    Do you get condensation from the propane furnace?
    And idea is to make a “skirt” to go around the camper: this helps a great deal in preventing freezing! You can even put a small little electric heater or heat lamp under there-all it has to do is keep that area above freezing.

      I have a couple small dehumidifiers that definitely absorb the moisture. I’ve heard that skirting does help but I’m not usually in one place for long enough to do it. No help on ideas there 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just run the heat and on the REALLY cold days I have opened my cabinets and disconnected the water hose. (I do have a heated hose but again with the constant moving thing). I think the heater thing is a good idea!

    That eases my mind a whole lot. I really wondered how warm they would stay in some extreme weather.

    This is wonderful! Thank you for the video. One of the reason we chose casita is that we travel North for the christmas holiday, and we wanted to get a travel trailer that we could use that would tolerate the cold. This has me convinced that we chose well. Thanks 🙏

    I survived the winter freeze around 2022 xmas in my casita. Austin area. I put some antifreeze in my tanks. the outside water hose froze before I could unhook it. Had to use a heating pad to melt it to unhook it. I found the overhead heater couldn't keep up and turned on the propane one instead for the night time. Thanks for your video!

      Thanks for the comments! Our little Casitas may not be rated “4 Season”campers, but I think handle the occasional freeze pretty well! Love the heating pad idea, never would’ve thought of that!

      I can attest to putting antifreeze in both the grey & black tanks before the weather freezes. This will keep any water from freezing at the dump valves and allow you to actually dump your tanks when needed so that you don't have to wait for those to thaw out.

    We're from Florida and we're definitely are not laughing at your winter storm. It's comforting to know that our little egg will do well in the colder temps. Thanks for sharing!

    Great video. I've been thinking about getting a casita or scamp for a few years. I'm leaning towards the casita now.

    Very enjoyable, informative, and well-done video. You answered all of my lingering questions. I no longer fear traveling in my casita when I pick it up in September! Thank you! I love your little Buttons!

    Did you run off of your onboard water tank or use a heated hose from the faucet? We spent a winter in our 32 foot (now stolen) trailer on Vancouver Island and had to bring the long water hose in a few times to thaw it out. The tanks did ok, as it didn't get too much below freezing. But that darn hose!! lol! If we ever do that again, we'll be buying a heated hose. I had to go do the conversion for the F to C temperatures. So, yes, did do a little giggle. But, if you aren't prepared for anything below freezing it can be an issue, even if it's not -40C/F, the one temperature where C and F agree. And yes, I actually do experience -40C/F every winter at our Yukon off grid cabin! lol! Good to know Gidget is up to the challenge, and you obviously are too! Poor Buttons, though. She needs some booties!

      I filled the onboard water tank about 3/4 full and it lasted the duration. Lol

    I'm looking to get a Cacita this summer.

      It held up like a champ for me :-). I didn’t have any hoses hooked up and just used the water pump. I also only filled the fresh water tank to 3/4 in case there was any freezing it would hopefully have room to expand. The heat strip never had a problem keeping up and my furnace only kicked on when I had my door open for long. Good luck on your Casita and safe travels:-)

    Wondered how the Casita woukd manage during a multiple day subfreezing episode. I thought that the propane "furnace" would do a good job, but had reservations regarding the optional "heatstrip" in the rooftop AC unit.
    What temperature range was the interior of your Cassita during the subfreezing weather?

    • @TinyTexanAdventures
      @TinyTexanAdventures  2 года назад +1

      I actually only used the furnace when I had the door open for a bit because it warms quickly. The rest of the time the heat strip was plenty. Inside temperature range was 68°- 72° (which is my normal range year round). :-)

    • @evanyeagered.d.9604
      @evanyeagered.d.9604 2 года назад

      @@TinyTexanAdventures That is actually rather impressive. Enough insulation and weather seal quality to allow the heat strip, the furnace, or even a portable heater to perform well depending on the circumstances.

    • @TinyTexanAdventures
      @TinyTexanAdventures  2 года назад +1

      Exactly! When the temperature was in the teens I fully expected the need for extra layers of clothing, but to my surprise it was not necessary:-)

    Newbie here. Can you comment on how you keep the interior warm, how much power it takes to get the trailer to a comfortable state. I don't think you have solar to supply some of the power. Would a portable battery hooked to a ceramic heater be one option. Maybe if you can do a separate video on "power/AC" management, that would be great. Thanks!
