I am a senior citizen who needs assisted living. The problem is I make $31,000 a year in Social Security. I am not on medicaid. I live in North Texas between Paris and Bonham. I prefer a smaller Assisted Living Home to a large one. I have Congestive Heart Failure and Chronic Kidney Disease stage 3. I also have asthma, edema, and allergies. I am 69 and will be turning 70 in September. I also have two small dogs that I want to keep with me as they help me through emotional times. I lost my husband of 14 years in 2019 to Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. My health has gone down ever since . I had also lost my Mother to Alzheimers in 2019. I haven't been able to completely recover from both losses like l had been able in the past. My surving brother and sister in law are missionaries in France. I don't have very many family members left as they are all older. My brother and sister in law are from the Hoouston area around Spring Creek and Tomball. I would like information on living in a smaller residential home setting where I will be able to get personal care and be able to still be able to do things that I love doing.
Bless your heart. That is a lot to deal with. You are smart to start looking. I am going to refer you to someone in your area who would be able to help or at least point you in the right direction. His name is Jack Angel. His phone # is 936-225-4373
I love this so much!! Opening a residential home has been in my heart for so long. But I was a single mom raising 3 girls and had to do what I had to do to take care of my priorities. But now I am in the right season of life to get this started! Thanks for the encouraging and helpful content ladies !

Unfortunately each state has their own rules and regulations. In Texas we have an organization called Texas Organization of Residential Care Homes. There may be something similar in your state. The members help each other a lot. Talk to a local Senior Living Advisor. They would probably know more or check with your state regulatory agency.
Hello, I'm a nurse in Texas and very interested in opening a residential assistant living facility. I've researched for the past year and think I'm ready to go for it.

In Miami many people do not want to help others . It’s so unfortunate living her .
Can a small home (3 or less residents) become licensed?
In Texas they can but the cost to do so is prohibitive. They follow the same rules and regulations that large facilities do.

What are the licensing steps ?
Is your question pertaining to getting a license in the state of Texas?
50+ is not senior
Agreed. However some physical and mental conditions may cause someone to move into a small assisted living early.
