Thankyou for showing everyone The Croft yes it Sad to see it in such bad condition let Hope when you visit the area again you may see that someone may just love it and can bring it back to life again and enjoy that Beautiful Area
That would have been beautiful back in the day. It's such a shame like you said that it couldn't be saved. These could be turned into visitor centres or, like the cottage you are in and bring some money to the area as visitor numbers would pay for the restoration and renovation quickly. Thank you for that look around and to you for braving those stairs, lol. Xxxx Jacs 💚❤️🏴
Ooo that bird did give me a fright Jacs😂 love that little cottage, if I was allowed I'd rescue it. There is no track to it so I wonder if that's why it's not been saved, access is tricky. But I've seen lots of ruins that are easy to get to, but were abandoned a long time ago. Its tricky because I bet it's hard for local people to find somewhere to live, so many cottages are holiday homes - I'm staying in one! Owner lives just up the road, but stayed in a cottage last year (not far from here) and the owner lived in Hemel Hempstead! At least this cottage belongs to a local.
Hi Kerry, oh my I love seeing old buildings like this as you can see how they used to live . The thick stone walls etc. . Thank you for taking us on your journey love from Linda C ❤😊
Me too Linda, love a ruin and really love seeing how people used to live, domestic history is one of my fav subjects and old buildings offer so much. Once worked in a big Queen Anne building that had old servants quarters that weren't used any more, boy it was fun going on an explore during my breaks😀💕others used to think I was nuts lol.
@@Kerry.Morton oh wow, I also love looking at domestic history as I find it amazing how they used to live compared to todays living. I struggle to walk without my trolley on long walks and also use a stick if I need to but have to take several breaks . So watching your channel on this kind of thing brings me great Joy . I feel I’m in there with you. Thank you so much ❤️❤️🥰🤗😁Linda C
Hi Kerry, that's heart breaking to see that beautiful cottage going to ruin, to think it was someone's cherished home. Can imagine it would be very bleak in the winter, but a beauty in all seasons. Would love to be able to rebuild it. We can all dream😏 don't think you would ever tire of those views💖 Enjoy yourselves, byee 👋Jen 💕😘xx
Tis heartbreaking Jen, especially such a well built stone cottage. Lack of a track to it from the road prob didn't help its future, if it had a track likely would have been saved and added to mains water. Wonder if there was a well nearby? The views thou, corrr 😍😍😍
Beautiful scenery and glimpse into pride and hard work of previous owners. Be interesting to aee the cottage that you are staying in for comparison purposes. At least the cottage your family is staying in is making wonderful memories for you and yours. Once again, thanks for taking us on holiday. Love the new name and photo of the channel!!!!!
Aww thank you Donna 🥰🥰 I'm editing a vlog that does just that! Shows you where we are staying and the comparison of the ruin. (Great minds think alike!)

Sad loss...Im afraid people no longer want to live in that way. My 1600's cottage was 2 up..2 down plus small kitchen bathroom when I found ut...roof falling in but I got there just in time to give it the love it deserved..34 years later...still here. Cottage a bit bigger but still a Cotswold stone cottage. Enjoying new channel content Kerry!!! Big hugs xx
Renovation and rescuing old homes is one of my fav things Mel, we've renovated a few in the past but are stuck in rented now. 'Sigh' I did fall in love with that red roofed ruin, broke my heart to see it in such a state. They can be bought back to life, like you did your lovely home. Just need the will plus money and permission to buy! I've the will but not the other 2 crucial things lol. Thank you Mel as well, love to you n Suz xxxx
It is a shame left to rot away it reminds me of the film Rob Roy and I noticed no road to it so you would need to be on horse back 😂Thanks Kerry 🌹🐈Xxxx
Haha, I'd fall off Rosa😂 but you're right, no road or even a rough track. Am thinking that prob was major reason it wasn't developed or end up as a holiday cottage. So many around here are holiday lets, although there is a fair number of crofters here who live year round. But nearly 70%/80% property are holiday ones, says a lot about the loss of population in those areas. I stayed in one but I feel bad for the locals, esp the young who want to fly the nest. Tricky!
I wonder how people in these remote places get post, and did they often get snowed in? Is a croft a personal farm, for food - were the owners considered poor?
Postal services via Royal mail have always been good, just perhaps takes a bit longer. Definitely yes to getting snowed in but if they're born and brought up there, they'd be well prepared. Crofters are small farms that have strict rules via crofting commission. If you break those rules, you could lose your croft or right to croft there, here I'm more vague as many crofters own their land, so if they break the rules, not quite sure what happens but I know the crofting commission is strict, just looked it up croft owners who break the rules, get an opportunity to correct (big rule is you must live on or near the land) but if failed to do so they have to let it to someone who can live on/near and use the land for agriculture or horticulture or purposeful ie not neglect it. Crofting can be hard work esp in the seasons when weather is adverse. Love your questions btw😀👍💕. Same ones I had many years ago. We don't have crofters down south, its unique to the Scottish Highlands
If it took all the money in the world, I wish a time machine could be invented. BUT. Only to go back in time. Imagine going forward and discovering total destruction, acrid smoke and poisonous air, and nobody left. Realising that was the world's, and your fate would be awful. Only backwards!

Thank you Janice💕💕 it really is a shame, must have been so hard living there without all the mod cons we are used to.
