I have always felt that Backbone, from the same album, did the same thing but much better IMO.

I’m fairly new to Gojira (discovered them myself about a year ago) but I can tell a Gojira song in the opening bars. They have a unique sound and way of playing. It can be completely hypnotizing. They are great and unique storytellers.
To this day, Meshuggah and Gojira are the two most devastating live bands I've ever seen.
It's funny.... people sometimes like to classify Gojira as "prog-metal."
I kinda hesitate to call them that, but they are definitely a group where the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Their riffs are not difficult to play at all, anyone with a passing knowledge of guitar or bass can figure any of them out in a minute or two.
But there is definitely something about the way they put their songs together that makes them such a stellar group.

Saw the thumbnail and immediately clicked thinking it was 'where dragons dwell' at hellfest. Tank, you MUST react to that (same festival, Hellfest '13). It's insane by all accounts. Loving the work! Don't apologise for headbanging, I'd be concerned if you didn't!
"Vacuity, art of dying, toxic garbage island and gift of guilt" all badass songs🤘🔥🤘🔥 they are a french group, the drummer Mario Duplantier is friggin amazing. I believe the lead singer and drummer are brothers.

GOJIRA is one of my favorite bands. They freaking rule. New stuff , old stuff it’s all good. Any song that people here suggest will be good!
Seeing them live is crazy. Theyre so loud but so clean. You definitely feel the bass in your chest like no other band.

Some background info about the album.
By April 2015, the studio was complete and the band began recording music. However, recording of the album was put on hold when Joe Duplantier and Mario Duplantier's mother fell ill and died. The band spent some time touring before returning to studio to continue recording. Mixing of the album was completed in February 2016
Also if remember correctly, this song is a thing they dealing w/ the case
Ans, as I said earlier, older Orbit Culture has a lot of similarities w/ this. Check out O.C. album "Rasen"

This is one of their more "radio friendly" songs ... they have MONSTER tracks! Any of the other suggestions are good songs to listen to. Also know that they're truly better live than studio artists, right up this channels alley for sure. You won't find a bad live on them.

Love the song, one of my favorites by Gojira! Also love that Strapping Young Lad is playing in the background in the intro.
Flying Whales and Heaviest Matter of the Universe are classics. L'Enfant Sauvage, The Art of Dying, and The Gift of Guilt are extreme bangers as well. SO MANY GOOD SONGS
PS I personally prefer studio versions. Live is cool but I prefer the clarity and cleanliness and THICKness of the studio
First time I ever listened to Gojira, I went to a little record shop before I joined the Army in 06 and asked for some heavy metal, dude at the counter told me "turn around, 3rd shelf down far left" did and the Gojira-From Mars to Sirius album was there and had a sticker on it from some metal magazine that said "The heaviest fucking metal you will hear this year!" It was not lying been a fan since then. Love the channel man, keep up the awesome videos.

Gojira is so god damn good. Those heavy headbanging sections will just grind you into dust from the sheer force of it. You can't help but headbang to a song like this, its basically mandatory.
You should check the new Charvel Joe Duplantier signature model 2020, its amazing. And it includes his own signature DiMarzio pickup, so yes, they are that big :)
Great reaction mate, far above average really. I like the little comments you added in the edit. Also nice to see someone with some experience analyzing their gear while listening to it first time. I'd love to see more Gojira reactions! They also go in the full blown death metal style. My personal favs are Clone, remembrance and wisdome comes!

Gojira is awesome. I feel like what make them special is their hability to deliver a really complexe music while being utterly extreme and brutal. Mr. Tank, life long metal head and Gojira can since 1998 here. Their very best most all consuming brutal and sweeping composition is from the album, From Mars to Sirius. In the Wilderness. Dude it's a majestic masterpiece!
I was exactly like you three years ago - heard about them a lot, never listened to. Then I did and fell in love. They're in my top 10 favorite bands presently.
Good speakers and cranked to 11 is the only way to experience those little things they slip in to their music that makes them so spot on. Looking forward to hearing what you think!

Hat's off, shit just got real! Bit of Detox playing in the background of the intro, love it! Gift of Guilt, Where Dragons Dwell, Heaviest Matter, L'Enfant Sauvage, Love, Oroborus.. the list goes on! Stranded and most songs from that particular album are all more on the straight forward side, they definitely get pretty wild as you go back in time though!
In terms of live recordings, Gojira is the best metal band i've seen when it comes to live mixing on their videos. Please try Toxic Garbage Island (live), Gift of Guilt (live), or Oroborus (live). Great reaction man! Edit: Also really appreciate your knowledge of gear and added annotations!

The first time I saw them live, and I didn’t know them. The first beat hit me and never let go. The only band at a live concert that is getting me in a trance. Live this band is a total other league.

That was my initial reaction to finally listening to Gojira after not taking the time to for so long. "Where have they been my whole life?" Hahaha Check out Flying Whales from them... It's killer.

You hadn't checked out Gojira before? Oh boy, I'M excited for this.
Flying Whales, Gift of Guilt, Heaviest Matter of the Universe, Backbone, Wolf Down the Earth are all complete bangers. One of my favourite bands of all time with an instantly recognizable sound and they're disgustingly heavy.
Yes, Gojira (by the way, their title is Godzilla like Japanese people pronounce this word, they have no "z" and "l" sounds and they use "j" and "r" sounds instead) is THAT big. They were even opening for Metallica a couple of years ago. And this concert is their sorta home show (french band, french festival), so they're one of the most appreciated bands in any Hellfest lineup. This is one of the most technical and musically interesting bands in all the current metal scene.
And a small note about guitar. Joe's (lead singer) guitar is THE HEAVIEST telecaster available for purchase. It has literally everything to play any sort of heavy music up to brutal genres, but packed into usual telecaster piece of wood.
P.S. I always recommend to look at their bass player. He's a beast on stage :)

Global Warming - Live at the Silver Cord Studio.
It's one of their most breathtaking songs; so much that they refuse to play it live as it would "hurt" the rest of the setlist (by their own admission in the description of the video). But in 2018, they played it in a studio and it's... it's magnificent (and you'd have a lot to say about the tech there I bet).

So much excellent songs to react to for Gojira. My favorites are "The art of dying", "Oroborus", "Esoteric surgery", "Wolf down the Earth", "The gift of guilt", and much more !
Man I’ve seen Gojira twice now and they were utterly flawless and the energy was unreal. It’s easy to see why Randy Blythe gives these guys props all of the time.
Gojira is one of the most famous french band. They have an international fame and they deserve it. And Mario is a fucking good drummer !!!

I'm so upset when I had to chance to see them last year I got free from work late so I could hear them playing while walking in to the venue but by the time I got in their set was over, at least the slipknot set was incredible...
I have never in my life seen or heard a bad Gojira show live. These guys are always on top of their game and sound way better live than studio
If you want some badass folk metal, I recommend King by Eluveitie. Swiss folk metal with instruments hardly utilized in other genres, such as the flute, fiddle, and Hurdy-Gurdy!
Gotta check their 2017 red rocks stuff. Beautiful audio and visual.
