For Yunnan people, it's a novel experience to pick coconuts. This is my first time climbing onto such a tall tree and picking coconuts. In September, you can find big coconuts sold in many places here in Xishuangbanna. They are usually sold at the price of 10 yuan. When speaking of Yunnan cuisines, we only use coconuts when making Paoluda. But the dish is still not native to the place. We, locals, can also make some coconut dishes to treat others. It was my grandparents' first time drinking coconut juice and enjoying dishes made with fresh coconuts. I also find it very interesting so I made all the dishes I know with not only coconut flesh but shell.

FYI To those reading English Subtitles - the green bottle of liquid they use to imbue the lip balm with fragrance is Hua Lu Shui (花露水), which isn't "toilet water" - it's more commonly translated as Florida Water in English. I'm speculating the English mistranslated it because they were thinking of "eau de toilette", aka perfume. I love this stuff, it smells amazing, and it's a known mosquito repellent with wound/itch soothing properties.

Yeah, I love how this family works together, with love, to live a harmonious life with each other and nature around them. Love these videos, hoping to find a wife who can cook like Penji, lol. King is a beautiful dog, mine are in the photo to the left. I think we all need to eat what we produce like these fine people. As a American most people have forgotten the work it takes to feed a family in this way, except for a few people in I know here in the Appalachian mountains who still produce their own foods. Love the preserving methods in these videos. My favorite are the pork dishes and videos. Keep up the good work Penji. You are showing the world what it has forgotten and needed to be remembered.

Here in the South Pacific, we call the coconut tree, the tree of life because every part of the tree can be used. From the leaves, to the bark, to the husks of the coconut, to the fruit itself. Everyday I’m so amazed by your hometown scenery, I wished I was living in a environment like yours with no pollution and where all your produce is freshly made everyday.
You are absolutely right! But in the countryside, you need to make everything yourself (unless you buy processed foods like others do). You have to even climb coconut trees to pluck the coconuts yourself and to crush them and squeeze out the milk. Actually not many city people can endure such a life.

Coconut trees don't grow in her village. She lives near Dali (I think she said Baoshan 保山) in Yunnan province, quite close to Tibetan mountains, I don't recall seeing coconut trees there. the weather is too cold in winter. She probably went to South Yunnan in Xishuangbanna area as in the coconut trees forest we can see a small pagoda (don't know what it is exactly) with typical Dai style roof. Dai people live mostly in the south of Yunnan province. The trip from Baoshan to Jinghong in Xishuangbanna is like 10+, hours by car, 600+ kilometers. She puts so much dedication into her videos 😍
But indeed, there is such a variety of fruits and vegetables in her area it's close to gardener paradise 😍

如何制作牛奶饭（kiri Bath）：
原料：
3杯白米饭
1 个椰子奶油（或 1 个 13 盎司罐头）
盐适量
将大米清洗干净。将米饭放入锅中，用食指粘在米饭表面，加水至略高于食指第二关节。盖上盖子，用小火煮米饭。
当米饭快熟时，将盐和椰奶混合，加入米饭中搅拌，再煮几分钟。
或者，您可以在电饭煲中煮米饭，水量略高于 3 杯水位。在米饭煮熟前约5分钟加入咸椰奶并搅拌。再煮5分钟左右。
如何制作填充物（peni-pol）：
1 1/2 杯新鲜磨碎的椰子。
1/2 杯 Kitul 糖浆（或替代 2/3 杯红糖，溶解在 1/4 杯水中）
3丁香压碎。
捏盐。
将糖浆在中火下煮沸。添加其余的填充成分。煮约 5 分钟，不断搅拌，直到所有液体都被椰子吸收。 （确保它仍然潮湿）
大多数吉祥场合的必备品。
方法：
煮牛奶饭。按照上面的方向。
在煮米饭的时候，按照上面的方向。
现在组装 imbul kiri 浴缸。
将几勺奶米放入涂油的模具中。 （任何不浅的小盘子都可以）。将它均匀地分布在模具周围直到边缘，在中间留下一个洞。用填充物填满孔，再在上面放更多的牛奶米，压缩至与模具边缘齐平。
小心脱模，装盘。享受！

Hi Penji, there's another way to extract the oil from coconut without heat process, nor cold pressed. I've been using this method for years. I think you can do this during summer. I do it this way to keep all the nutrients from the coconut, bcs the heat will damage them. All you need to do is, store your thick coconut milk into a clean transparant container and keep the lid on. Then keep it somewhere warm (not hot). You can also keep it near your room heater for couple of days. After couple of days you will see 2 layers of liquid (that's why I suggest to use transparant container, because it's better to keep it "sealed" during the process while you can check on it without taking the lid off) now you can filter it to separate the oil from the coconut foam (I call it foam because the cream became foamy). That's how you get the coconut oil without heat process. I use the oil for my hair and to massage my scalp.

Lovely and peaceful life in countryside. Reminds me of my hometown. In Central Java (Indonesia), people used to take coconuts without safety ropes and ladders. They do it by climbing coconut trees to the top and pick the coconuts with bare hands by twisting it.

This reminds me of the coconut trees 🌴 in my grandparents yard in the village. Our grandfather used to always say us not to go near the trees on windy day because it is dangerous. But of course my brother and I sometimes secretly go and have little adventures around it.😁 oh.. I miss those days.Whenever we visit there our grandparents pick coconuts 🥥 and we get to eat their flesh and the water which is very refreshing and also other nice dishes. In Sri Lanka there are coconut trees everywhere. But I feel something quite special about our grandparent's coconut trees. I am so sad that I couldn't go their in a long time because of corona. Me and my family live in the city and it is a long journey to the village but it's worth it! I miss them a lot! 😥😭
