I had the same bike except it had the red and black paint scheme. Bought it new in '86. At the time it was cutting edge technology for sport bikes. Good times on that scooter.

I had the EXACT same bike bought in '87 for $1K with 1K miles on it and garage kept. Military guy was scared of it and deployed. Sold in '89 to finish undergrad. I loved it. About even with the VF500 I got a decade later not much to pick from between them but the Honda did have better low end of course.

You had to clean the carb multiple times, was there something specific you found to finally get it running? I’ve got just the motor in a buggy, and can’t get it to run without the choke. I’ve had the thing completely apart.

LukeBrinkerhoff only running on choke sounds like a clogged pilot jet to me. I would try disassembling the carbs and cleaning the pilot with carb clean and a piece of wire to run through the holes. Hope this helps.

eltoro97 you would think. So I bought new jets. I’ve been through this carb way too many times. Just wondered if these CV carbs had some little trick to them.

@@LukeBrinkerhoff I don't remember any tricks specifically, but the carbs were extremely finicky because of the cv and double barrel design. Definitely not the easiest to work on.

eltoro97 I think I found it. A air leak on the intake manifold o rings. Tried sealing with RTV, it only sealed the one side, but will actually run without choke now.
