"The drummer is doing some work" you're in for a treat, that one is one if not the least complex Gojira song on the drums! I see there are already many great recommendations for more Gojira, so I have nothing to add. Hope you have a nice day!
Welcome to Gojira my friend I highly recommend: Where Dragons Dwell Heaviest Matter in the Universe The Gift of Guilt And I *definitely* recommend to do those LIVE because their performance is spectacular
I’m fairly new to Gojira (discovered them myself about a year ago) but I can tell a Gojira song in the opening bars. They have a unique sound and way of playing. It can be completely hypnotizing. They are great and unique storytellers.
First time I ever listened to Gojira, I went to a little record shop before I joined the Army in 06 and asked for some heavy metal, dude at the counter told me "turn around, 3rd shelf down far left" did and the Gojira-From Mars to Sirius album was there and had a sticker on it from some metal magazine that said "The heaviest fucking metal you will hear this year!" It was not lying been a fan since then. Love the channel man, keep up the awesome videos.
Saw the thumbnail and immediately clicked thinking it was 'where dragons dwell' at hellfest. Tank, you MUST react to that (same festival, Hellfest '13). It's insane by all accounts. Loving the work! Don't apologise for headbanging, I'd be concerned if you didn't!
Yes!!! I'm so psyched you've finally got round to them! Gojira is an absolute delight, they will surprise you with every listen. There's so much to choose from that people here will probably recommend - maybe you ought to put out a poll for the next track? Really glad you like them though, spot on with the kits BTW and yes the Charvel signature series has been in a couple of different styles and fairly recent.
"Vacuity, art of dying, toxic garbage island and gift of guilt" all badass songs🤘🔥🤘🔥 they are a french group, the drummer Mario Duplantier is friggin amazing. I believe the lead singer and drummer are brothers.
I loved you facts about the equipment like always, and your love of music is infectious even when I do not always enjoy the artist you are reacting to. I enjoy learning and always learn something watching your reactions. Thanks Tank and have a safe and great day!
I was exactly like you three years ago - heard about them a lot, never listened to. Then I did and fell in love. They're in my top 10 favorite bands presently.
Hat's off, shit just got real! Bit of Detox playing in the background of the intro, love it! Gift of Guilt, Where Dragons Dwell, Heaviest Matter, L'Enfant Sauvage, Love, Oroborus.. the list goes on! Stranded and most songs from that particular album are all more on the straight forward side, they definitely get pretty wild as you go back in time though!
We keep on going with that world of Metal tour I see ! Well, on this one I welcome you to my home buddy. These guys come from a town in the south of France very close to where I live :)
Some background info about the album. By April 2015, the studio was complete and the band began recording music. However, recording of the album was put on hold when Joe Duplantier and Mario Duplantier's mother fell ill and died. The band spent some time touring before returning to studio to continue recording. Mixing of the album was completed in February 2016 Also if remember correctly, this song is a thing they dealing w/ the case Ans, as I said earlier, older Orbit Culture has a lot of similarities w/ this. Check out O.C. album "Rasen"
You should check the new Charvel Joe Duplantier signature model 2020, its amazing. And it includes his own signature DiMarzio pickup, so yes, they are that big :)
It's funny.... people sometimes like to classify Gojira as "prog-metal." I kinda hesitate to call them that, but they are definitely a group where the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Their riffs are not difficult to play at all, anyone with a passing knowledge of guitar or bass can figure any of them out in a minute or two. But there is definitely something about the way they put their songs together that makes them such a stellar group. Great reaction, btw. 👍
This is one of their more "radio friendly" songs ... they have MONSTER tracks! Any of the other suggestions are good songs to listen to. Also know that they're truly better live than studio artists, right up this channels alley for sure. You won't find a bad live on them.
Great reaction mate, far above average really. I like the little comments you added in the edit. Also nice to see someone with some experience analyzing their gear while listening to it first time. I'd love to see more Gojira reactions! They also go in the full blown death metal style. My personal favs are Clone, remembrance and wisdome comes! cheers dude
Gojira is awesome. I feel like what make them special is their hability to deliver a really complexe music while being utterly extreme and brutal. To be able to master that is the sign of a great band IMHO. I was waiting for them to come to your channel, and I'm glad to see that. Thank your for the reaction ! :) (also please check out Bloodywood if you have the time)
Gojira is so god damn good. Those heavy headbanging sections will just grind you into dust from the sheer force of it. You can't help but headbang to a song like this, its basically mandatory.
Flying Whales and Heaviest Matter of the Universe are classics. L'Enfant Sauvage, The Art of Dying, and The Gift of Guilt are extreme bangers as well. SO MANY GOOD SONGS
Just started listening this year. Enjoy the journey, I recommend all of their music. There’s life before Gojira and then there’s life after Gojira. It’s that good!
More Gojira - Flying Whales/Heaviest Matter of the Universe I'm not sure which bands you're familiar with but I wanted to list a few you might like if you haven't listened already Dream Theater - The Glass Prison or for a live video The Shattered Fortress live at the Boston Opera House Caligula's Horse - Graves Thank You Scientist - FXMLDR Opeth - Blackwater Park
I`ve seen many react channels but your caught my eye enough to subscribe. I appreciate your tech tips and gear analysis so keep it that way. BTW The gift of guilt at Brixton Academy by them is a must!
Good speakers and cranked to 11 is the only way to experience those little things they slip in to their music that makes them so spot on. Looking forward to hearing what you think!
I'm mad I haven't found this channel sooner! But here I am, and you have a new subscriber! Gojira is mad good! I hope I get a chance to see them live some day!!
Hey, just wanted to say I kind of accidentally came across your channel just now and I really like how your reactions are not only fun but also really informative. Super impressed, keep up the good work man, subscribed 👏🏻
I saw Gojira as a support act in 2010 and they whiped the floor with the main act. Who was the main act again.... let me see... oh, it was Metallica. Well...
Cool, so I finally sat down and listened to them as well, loved that riff. Same here - always heard the name but for some reason never listened to. I guess sometimes simply too busy or too lazy (or too lazy after being too busy..) to do it on my own. And this why I watch reaction channels like yours - to expand my horizons 😁😁
Mr. Tank, life long metal head and Gojira can since 1998 here. Their very best most all consuming brutal and sweeping composition is from the album, From Mars to Sirius. In the Wilderness. Dude it's a majestic masterpiece!
Man I was late to the party too. Heard them for the first time a couple years ago and now I'm obsessed. So many good songs. A few of my favs are backbone, heaviest matter of the universe, gift of guilt, esoteric surgery
Everyone always says, I can't believe I haven't listened to this before, when checking them out. Only decided to listen a year ago and blew me away. Pure groove.
You hadn't checked out Gojira before? Oh boy, I'M excited for this. Flying Whales, Gift of Guilt, Heaviest Matter of the Universe, Backbone, Wolf Down the Earth are all complete bangers. One of my favourite bands of all time with an instantly recognizable sound and they're disgustingly heavy.
So much excellent songs to react to for Gojira. My favorites are "The art of dying", "Oroborus", "Esoteric surgery", "Wolf down the Earth", "The gift of guilt", and much more !
The first time I saw them live, and I didn’t know them. The first beat hit me and never let go. The only band at a live concert that is getting me in a trance. Live this band is a total other league.
Just saw this channel now. But I really like the Pop up facts and knowledge twist to the videos. It's reminded me of the movie pop things they had on VH1 or Mtv cannot remember which it was. Also like the idea of a Roadie doing react videos. Hope you do well sir.
That was my initial reaction to finally listening to Gojira after not taking the time to for so long. "Where have they been my whole life?" Hahaha Check out Flying Whales from them... It's killer.
Dude. Great reaction, Stranded is a good place to start but be prepared for FAR heavier stuff! Looking forward to seeing more. Heaviest Matter of the Universe Flying Whales Art of Dying Gift of Guilt Where dragons dwell(live at hellfest) Pray(live at red rocks 2017) L’enfant Sauvage Silvera
In terms of live recordings, Gojira is the best metal band i've seen when it comes to live mixing on their videos. Please try Toxic Garbage Island (live), Gift of Guilt (live), or Oroborus (live). Great reaction man! Edit: Also really appreciate your knowledge of gear and added annotations!
The first song I heard by Gojira, and the song that got me hooked many years ago, was Clone. The title track from the album Clone which released in 01 I think. They have done nothing but grow musically over the years and I can honestly say that Gojira is one of my top 5 bands.
Man I’ve seen Gojira twice now and they were utterly flawless and the energy was unreal. It’s easy to see why Randy Blythe gives these guys props all of the time.
Glad you enjoyed this one. Vacuity, Flying Whales (studio version so you don't miss the intro), Heaviest Matter of the Universe, or if you want to see their gear a bit better, Global Warming live at Silver Chord Studio.
Tank! If you haven't heard them already, I gotta recommend Skeletonwitch and Revocation. Two of my absolute favorite metal bands, both shred in totally different ways.
I had to come back to your channel to request you listen to Gojira Pray (extended version ) live at Red Rocks.... You are going to destroy your neck! But it's the last song of that evening and they SMASH it. I'm sure you know about the Sound quality at Red Rocks, there is nothing like it.
You've mentioned before that you're a big Devin Townsend fan. If you've listened to his song Sumeria off of the Deconstruction album, Joe Duplantier is the guest vocalist in the middle section. Devin also guested on Gojira's song Of Blood And Salt. For more Gojira, I would recommend Silvera, Flying Whales, or L'Enfant Sauvage.
Yeh, for me, Gojira and Jinjer are the two bands that made metal interesting again. As far as I know this song was written while the mother of the two brothers was dying. Highly recommend to check out The Gift Of Guilt live at Brixton Academy, London. Le ́efant Sauvage, Silvera, Flying Whales and Heaviest Matter In The Universe are also very good. Like Jinjer, Gojira is a fantastic live band, so I'd definitely check for the high quality live versions first.
You’re in for a long ride with this band. They’re so unique. Check out Remembrance @ The Link Alive concert, it’s the most metal video you’ll ever see. It’s pure gold to me. It’s early Gojira, so a little heavier but so digestable. Would love to see a reaction.
Yes, Gojira (by the way, their title is Godzilla like Japanese people pronounce this word, they have no "z" and "l" sounds and they use "j" and "r" sounds instead) is THAT big. They were even opening for Metallica a couple of years ago. And this concert is their sorta home show (french band, french festival), so they're one of the most appreciated bands in any Hellfest lineup. This is one of the most technical and musically interesting bands in all the current metal scene. And a small note about guitar. Joe's (lead singer) guitar is THE HEAVIEST telecaster available for purchase. It has literally everything to play any sort of heavy music up to brutal genres, but packed into usual telecaster piece of wood. P.S. I always recommend to look at their bass player. He's a beast on stage :)
If you want some badass folk metal, I recommend King by Eluveitie. Swiss folk metal with instruments hardly utilized in other genres, such as the flute, fiddle, and Hurdy-Gurdy!
Such a great band! They were supposed to come close to where I am this summer but COVID-19 had other plans! 😭🤬 Really wanna see these guys live! Friendly reminder: Veil Of Maya - Outsider 😉
Sorry for the double comment, but just sharing what I think would be the best Gojira song for you to check out : Global Warming - Live at the Silver Cord Studio. It's one of their most breathtaking songs; so much that they refuse to play it live as it would "hurt" the rest of the setlist (by their own admission in the description of the video). But in 2018, they played it in a studio and it's... it's magnificent (and you'd have a lot to say about the tech there I bet). There you go : ruclips.net/video/8DiWzvE52ZY/видео.html And Mario is a beast. One of the best drummers out there !
I'm so upset when I had to chance to see them last year I got free from work late so I could hear them playing while walking in to the venue but by the time I got in their set was over, at least the slipknot set was incredible...
Flying Whales is monstrous, Where Dragons Dwell is great, Heaviest Matter of the Universe is what it says, The Art of Dying is pretty much perfect, and Silvera is really really good. Saying all that, Mouth of Kala is probably my favorite of theirs.
Oh. Oh you've stumbled on a big one. Saw these guys open for Machine Head and Lamb of God in Nashville at City Hall. They stopped the crowd. Every jaw on the floor. That was 2007 and Ive been a die hard ever since. They are really something else.
I'm an acquaintance of the former singer of Annihilator. He told me that they did an entire European festival tour and absolutely *nobody* wanted to be the next band onstage after Gojira. The first time I saw them live they opened up for In Flames. After Gojira was done, half the audience went home. The other half who stayed were completely spent.
Gojira is one of the most famous french band. They have an international fame and they deserve it. And Mario is a fucking good drummer !!! I profite you reacted to a french band to recomand you anf for all the curious here some other french band. Yeah I'm preatty proud about our scene. You probably don't have other recommandation for some of those bands but you need to try it even if you don't make reaction video for. Black metal : - Regarde les Hommes Tomber : A New Order - The Great Old Ones (the concept of this band is the lore of Lovecraft) : Of Dementia (Official Music Video) / Nyarlathotep - Pénitence Onirique : Le corps gelé de Lyse / Le Sel Hardcore (HC/punk/metalcore and other from the HC family) : - Black Bomb A : Bulletproof (from the last album) / Human Circus (an old song) - Rise of The North Star : Here Comes The Boom [live] (OFFICIAL) / Welcame [Furyo State Of Mind] / What The F*** / Nekketsu [live] (OFFICIAL) (by the way it was a fucking awesome show, the crownd was crasy) - Betraying the Martyrs : The Resilient / Man Made Disaster - The Arrs (it's all in french) : Hommes d'honneur / Mon Epitaphe / A jamais (the band stop there activity...) - Novelist : A Bitter End / Eyes Wide Shut - Lofofora (it's all in french) : Le venin / Les Gens / Le fond et la forme - L'esprit du clan (all in french) : fils de personne / atlas / Révérence Death Metal : GOROD : Bekhten's Curse / Elements and Spirit / The Mystic Triad of Artistry Humour/parodic(/grind) metal : Ultra Vomit - Une souris verte (grind cover of a french song for little children) / Kammthaar (Rammstein parody) / Evier Metal (NWOBHM parody) Indus (?) : Sidilarsen (it's all in french) : A qui je nuis me pardonne / On va tous crever Unclassifiable : PSYKUP - Violent Brazilian Massage or Cooler than God IGORRR : PARPAING [feat. George Fisher] / Very Noice / Tout Petit Moineau Sorry for this long post, but for all the curious here enjoy the discover and have fun !
Next songs: Flying whales, born in winter, silvera, The gift of guilt, another world
you literally just listed all my fave songs by them
You have to listen to Gojira's "heaviest matter of the universe" => the title says everything!!
I have always felt that Backbone, from the same album, did the same thing but much better IMO.
@@andrewcarter1747 both are like some of the heaviest songs.
Do Gojira - Where Dragons Dwell, do it live. Everybody will agree with me about this one.
I second this suggestion. An absolute must from the same Hellfest concert. An epic example of drumming stamina. And some awesome riffs
Global Warming, live in studio would be an insane choice for him to check out as well.
Mario is a drum god
Third this. Mario is an absolute monster!
Yup
"The drummer is doing some work" you're in for a treat, that one is one if not the least complex Gojira song on the drums!
I see there are already many great recommendations for more Gojira, so I have nothing to add. Hope you have a nice day!
Mario is so good, forsure one of the best in the business today.
Welcome to Gojira my friend
I highly recommend:
Where Dragons Dwell
Heaviest Matter in the Universe
The Gift of Guilt
And I *definitely* recommend to do those LIVE because their performance is spectacular
Gojira is like the best thing in metal these days as far as their everlasting freshness goes.
I’m fairly new to Gojira (discovered them myself about a year ago) but I can tell a Gojira song in the opening bars. They have a unique sound and way of playing. It can be completely hypnotizing. They are great and unique storytellers.
Love the song, one of my favorites by Gojira! Also love that Strapping Young Lad is playing in the background in the intro.
That's fucking awesome! Hahaha. Thanks man!
Toxic Garbage Island from the show in France several years ago. I should probably add that Gojira is the best sounding heavy act I've ever seen live.
That RIFFFFFFFFF
It’s going to be looked back on in 30 years as iconic. How could it not?
🤷🏻♀️🤘🏻
I agree.
Are they really that big that they all playing signature guitars? Answer: YES ^^ Made my day
Saw the thumbnail and immediately clicked thinking it was 'where dragons dwell' at hellfest. Tank, you MUST react to that (same festival, Hellfest '13). It's insane by all accounts. Loving the work! Don't apologise for headbanging, I'd be concerned if you didn't!
Saw these guys live last December, they were fantastic. I would definitely go see them again.
Uhh Gojira good choice. Next song from them should be L’Enfant sauvage
Add my voice to that!
You neeeeeeeeed the song heaviest matter of the universe. This song is awesome
I saw them open for Mastodon at stubb's in Austin. They blew me away live man....its a hell of a show
I really like the combination of your obvious enthusiasm for music with the gear thing and your deep knowledge of how making music works.
Yes!!! I'm so psyched you've finally got round to them!
Gojira is an absolute delight, they will surprise you with every listen.
There's so much to choose from that people here will probably recommend - maybe you ought to put out a poll for the next track?

"Vacuity, art of dying, toxic garbage island and gift of guilt" all badass songs🤘🔥🤘🔥 they are a french group, the drummer Mario Duplantier is friggin amazing. I believe the lead singer and drummer are brothers.
Seeing them live is crazy. Theyre so loud but so clean. You definitely feel the bass in your chest like no other band.
GOJIRA is one of my favorite bands. They freaking rule. New stuff , old stuff it’s all good. Any song that people here suggest will be good!
The true reaction. Go headbanging, so COOL!
Looks like hat’s gone off for the Duplantiers 🤘🏻
Quickest hat removal so far. Hahaha
Hat's off, shit just got real! Bit of Detox playing in the background of the intro, love it! Gift of Guilt, Where Dragons Dwell, Heaviest Matter, L'Enfant Sauvage, Love, Oroborus.. the list goes on! You should check the new Charvel Joe Duplantier signature model 2020, its amazing. And it includes his own signature DiMarzio pickup, so yes, they are that big :)
To this day, Meshuggah and Gojira are the two most devastating live bands I've ever seen.
It's funny.... people sometimes like to classify Gojira as "prog-metal."

Gojira - Flying Whales (Live at Resurrection Fest 2014, Spain)
They don't do the melodic intro on this one but as far as the crowd goes this one is super hype!!!
Gojira is awesome. I feel like what make them special is their hability to deliver a really complexe music while being utterly extreme and brutal. To be able to master that is the sign of a great band IMHO. I was waiting for them to come to your channel, and I'm glad to see that. Thank your for the reaction ! :)

Just started listening this year. Enjoy the journey, I recommend all of their music.
There’s life before Gojira and then there’s life after Gojira. It’s that good!
More Gojira - Flying Whales/Heaviest Matter of the Universe
I'm not sure which bands you're familiar with but I wanted to list a few you might like if you haven't listened already
Dream Theater - The Glass Prison or for a live video The Shattered Fortress live at the Boston Opera House
Caligula's Horse - Graves
Thank You Scientist - FXMLDR
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Flying whales live at brixton academy, or more recently the live performance of pray at the red rocks festival.
Pray at red rocks is amazing, truly!
Don't think I stopped headbanging throughout that whole vid. Great facts you popped up in this vid dude, will be checking out this band more :D 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I`ve seen many react channels but your caught my eye enough to subscribe. I appreciate your tech tips and gear analysis so keep it that way. BTW The gift of guilt at Brixton Academy by them is a must!
Thanks a ton!
One of my favorite live bands
Even got to meet them at a show in Providence , RI
Nice group of guys
So glad you did Gojira! Love this band! Keep smashing it Tank!
Thanks guys!

Thanks a ton! Much appreciated!
Gojira- Silvera live at hellfest 2016...the finger fast solo the singer does is cool....I love it!!!
Great Tank facts! =) You finally didnt make it to a premiere and i didnt know XD however i was there and handled stuff. I guess XD Well done =)
Thanks Orkar! Much appreciated man!
Start from their EPs and finish on MAGMA ;)
Totally worth it!
Gojira are heroes not only in Music.
They are great Supporters of SEA SHEPHERD. 🌊🐳🐬🦈
Yes!! Flying whales! I didn’t think I could be more in love, but then I heard this! ❤️ 🐳❤️
I saw Gojira as a support act in 2010 and they whiped the floor with the main act. Who was the main act again.... let me see... oh, it was Metallica. Well...

That was my initial reaction to finally listening to Gojira after not taking the time to for so long. "Where have they been my whole life?" Hahaha Check out Flying Whales from them... It's killer.

This isn‘t the typical Gojira we had before Magma so a very interesting choice for a first reaction
It was at Hellfest you said I think, so even if they weren't French , they could still say 'Merci'
I honestly didn’t know Hellfest was in France. Haha
Man I’ve seen Gojira twice now and they were utterly flawless and the energy was unreal. It’s easy to see why Randy Blythe gives these guys props all of the time.

Gojira, live at Red Rocks - Pray extended version.
The wall of sound those guys put out always puts a smile on my face.
I also like to note that was on the Gojira/Opeth tour with Devin Townsend as special guest.
@@theicedevil Damn, talk about a stacked show.
"Remembrance" in live from Brodeaux in 2003 the old Gojira, just amazing!!!
Yeah, Gojira have such an amazing sound, super unique!!
Gotta check their 2017 red rocks stuff. Beautiful audio and visual.
'Love' is awesome and what got me into Gojira oh so many years ago now
Tank gettin after it bruh 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Tank! If you haven't heard them already, I gotta recommend Skeletonwitch and Revocation. Two of my absolute favorite metal bands, both shred in totally different ways.
I had the pleasure of seeing them live in 2019. Absolutely fabulous and great band... they deserve more attention.

Nice fuckin SYL in the background bro!! You definitely have to listen to ALL of gojira!!
Theyre amazing!!

Gojira - Flying Whales. IMHO, best metal song ever created.
Saw them live last summer. So fucking great! 🤘🏻
The Gift Of Guilt (Live à la Brixton Academy) the rift is fucking awesome
Greetings from France.
Love your channel. Keep it up.
👍
Thanks Doc!
You’re in for a long ride with this band. They’re so unique. Check out Remembrance @ The Link Alive concert, it’s the most metal video you’ll ever see. It’s pure gold to me. It’s early Gojira, so a little heavier but so digestable. Would love to see a reaction.
In the Wilderness and Vacuity are both beautifully written heavy masterpieces
GOJIRA - THE ART OF DYING.
An incredible 10 minute odyssey. you must.
I have never in my life seen or heard a bad Gojira show live. These guys are always on top of their game and sound way better live than studio
Sorry for the double comment, but just sharing what I think would be the best Gojira song for you to check out :
Global Warming - Live at the Silver Cord Studio.
It's one of their most breathtaking songs; so much that they refuse to play it live as it would "hurt" the rest of the setlist (by their own admission in the description of the video). But in 2018, they played it in a studio and it's... it's magnificent (and you'd have a lot to say about the tech there I bet).
There you go : ruclips.net/video/8DiWzvE52ZY/видео.html
And Mario is a beast. One of the best drummers out there !
I'm so upset when I had to chance to see them last year I got free from work late so I could hear them playing while walking in to the venue but by the time I got in their set was over, at least the slipknot set was incredible...
Uhh Gojira, headbanger for sure! More please... The Heaviest Matter Of The Universe should be next!
Flying Whales is monstrous, Where Dragons Dwell is great, Heaviest Matter of the Universe is what it says, The Art of Dying is pretty much perfect, and Silvera is really really good. Saying all that, Mouth of Kala is probably my favorite of theirs.
Fuck yeh strapping in the background of the intro. Subscribed
🤘🤘🤘
The other half who stayed were completely spent.
in every fest they go - they take over!
