Yeah, the brazen lore breaking has been the most frustrating part. And thing is, little lore oppsies do happen, like a lot of popular Star Wars books do have little slip ups here and there, accidental oversights and the such, like hey, mistakes happen. But Disney is just so overt and shameless about how they keep doing it that there's no way its accidental or even simple incompetence, they just don't give a damn.
I’m ngl people need to get over the lore issues, Disney Star Wars is a new thing and they’re gonna make new/contradictory lore if they think it’ll make a better story. In my opinion the problem isn’t that it breaks the lore it’s that the story isn’t interesting
I will admit that the prequels have some issues, here and there, but overall I think they are fantastic Star Wars films. I watched the original trilogy, multiple times, before seeing the prequels, and I overall enjoyed the prequels just as much, if not more. So myself and many other of my closest friends have been prequel lovers, from the get-go.
What are you talking about? They are creating the canon. Do none of you understand EU material is not canon. What Disney makes is. Y'all live in bizzaro world?
“My Luke would never do what he felt was best for his friend and love ones or give his life for them” I never got that. Guess some see Luke total different than me
I don't think people forget the prequel hate, we still get that shit. I always liked it because i saw the prequel on midnight of opening day each time. The overall story is pretty great.
i still happily remember buying kenobi, maul, and jinn at the toy store next to the movie theatre the day ep I came out. 9 year old me had a great time at all 3 midnight releases
I want to love star wars again, but if Disney keeps doing this, then im not gonna watch this new stuff. The only really good things that came out was like Rouge One and Seasons 1 and 2 of Mandolorian Lore breaking, playing victim, politics, self inserts, bad writing, blamming/gaslighting fans, all of these things and more keep me and many others from loving Star Wars. I wish it wasn't this way but it is.
Just look on what Dismay does to his own movies. How he distroys those. I think, the main problem is Dismay. They got so big and fat so that they think, they do not need talent any more. They think, they do not need to strive any more. They do not need to make good movies any. Just produce product, advertise them, buy reviewers, ridicule and denounce any critics and the money will flow in, because consumers are stupid. And we are stupid in parts. But we need to rise now and fight for our interests.
I've come to accept something, I haven't been buying these series on home release because I really enjoyed them. I bought all of them because they're Star Wars. I've only liked the first 2 seasons of Mando, Andor, Rogue One and Solo. Everything else I don't care to revisit. I think this one will be the defining moment. If this doesn't surprise me then I'm gonna retire from the new canon and go check out the legends canon. There are things I liked about the ones I didn't mention, but that's only pieces. I would only look up those in clips. I have no incentive to revisit any of them.
Kennedy is just doing what Disney wants her to do. Thats the thing er have to understand. If she was not doing their biddibg she should have been gone a long time ago. The prequel hate was alwsy over blown imo bro. A lot of okde fans hated them, but a lot of oldee fans loved or thought they were a mixed bag.
Breaking the lore is frustrating the die-hards, I'm sure, but I think the medium-level Star Wars fans (love the movies, maybe aren't that into the EU) are just tired of being attacked. I don't even think The Last Jedi was worse, on its own, than Attack Of The Clones, but it was the most damaging movie to the franchise in no small part because the media coverage around it was extremely hostile to anyone who didn't like it. Then we got two good seasons of Mandalorian, we were ready to forgive, and Gina Carano was fired, defamed out the door, and the narrative set that anyone who liked her must be an awful person. The same damn TLJ playbook all over again. And they do this constantly. They tell their "trophy actors" to brace themselves ahead of time, they regularly make public statements assuming Star Wars fans are prejudiced. Giving money to LucasFilm at this point is submitting to an abusive relationship.
Completely agree! Breaking apart the established Star Wars lore little by little has made extremely noticeable cracks. Still can't get over the fact that they made Palpatine survive
This retcons the EU, which was already thrown out ten years ago. But you ARE aware Palpatine came back in the EU, right? I don't mind it, because I love the EU, I'm just pointing this out.
Hey Geekdom, I'm a big fan of your channels-keep up the good work. I agree with you that Disney simply did not respect the lore, and combined with bad story writing, we are left with very poor shows. Do I think woke ideology seeped into the company overall and affected their products? Yes. I define woke ideology as a cultural and political movement that prioritizes identity politics, social justice, and the concept of systemic oppression, often focusing on racial and gender identity over individual merit. However, you can have those ideas and still be a good storyteller. Unfortunately, people’s egos won’t allow them to change their ways (storytelling).
Actually he as in Vader he does say I haven’t felt this present since… so somewhere after his first defeat he met Obi Wan one more time so doing that I believe was the right thing to do in my opinion and point of view.
9:30 I don't hate anyone. If they want this to be their vision going forward that's fine. I will be happy to take my eyeballs back to other things, classics. These entertainment companies need to realize that pushing away fans is not the way to get NEW fans. They're failing to draw the new fans, while pushing away the new fans parents. It's a quick way to kill your brand. "Star Wars" will never be a Female brand, it'll never be a male brand again. It's not for Gen X (the ones who grew up with it) and it's not for the 80s./90s kids, because it's wildly different. So, again disney I ask "Who ---- IS -----THIS -----FOR"
I dont understand where all the confusion is coming from. They literally said that all the expanded universe shit was non-canon when disney purchased it Only shit that was canon was all the movies and clone wars. How can they break canon if there is no related established canon? And lets be real, star wars has never been great.
Shit, I'm a HARDCORE EU fan, I don't follow Disney's Star Wars at all, I'm rereading the Republic comics atm which IS about Ki-Adi-Mundi, but since they threw out and discontinued the EU ten years ago (unfortunate, people would still love those stories), Ki-Adi-Mundi's age has remained unknown in the Disney Star Wars timeline. And I HATE Disney Star Wars, I think as history and mythology, it doesn't work nearly as well as the old EU did, but I want to try to be as fair as possible, and using the EU to attack Disney this way kinda sits wrong with me.
There's always gonna be those weirdos in the community that they're pointing at. But making everyone the problem is not helping anyone. The big thing with the Prequels too were that they were already planned in the first place. George has died on that hill for the longest time, that this was a 6 Part Saga he has always had in mind. I always watched the Prequels before the Originals and it was always a great experience. And now adding Clone Wars just adds right on top of it because it's genuinely an awesome show. The thing is, you just can't break one man's vision that he's poured so much of his life into. He wasn't the best and maybe it didn't all turn out the way he exactly wanted, but he did it. He did his story, his Saga. You can never break that.
God I'm glad I gave up on disney after The Rise of Skywalker. I do keep up with at the very least though, because there is some small part of me that believes maybe they can reel it back in and do something right, but definitely not going in that direction anytime soon.
@WorldofGeekdom that was basically the entire message of obi wan series...oh and that obi could have killed vader and has blood on his hands for billions of deaths.
Might be the biggest property ever to FLIP and tank after a large percentage of the audience stopped watching, and are only watching reviews - reviews which carefully analyze and pick apart the shredded story structure and character histories, and reveal exactly how internally sabotaged the property is. I’m continuing to track the progress from afar, and many of the YT videos picking the story apart are *quite funny, well written, and well produced.* Hmmm!
And heres the perspective no one wants to talk about. A lot of the people at Lucasfilm worked during the times when the prequels were hated. Im sure they have plenty of emails, letters, etc from fans hating on George and the prequels. Im sure the people there use that history to justify what they're doing. And Danny the way Rian wrote Luke was lifted from George's treatment
Left out the part where Luke was suppose to join the protagonist on the adventure not sit on his butt. And he was there because of a betrayal not because of murderous thoughts.
@@jeremyfields9009 The treatment Lucas submitted was the female protagonist would meet with Luke and Luke's characterization would be that of Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now
George Broke Cannon, but when he broke cannon it was, Grievous killing someone vs Savage oppress. Darth Bane has different armor, Midichlorians. These things haven’t altered the trajectory of the story as a whole. Annoying, yes. But trajectory breaking no. Disney has been on a mission to just do what ever they want. That’s not how you run establish lore.
I don't think Disney is a morally good company. But I'm so tired of hearing people invoke "George's Vision." The old Expanded Universe was a loosely, connected collection of licensed material. I am in no way looking down on anyone prefers it over Disney Star Wars. A lot of the EU has a special place in my heart. But George has stated many times that he only thinks of the EU as side stories and not canon to his work. It is very unreasonable to say that Disney is breaking lore when they were upfront from the onset that their intention was to build new lore off of just the first six movies and Clone Wars. George doesn't even consider the film novelizations or the clone wars micro series to have been canon. They were just promotional licensed material. I don't know Kathy Kennedy. But I've never believed 99% of the horrible things I've heard content creators say about her or how she operates. The Force Is Female thing had been debunked a long time ago and people still trying to site it in 2024 is maddening. It had nothing to do with Star Wars. She was helping her daughter promote Nike Air Forces as a women's athletic brand, getting young girls involved in sports, and The Force Is Female was their promotional slogan. But the grifters got a hold of the story and ran wild with it. How many of the countless fake stories did we have to endure over the years about how Kathleen Kennedy and Jon Favreau refuse to work with each other again or headlines of "Kennedy is out on Lucas Film." It's mostly lies and nonsense fabricated by grifters trying to earn a buck through rage farming and click bate. After Revenge of the Sith, George continued to give us his vision for years, for which he was relentlessly bullied and harased by so many. I'm old enough to remember when it was popular to say "George Lucas ruined my childhood." That's why he sold to Disney. He had enough. He made his fortune. He was burnt out and felt unappreciated. But even if he were still in creative control, I can bet with confidence that those who hate Star Wars now under Disney would still hate it under George. We can say "Star Wars is failing" "Star Wars is dead" until the banthas come home. But the fact is it's one of Disney's most successful franchises and continues to earn them billions. Enough people love it, that's why they make more. No one should take it personally just because they're not resonating with modern Star Wars.

I say it's same both ways. Those who attack the show REALLY attack it to death. There's dozens of channels doing a review for each episode weekly just to shit on it? Yet they tune in for each development. Stanning and hating are different sides of the same coin
That's because we can't even give a fair review of the show because those of you hating are being absolutely stupid about this. It's blind hate. Every week you pick a stupid hill to die on. I would love nothing more than to be having actual debate and discourse over the show discussing the pros and cons but so many of you have decided to make this into something ugly that we can't even talk about Star Wars anymore.

Star Wars had a rich history of canon in the 90s and the EU writers, Lucas and the fans didn’t care at all about pissing all over it. So how can I now be upset when Disney does it. Now the second EU fans know how is kids of the 80s felt.
For real this is all just history repeating itself. It's far from the first time that Star Wars has shifted with massive changes to the lore. At this point it's very much one of the things that defines Star Wars.

I have noticed Geekdom.
Disney wants THEIR Star Wars.
Fans want Lucas Star Wars.
Then why did fans force him to sell SW after the prequels when everyone was saying how awful he was?
Maybe Disney Star Wars is to Lucas era as Dragonball GT is to it's cannon.
Kennedy and Headland effectively pretend Star Wars lore is made of jelly putty.
Dave Filoni does too. The man has taken a sort of childish relish in rewriting the EU he _claims_ to be such a "huge fan" of.
So they should just copy and paste the EU? It's no longer canon. Get the hell over it.

Yup. They can have it. At this point there is no fixing it. I was even open to forgiving the ST, because they had stories about Luke and the Gang they could tell between the movies.
but everything after Mando S1 is trash and mando S1 wasn't even that great.

Thing is, they promised the books would be on their same canon tier ten years ago on the ashes of the old EU. So that was just a lie, basically.

But are they purposely changing the cannon or they are just incompetent and don't understand star wars?
Probably both
What are you talking about? They are creating the canon. Do none of you understand EU material is not canon. What Disney makes is. Y'all live in bizzaro world?
“My Luke would never do what he felt was best for his friend and love ones or give his life for them”
I never got that. Guess some see Luke total different than me
You guys are still watching Disney Star Wars content? How many chances you gonna give them? Stop. Its dead.
The only really good things that came out was like Rouge One and Seasons 1 and 2 of Mandolorian
Lore breaking, playing victim, politics, self inserts, bad writing, blamming/gaslighting fans, all of these things and more keep me and many others from loving Star Wars.

All disney cares about is "The Message!"
suppose the force awakens can be looks at soft reboot officially now
After the Rise of Skywalker I can't even bring myself to watch anything new from Star Wars
Disney the Vince McMahon of entertainment
They way you describe Ryan Johnson reminds me of Vince McMahon
you should compare SW to Harry Potter had Disney purchased it. Imagine the hate if Disney changed the lore around a reimagining of Harry Potter.
Hey Geekdom,
I'm a big fan of your channels-keep up the good work.
Les Headland is the classic example of this. She even said as much in an interview.

The pretenses are no longer viable with Star Wars.

Filoni's the one who rewrote Bane, not George. The man can't get off without rewriting someone else's story, his work on Disney Star Wars proves that.
@@saberiandream316 George still rewrote things and planned to rewrite other characters from legends, so don't act like he wasn't the same.
At this point, both Star Wars is just like dragon ball when it comes to continuity. I can still enjoy star wars with that mindset.
