I love this kind of stuff Eli...thanks. I love the banjo stuff too. This jazz stuff actually helps me with Bach and understanding classical music better...keep it coming.
Fantastic video Eli!! Quick question. Can one improvise off the D diminish scale as well, as it resolves to C major 7, as opposed to G Diminish. Would that be musically correct🤔 Or, am I confused😂 Thanks🤗
Use the whole-half diminished starting on the 3, 5, b7, or b9 of a V chord for a 7b9 altered dominant sound. This is the same scale as the half-whole starting on the root, the difference is in how you think about it. Since the diminished arpeggio starting on the 3, 5, b7, or b9 of V is such a common sound, thinking about it this way might be helpful. Visualizing this arpeggio also helps orient your lines around chord tones. Thinking about the half-whole from the root makes these chord tones less obvious (to me). The whole-half diminished from the root works on diminished chords, where the non-chord tones (the whole steps) provide color (e.g., diminished major 7th).
and you ? are you serious to play jazz on the guitar ? lol ok lessons and ? what do you play and with who ? with yourself ?ok lol go out from your home !

Thank you John!
Eli, this is great!
I'm referring to the table showed on 0.57 .The lower E string should be on top.
greetings
i love it!
Great lesson man ! Really effective !
Do you force the diminished scale on top of plain dominant chord, or does comping need to play an altered dominant behind soloist?
I think that the table should be otherway around😊
This was awesomely absorbable, you filled out any gaps in basic understanding that I might have. Great work!

Jazz-Scale?
So you use the whole-half diminished on the seventh tonic? What about the half-whole, where to use it? Cheers thanks for the content
