Not Jpop, but an idol belonging to a Korean Kpop agency. Koreans write lyrics, compose, dance training, and produce music videos. Can it be called jpop?
Japanese albums released by Korean idols to target the Japanese market are not jpop. For example, if a British rock group releases an album and sings in Korean, does it become Kpop?
P.S. Using the JEONGYEON hashtag in that video is clearly fraudulent. Incorrect hashtag usage can distort information and create confusion.
But MiSaMo is marketing to Japan specifically, so yes, they're considered J-Pop.
@@adrimarsink Just know that it was Korean K-POP experts who composed and choreographed it. Poor Japanese folks.
@@JHS-w6r "Poor Japanese folks" _ they're under JYP, of course Koreans wrote the song and choreographed it. But the language is in Japanese, marketed towards a Japanese audience. They're not even marketed in Korea, so it's not considered K-Pop. Still considered J-Pop.
Also, J-Pop is a lot larger than you think. Japan has the 2nd largest music industry in the world, so the Japanese aren't exactly "poor."
@@adrimarsink You seem like someone with a pitiful notion of using the image and fandom of K-POP to elevate your fondness for Japan. JYP releasing a Japanese album to target the Japanese market is just a strategic move. It's no different from how BTS didn't label their English album as "American pop." Poor Japanese folks.
@@JHS-w6r And you seem to be one of those "K-Pop supremacists" who look down on those who appreciate J-Pop. Your opinion isn't valid here, as MiSaMo is being marketed in Japan, their songs are in Japanese, their releases are charted in Japan, not in Korea or anywhere else.
If we're gonna go by your logic then most of K-Pop music should be considered Western Pop, since most of the songwriters and producers are from the U.S. and Europe anyway. Sounds fair to me.
