Hitler may have had a stress induced 6th sense about explosives. He really should not have survived WW2. Few with his duties did. Von simply means Of in German. Harry of Williams, Charles of Lorraine, etc duh, of course it would sound noble in your ears but for me it is not.

It's ironic that the Allies had plans to assassinate Hitler also but he was doing such a bad job at directing the war effort that the Allies decided against killing him. At the same time,
the German military was trying desperately to assassinate him to no avail. I see two scenarios emerging had the assassination attempts worked. The Germans would have sued for peace with the Allies or the war would have dragged on with competent Generals now making decisions on the German war effort.
Germany was never prepared for a war lasting more than 2-3 years. It never had the supply chain nor the raw materials to do so. After Hitler’s failed attempt at taking Russia, all was lost for the German Third Reich. No amount of competence could make up for lack of supplies.
If Von Kuge "Clever Hans" hadn't chickened out in March of 1943 when Hitler came to Army Group Center to meet with him, then Army Group Center's Cavalry Brigade would have shot Hitler dead.

@Gazzara5 Amont the plotters were also those who opposed the Nazis right from the beginning, like Trott, Schwanenfeld or Josef Wirmer. Others came later, that right. Many of them were educated as patriots and they feared the Communism and the Sovietunion. Actually Stalin adviced the Communists in Germany to try to overturn democracy. The Sovietunion was an aggressive nation and they had not the knowledge we had today, therefore they were not too critical about the war in the east.

I'm still trying to understand this, will someone help explain it to me? I have a World History project on Operation Valkyrie but I don't fully understand no matter how many videos or how many articles I read. Is Operation Valkyrie ALL of the failed attempts on Hitler's life combined or is it one specific attack?

Operation valkyrie main purpose was a military emergency set up by the Nazis to take control of germany & its empire when the nazi government fail in controlling it but the German officers (resistance) plan to use it against the Nazis after they try/failed assassination of hitler on 20 July Plot.
Operation valkyrie is now named/considered as a conspiracy plot against hitler.
The main event for assassination attempt on hitler which has direct link with operation valkyrie is/was called 20 July Plot.
In other word , 20 July Plot was carried out during the Operation Valkyrie.
There were many others assassination attempts before Operation Valkyrie/20 july plot which has no link/relation with Op. Valkyrie/20 july plot.

@Gazzara5 No, it is very, very sad, because a big part of them were executed, many of them tortured, and they are defamed until today, many of them forgotten! The Allied did not help them and told lies about them during the war, but at least Churchill had remorse and found some very nice words about them after the war. Also the Germans are not very grateful. But there is literature and a museum with many documents about the resistance in Berlin - you just have to read to find out the truth.

In 1944 they just had to wait until the end of the war and they would have had a good life. They knew that the war was lost and soon would end. Nevertheless they tried a last attempt in 1944. Why there are no such videos on Stallin? Rarely ppl talk of how Hitler bought Germany upp in terms of Economy, Education and Industrialisation. There would but you'd never get them as Russia still exists and those sorts of videos wouldn't be released.
Hitler send a lot of spy work and they'd work to get most of the population to go against the current government and once the government was on the tipping point they'd send in a force that would take over the country very fast.
He had done that around 8 times before attacking Russia, but Stalin had started the purges in 1936/7 and by 1940 he wasn't trusting many people and that's when Germany had done a truce with Russia, which was the same sort of truce he had done with the 8 countries before hand. So it wasn't exactly too hard to work out something was going to happen at some point.
Alas though, due to Germany using tanks a lot, the Russians also decided to improve their tanks and thus you got the T-34 and they had been pumping them out since 1938
And because Germany thought the Russians were too simple and easy to take over they didn't do the convert the population so when they attacked it went pear shaped then failed bad.
Hitler would make up stories to justify attacking other countries and threaten them with war to make them give him what he wanted. They were not a threat to Germany. The "Polish threat" were prisoners who were sentenced to death in Germany, dressed in Polish uniforms, given lethal injections, brought over the Polish border, and planted there by the Gestapo to make it look like they had attacked German troops and that the German troops had killed them to defend themselves. Also, Czechoslovokia was threatened into giving up the Sudaten land. They were told, I believe by Ribbentrop, if they did not concede by midnight or something that German troops would march in and take it, even though Czechoslovokia is a soverign nation. So yea.....there was no threat to Germany by the countries that were invaded in there anywhere...

Time and again these guys, officers obviously, made this thing way to complex and didn't seem to have the stomach for violence.
