      So you really think that people don't need to know that it's actually the murder capital of the entire world right now? Besides trying to be all cool and vibrant, there should also exist something called conscience and a basic sense of responsibilty.

    Tijuana is Amazing and beautiful if you know where to go.
    Just remember these rules before you go so you don't get in trouble.
    1) don't drink on the streets
    2) marijuana is NOT legal
    3) don't be a jerk, mexicans are friendly but proud
    I'm from Los Angels and here are some areas where there's a lot of violence and you shouldn't go (Compton, South central, skid row, etc) same in Tijuana. Stay away from El Florido, La Morita and places the locals can tell you.
    Is just another city with pros and cons don't worry.
    But the food... that's something you HAVE to experience in your life.

  • @Alec_____
    @Alec_____ 5 лет назад +187

    If you don't know a lick of spanish, don't let that discourage you from visiting! Most locals speak some degree of english! Also, don't be afraid of the violence, it's not as bad as people make it out to be as long as you stay in the decent parts of town, the vast majority of crimes involve gang violence, not regular civilians. Also, yes, food, drinks, party, the beaches are Tj's biggest attractions, if you're looking for more "natural" attractions you should head down south of Mexico. :)

    • @t0nicss867
      @t0nicss867 5 лет назад +5

      no it's pretty bad reguardless, even then when it's gang violence more than 40 percent of the time a civillian is always injured

      nothing special about it. like a ghetto and poor version of san diego with no uber/lyft, fewer stores of every kind, and a lot of violence. cross walks are unsafe. tons of cops with their sirens blaring all day and night trying to deal with everything from violence to weed to some white guy trying to get a blow job. all the while the citizens live in poverty and the government makes no infrastructure to encourage tourism. depressing place in my opinion.

    Great video. I've been to Tijuana probably 15+ times just in the past 3 years and it's safe. Police may and will hassle you, my best advice is be nice, friendly and dumb. Most importantly, and I just learned this from my friend, don't speak any Spanish! I know Spanish but I pretend I don't because the cops won't ask you for a bribe if they can't clearly communicate that to you. Unless you actually did something bad, and you both know it, in which case haggle and know they'll usually take $10-20 regardless of what they're asking for (which is usually in the hundreds). But outside of cops bugging me I've never once felt unsafe. Airbnb is definitely the way to go and avoid driving drunk (it used to be fine but lately they are cracking down with DUI checkpoints). Take an Uber and get wasted. Bring condoms because it's easy to hook up, whether a local or a tourist. And don't give money to beggars ever, in Mexico they have pride and even they look down on beggars. Get Sentri and cross back into the US in minutes.

    The easiest way to get around is uber. It's more pricey at night but on average an uber trip is about 50 pesos. I had an airbnb about 15 blocks from ave revolucion and it would cost about 50 pesos to get to playas de tijuana at 1030 am and about 55 to get back at 4pm. Cheap cheap.
    Also my first rule was never pass up a bano. Tijuana is bereft of public washrooms. Also watch where you are walking. you can't just walk around with your head in the clouds. The sidewalks are a mess there. It would be pretty easy to break a damn leg on the massive crevasses in the sidewalks. Don't worry about cartel, worry about the sidewalks, and the crazy drivers.

      I'm sorry you got to experience the bad part of our city. But yes. Sadly the north side of the city is filled with prostitution. Not proud of it but it's a reality. Many people here come from the south of our country looking for a better way of life and end up in the north part turning tricks and selling drugs. But I'm sure this is not exclusively of our city. We still have great tourist family appropriate places. Hope you visit more for the culture next time 😏

And there was the worst smell that made me feel like I was choking. I couldn't stay in that city. Fortunately we were driving through and over to get to San Felipe which was an amazing place. But I'd like to give Tijuana another chance and check out all of the nice areas. Maybe that horrid smell is only in certain spots.

      Yeah, probably. In tijuana it really depends where you are, in the street where my grandma lives, you here gunshots every day, murders are common(It's mostly gang murders not civilians), my dad almost got mugged there but didn't, because he knew the person who was mugging him, there was once a guy on her roof with a gun(we all survived), but I live in a place with really nice looking houses and a lot of plants, my neighbors are nice, Haven't heard a single gunshot since I moved in here(big improvement from living in my grandmas house), no break-ins, and it's literally like five minutes away from my grandmas house, so yeah if you wanna come here, just make sure you're going in the right places and you can find it's actually a really nice city.

    I have not been to Tijuana in 14 years. We used to party down there, my entire family used to go. We are mix Caucasian and Hispanic but we mostly look white lol. I'm not sure if being white is more risky down there or not. It's been so long. I have stories. Hell, even 15 years ago my dad and me drove down there to go to the strip clubs. It was in the middle of the night when we went. My girlfriend cheated on me, and my dad was trying to cheer me up. It was 11:00 at night on a Friday I think, and he's like what do you want to do? Want to go to a strip club? But we didn't go to a strip club. We drove to Tijuana in a 1989 el dorado cadillac. We didn't sleep and when the sun rise. So much crazy shit happened that night. R.I.P. Dad.
    My family and I used to go there we would rent small beach houses and party. I had a girlfriend and my sisters their boyfriends we would all go out and party. Eating tacos while drunk at 12 at night. One time I'm so stupid I walked home from a club called Papas and Beer, actually that was Rosarito. I walked home about 2 miles completely drunk in the dark, in Rosarito, all the way back to our beach house. I can't imagine doing that today. Shit, if I tried that today I'd probably be kidnapped. People make fun of other people who are scared of Mexico. I noticed people say, stupid gringo. But there is a reason why we stopped going to Mexico. I don't party anymore, but we did have good times. And it was cheap as fuck. I remember my stepdad but 3 30 packs of Tecate. I sat on the beach and drink Tecate for 6 hours. Then went inside and passed out. Shit I have stories.

    Decently accurate overview for sure, great job there, and this is coming from a lifelong San Diegan whose made the same trip dozens of times. However, I think you overestimated the price a bit. 50-100$ is ALOT to spend. Tacos everywhere are about 65 cents. Getting 2 of nearly every candy at a local store will cost you about 8$. Getting back to the border in an Uber from ANYWHERE in TJ is about 2$-2.50$. A nice place to stay in about 10$-15$, and thats LUXURiOUS!

    In San Diego I met Baja California tourist guide man with his yellow 10 persons car and talked to him. He told me that he was earning at least 10.000 USD and he could only endsmeet for 4 person family in California with that net income. He also had got some international students to settle in his 5 bedroom villa and earn extra money from them as well. Burritos are famous in California and big chunk of beef burritos are only priced at 6 USD footlong in sizes, really delicious.

    Although I loved your video there is SO MUCH more to Tijuana than partying and Revolution Street. There are typically many events on the beaches, $3 movie theatres, soccer games are huge here, and events every weekend downtown in Zona Rio. If you do go to Rosarito they also have various events in the city and beaches, the markets are big for shopping and of course, there are multiple places to eat along the way. And thinking a bit outside of the box- there are many needs because of the level of poverty. If you visit, it would be a great experience to volunteer some time. Thanks for making the video!

      I suggest you follow a page like Demoler on Instagram. They stay up to date with corruption and cartel violence in all regions of Mexico. Yes they are a media outlet but they're not sensationalizing anything, it's based on factual evidence. Tijuana was ranked the most dangerous city in the world in 2019, (none of this is to scare you by the way), I just think it's important to remember to stay vigilant of your surroundings and trust your gut should something feel weird to you in any way. You'll definitely have a great time when you go, cheers!
