    For me, her voice has changed significantly in the last 6 months. She's sounding less tense, the vocals are cleaner and she seems to be singing with a lot less pressure and a lot more comfort. From what I understand about vocal technique, these changes are not made suddenly, could it be that there is something to do with her losing weight? After all, the body greatly influences the sound of the voice.

    • @matthieumichel864
      @matthieumichel864 7 месяцев назад +5

      i thing thats she sound healthier cause :
      -she stop singing in spanish, where she use a slightly different technique (like in la reina, pas mis muchachas), with more tense
      - maybe she train more and do some cardio ( why she loose weight), so she is less tired
      whatever im so happy😊, even more when she is proud of her when she sing well

      Losing weight means her breathing is more regulated, therefore she's able to have more control over her voice. She's probably also been seeing a vocal coach in preparation for this residency.

      Better placement for the chest voice. She had an issue of dragging her larynx down when trying to chest belt but now that seems to be gone so its clearing up her voice cause it can cause a lot of discomfort. Her Head Voice seems to be regular because Xtina always had an amazing Head Voice

      She used to manipulate her voice to sound bigger which causes tension in her tongue and jaw, making her sound muffled and strained when hitting notes.
      Now she's using her natural belting tone with support from her diaphragm. This is evident in her vibrato which is more apparent now due to proper voice placement. Her voice sounds more resonant and powerful because it is projected properly.

    *Would you please explain "glissando", "melisma", "falsetto vs head voice", "runs vs riffs", "rasp vs growl", "agility" & "vibrato" for us newbies?* 🙏♥

    • @SAINT_NSAID
      @SAINT_NSAID 7 месяцев назад +17

      Not the video author, but they probably won't mind somebody else explaining. So... In simplest terms:
      - Glisando - gradual climbing the note ladder without using vibrato, eg. the final note from Makes Me Wanna Pray live performance at B2B tour or the final note on Candyman
      - Melisma, also known as runs - singing a group of notes on one syllable, Christina has plenty of such phrases and those are one of the things she’s known for, eg. opening of Ain’t No Other Man, closing of Lady Marmalade, can also be heard in the climax of Beautiful
      - Rasp tends to be vague, generally the less or more deliberate grit in her voice, most audible on long belts, growl is completely deliberate, used to accentuate some of the words or phrases in the lyrics, such as _fighter_ in Fighter, there’s a lot of growl in the chorus
      - Riffing is usually swinging/repeating a pattern of notes in a phrase, eg. the climax of The Thrill Is Gone on The Voice live performance
      - Head voice - upper register of the voice, technically the top of fifth octave, but not necessarily, when the vibrations of sounds are felt in the head instead of the chest eg. _Your lips, your love, your smile, your kiss_ in Loving Me 4 Me,
      - Vibrato, contrary to glissando, is a note sung with a tremble, or a wobble, or an oscillation in pitch, eg. the very end of Save Me From Myself
      hope that helped
      🫶🏼

      @@SAINT_NSAID OMG, thank you so much! That's exactly what I needed! simple definitions with examples. especially thanks for giving examples in her songs so I could fully understand!🙏❤

      Belts, upper belt & mixed. Would you please explain them?

    • @SAINT_NSAID
      @SAINT_NSAID 7 месяцев назад +4

      @@Bi-onic
      You’re welcome! I am glad I helped! 🫶🏼
      I actually did try to summarize everything in the simplest form possible, mostly using Christina’s famous songs as examples because those are most widely known and I assumed you could remember them easily.
      Belting is this specific technique in which a singer carries their chest voice pass the passagio area (the place in which chest voice transitions towards head voice, for most people it is past the middle of the fourth octave).
      In terms of Christina’s belting, well, it’s safe to say that she belts a lot, and her belts are mostly centered around the middle of the fifth octave. Mixed voice is a technique used by singers of all genres that refers to singing simultaneously in chest and head voice, where the chest voice is supposed to give the intensity and weight, and head voice a balance and the actual ability to reach a high note. Christina can mix but prefers belting in a chestier manner as a stylistic choice. Probably one of the best mixing examples are also in the climax of Beautiful, the highest _everywhere_ you hear in the climax, as well as _shine_ are both executed in mixed voice. Sadly, I have never heard Christina attempting to do those two notes live even though I am sure she was always able to.
      An upper belt is basically any belt from F5 onwards - Christina did multiple F5’s and G5’s in her parts in the climax of Lady Marmalade, as well as in I Turn To You.
      If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

    • @SAINT_NSAID
      @SAINT_NSAID 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@Bi-onic Also, as I think I missed explaining the term and the concept of agility, it’s the ability to move voice through different extremes without effort, and Christina is a great example of a naturally agile and nimble voice. Pretty much all her songs are, if anything, wonderful examples of uncanny agility and Christina is famed for that aspect of her voice as well. Hear the ending of Without You and the climax of On Our Way if you want to hear meticulous agility that is nothing short of wonderful and on par with some other greats such as Chante Moore, Mariah, Jazmine Sullivan, Brandy, Whitney, etc.

      She exclaimed an F#5 in a mixed voice with a glissando in this show while speaking to the audience, proof that she can reach the note comfortably. I think she can apply it to the songs because she certainly still has all her range, but she needs to reduce the tension if she wants to do that.

    3:54 This is why Christina will forever be that girl. True Christina fans know that some of these runs and high notes are for the audience and some of them are for her. This is an example of the latter. My girl dropped some weight, she’s tied up, singing her first single but as a grown woman, AND there’s this new lusty, thumping arrangement, she was really feeling that. That’s why that run was so sexy.

    Christina’s sounding more comfortable, but her timbre still sounds so much richer in the lower fourth, and even upper third octave now. She needs a repertoire of material in that range, with only a slight peppering of fifth octave belts. Her older songs with a higher tessitura cause her current voice to struggle and eventually collapse as she tries to sustain singing/growling in that extreme (for her now) upper range, sometimes reverting to ‘talking’ through passages.
    Her C5-Eb5 belts all have the same style and repetitive sound, the ‘yeah yeah yeah’ trilling, and whilst _less_ raspy/strained, they are still not full or resonant.

    Wow for God's sake, as I use to call her she's our 'WHITEney' Aguilera Houston.Noone could ever match Christina's vocal talent and ability.The greatest singer of this generation hands down ❤❤❤ Pity she didn't sing at least one of my two ever favorite songs of hers: reflection and I turn to you 😢 She's absolutely fascinating!!! 💯💯💯💖

    Now if she stopped over-singing she’d be able to get through a whole song without needing breaks. The notes she hits are impressive but it’s just that hitting notes. It gets annoying. I’d rather hear a singer connect and sing a song like Kelly Clarkson does.
