Upgraded boulderrain give stackable defense which makes you basically impervious to the majority of damage. It's the big hitters that will actually damage you
Wanted to find some tips for Have a nice Death. Find myself on this channel again after a long time.^^ Jawless Paul never disappoints in scratching the roguelike itch.^^ Congrats to another subscriber.^^
The game has been so fun so far! Only thing I’m confused about is what department to go to? I don’t really understand what upgrade next green or red curses mean when going to the next department.
Yeah basically if you have a cloak/scythe build go red and if you have a spell build go green. I think there is some flexibility but that is how I typically choose. Whatever is my main damage sources you want to find the curses to buff it.
Now do you want to unlock ALL the cloaks and spells with ingots, or is this like dead cells where you only want to unlock the good ones to keep your pool low so you only have the best ones for your run?
That's a good question, there are some pretty bummer ones that you can find, but I don't know if leaving them out of the pool is best or not... I think they are still patching the game every now and again so maybe they will buff some of them?
If this is happening in arenas in the Addictions or Modern Warfare Department, that's the one thing that the Sullied enemies can do; basically all damage that isn't from status effects like Poison, Burn, or Bleed gets redirected to the enemy producing the effect until it dies. Just keep hitting them until then. (If this isn't what you were referring to, my apologies.)
I have yet to play it! How would you rank it compared to Rogue Legacy 2 and Hades? Which btw if you have not played Rogue Legacy 2 yet please do! It is easily one of the best roguelikes I have played besides Hades and Returnal.
I've only been playing this game for a couple hours but compared to rogue legacy 2, It just doesn't compare. Still fun and nice combat but not nearly as fleshed out as RL2. Unless they add more stuff in the future, I'd probably say I'm looking at 10 hours to beat... Basically slam through 5 levels super easy, go against bosses every 6th floor that you just have to learn mechanics for...then rinse and repeat. Wish I saved this til it went on sale..but I'm not hating it!!
Rogue legacy 2 feels more like a metroidvania roguelike, since you don't play through the whole thing, once you can double jump and have some of the other movement abilities you just teleport to the new zones. It's definitely tough as nails though! I really enjoyed it!
I didn't know this until I wathced another video but if you check your map once you're close enough itll show a symbol to show you where the secret door is
You bet! I'm definitely enjoying it! If you like this one you should definitely try Skul: The Hero Slayer. Rogue Legacy 2 is pretty amazing too, as Cooper mentioned!
Ok I think I understand what you are asking. Do you mean that room where you can beat up the disco head guy? That room is just where you test out weapons. You don't take those with you on your run, you have to pick weapons you find up along the way.
@@JawlessPaul Thank you for replying. I tried to google but only found the videos of people who were playing when those event first released. And there seems to be no article about how to do it.
I'm late to the party, but for anyone else wondering in the future - you can activate those quests by buying either Halloween themed decorations or christmas themed decoration for the Death's office. You can buy them in the practice room where the disco ball guy is, left from the door is a small lady with glasses. She sells them.
This video is a perfect example as to why you earned a subscriber way back when you started doing hades content. This game is great but does a poor job at explaining what is what and when is when… you broke down more than I could of learned on my own immediately.. thanks Paul! Now let’s hope they come out with a few quality of life patches to balancing, and additional content for progression! Also… can’t wait for hades 2…
Thank you for the kind words! I'm so glad it was helpful! I've gotten more questions since this one that I think I want to address as well... Agreed on some qol updates! Leveling up actually adds a lot of that too, like unlocking an elevator that takes you straight to the bosses
Once I pre-ordered the game in switch, I counted the days until it would come out and as soon as it did, I was on it. Only 30 hours so far but I have kind of a busy schedule lmoa To anyone else- I would definitely recommend
was my first rouqe like game and last dumb the game takes everything away from you if you die even your life so if you have 95 life health bar and you die it wil reset to 65 what kind of bs is that it takes away the motivation to be better ! the levels are empty and boring ,yes the combat is fun the humor and art design is cool but thats all there is at least give me somekind of way to defend my self dashing all the time gets boring fast ! the mini bosses are often times the same i got to level 2 and died and it took me all the way back to level 1 with nothing not even my health lol wtf !! there are better games out there for shure !! and i realy tried to like this game whats the motivation to keep playing if 1 death makes everything go away zero ! and yess i like hard games i finished all the souls games and recently wolong and after that Planet Cube: Edge < recoment it hard but fun and rewarding !!
It isn't for everyone, but that's the nature of roguelike and roguelite games. You start from square one and see how far you can get! The progression is your skill plus whatever permanent boosts you can find in game. Cheers!
Maybe you should have some patience to get the full experience of the game. I started the game yesterday and after a few runs i get a teleport to the first boss, the weapons get better and you can upgrade a lot of other things. And there is so much more to explore. Do you know Hades? You get killed hundreds of times until you are able to reach the end of the story, inbetween you meet bosses, who seems to be unbeatable ( my first encounters with Hades were full of pain) . But evolving the game, by trying your best and get as far as you can, then upgrade and run again and again while you get better. I love this concept
Upgraded boulderrain give stackable defense which makes you basically impervious to the majority of damage. It's the big hitters that will actually damage you
Good to know! I haven't seen it much lately, but I should give it a try since defense is so important at the moment.
A good tip when going down platforms is to strike downward so it stuns any enemies waiting for you
This is such a good guide, thanks for sharing! Great to see your channel is going strong
Thanks Damien!
"and now we don't have to worry about whether we take damage or not because we're not gonna lose anything..." 🤣
😁😂🤣😭💀
Thanks for the guide. The healing from spell ultimates is super helpful.
You bet! Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful, I've been playing it since full release and struggle with healing in some runs - I didn't know about the healing spells ults.
Good luck in your runs!
Thanks for this guide just got the game and am super confused by everything, 😂 But you explained a lot of things so thanks for this.
You are welcome! I hope it helps :)

This game Hella reminds me of neon abyss. As well as a few of the other darker games out. Hella fun.

I usually go mana because the toxic food processing department is just so much harder.
Nice one! Interesting to see been waiting for this game for quite a while!
It's pretty awesome! A lot of fun and pretty to look at :)
You can find secret doors from checking the map and it'll show loot in blacked out area where a door is
Yes! Though not always
Sorry I know this is juvenile but 27:30 "enema also have a unqiue ability to open secret doors" had me chuckle for a while :)
HA! 🤣
Great guide by the way! I know I'm late to the party 😅.
Glad it was helpful! :)
Thank you good video 😊

Praying for a jaw to enter Paul's life soon 🙏🔜
Haha, thanks! Thoughts and prayers. 😁

Thank you for the crash course! Question, why are my enemies frozen in a blue prism sometimes?
That's a good question... Maybe it's a curse or spell?

I have big problems with getting curse "Fake it till you make it" is there any requirement in order to get it?
I don't think so. There are LOTS of curses so it is hard to find specific ones unfortunately
How do I upgrade my health? I always start with about 65 health and I haven't gone past waldo.
So I’m new to rogue like games and I don’t understand the room situation like for example why would I choose the vault room over vitam department?
In this vid I talk about the various floor options: ruclips.net/video/yaD2TyjlLB4/видео.html

If you want to unlock everything you have to increase the difficulty, which, let me tell you, makes it MUCH harder
Sweet! I'm excited to start this! Thanks, Paul.
I hope you enjoy the game! I've been enjoying it quite a bit!
I have over 30 hours in this game and I didn't know about secret doors.
I didn't know this until I wathced another video but if you check your map once you're close enough itll show a symbol to show you where the secret door is
The secret doors are game changers for sure. They aren't all amazing, but when you find a legendary spell or weapon, it can really help!
This is by far the best 2D rogue-like game EVER. Thank you so much for this amazing vid 💜
Not as good as Rogue Legacy 2 I have heard.
You bet! I'm definitely enjoying it! If you like this one you should definitely try Skul: The Hero Slayer. Rogue Legacy 2 is pretty amazing too, as Cooper mentioned!
Just started the game and I'm sure how to keep secondary weapons. On leaving the area to equip them they're removed.
Ok I think I understand what you are asking. Do you mean that room where you can beat up the disco head guy? That room is just where you test out weapons. You don't take those with you on your run, you have to pick weapons you find up along the way.
@@JawlessPaul Ah, ok. Now that makes sense. Thank you 👍
How do i put weapons that are in the 4th storage slot into the 3rd one? just started this game
Yeah, unfortunately anything you put into that slot is only good for selling, you can't swap it into an active weapon slot.
Anyone know how to start the Halloween and Christmas quest to unlock the office cosmetic?
That's a great question, I don't actually know. They might be locked for people who were playing during the early access period.
@@JawlessPaul Thank you for replying. I tried to google but only found the videos of people who were playing when those event first released. And there seems to be no article about how to do it.

What do the signs with an arrow and a +X mean?
It sometimes means there is a hazard or maybe if it requires a higher jump depending on the symbols
@@JawlessPaul thank you!

YOU CAN TAKE MORE AGREEMENTS THAN ONE?!
0:49Is this the X-mas Edition??????
Haha, I think this was an early access thing. I don't know if you can unlock those things in-game
@@JawlessPaul i HAVE to play this game right now💀💀💀🖤🖤🖤

Same! I am enjoying immensely!
Can we switch spells ?
Yes!
Do you know why I only have 2 contracts shown?
You probably need to purchase something with ingots.

Missed arcane infusion and lifesteal*
I think I mention arcane infusion later on. Lifesteal isn't an infuse I've used much... Though it sounds great!
YES!! 😁
Not me watching this as the game installs 😅
Haha, good luck! :)
Indeed! :D
