangement are awesome!

Very cool! That's an interesting product, too -- I would have thought that silicone was the only viable product similar to what you were looking for. This stuff looks to be notably better from a lot of usability aspects, so I'm going to keep that in mind. Literally the only advantage the silicone would have had is that it doesn't shrink... but everything else would have been worse.
    Glad you made the video!

Thanks Kurt! Took me long enough! :D Anyway glad you enjoyed it and I wish I had looked into what chemical it was before doing the video so I didn't keep referring to it as silicone or caulk. But you can find it with all that stuff! Maybe I should change the title to "clear rubbery stuff"? ha!

What did you originally use to attach the glass pieces to the vase?

Just Weldbond glue! It works great and dries mostly clear. I'm not sure it's great for outdoor applications tho. Hope that helps!
